22.01.2022 All hail "The King" as he was known. One of the greats that broke a number of records for straws produced. We still get comments today from farmers on how they loved the Hugo daughters and he had a few with over 150,000 daughters out there. For a bull that was born 25 years ago his daughters would still perform pretty well today which is a testament to how far ahead of his time he was.

22.01.2022 Some great articles profiling dairy farmers in Ireland and how LIC genetics are performing for them plus an informative article on how the NZ Jerseys are leading the way in the Irish Moorepark trail.

21.01.2022 The third day of Christmas brings three French hens, or peace, hope, and love. For us that means Judds Admiral, a Jersey for whom many feel a lot of love!

21.01.2022 Interesting Podcast about the Kydds who has used LIC genetics for some time. Well done on those great results.

20.01.2022 On the second day of Christmas, LIC gave to me Lynbrook Terrific, dubbed ‘Mr Fix-It,’ reflecting his ability to sire outstanding conformation traits. No need for Turtle Doves!

20.01.2022 It takes your first calvers 10 days longer to recover from calving time to start cycling again, so keeping heifers to target weight is critical, says LIC Irel...and systems manager, John Tobin. Maiden Heifers Heifers that meet target liveweights at 15 and 22 months are more likely to get back in-calf early as a first calver. Research shows they generally outperform under-target herd-mates in both milk performance and reproductive performance in the first two lactations. Remember, farmers who mate their maiden heifers 10 days earlier, do so because it takes first calvers 10 days longer to recover from calving to start of cycling. It gives them a better chance in the herd. See more

The cows are a key ingredient with the herd averaging over 700kg/ms/cow. If you are interested in seeing Gregs operation and cows send a message through as we are planning a visit there soon.

18.01.2022 The ninth day of Christmas is often associated as the gift of nine ladies dancing but we’ve decided it belongs to an Angus by the name of Rissington C200 ...instead. Ranked number one sire overall in the Beef and Lamb Dairy Beef Progeny Test cohort 1, his traits will have you dancing like one of the nine ladies! See more

17.01.2022 Here are some photos of a small selection of the Hothouse daughters at James Clyne's in the Maffra area. James loves his Hothouse daughters with him being used extensively over the herd resulting in him having over 100 Hothouse progeny coming through, he says its the udders that sets them apart with them being very consistent across the group and they are good performers on farm. We still have stocks of Hothouse and there are also some top quality Hothouse sons starting to graduate from sire proving. https://licnz.com.au/dairy-cow-breeding-bull-teams/

13.01.2022 We have had a great few days in Tassie at the Tasmanian dairy conference and visiting farmers. One of the highlights was visiting Janefield dairy in Meander owned by Brian and Michelle Lawrence. The younger portion of their 1200 cow herd is mainly from one bull Preists Sierra and so pretty special seeing 200-300 Sierra daughters all in one paddock. Brain is very happy with them and they will make a really positive impact in his herd. It was also special for our Tasmanian ...District Manager Rowan Priest to see them as he is the breeder of Sierra. Sierra has been our most popular bull of all time in Australia and one of the oldest bulls now in LIC stable. He is really one out of the box in terms of fertility as he himself is a great collector, his daughters are super fertile and all reports and data show is has high semen fertility. We still have great stocks of Seirra so he will be popular for a few more years to come. See more

12.01.2022 Beamer is only the forth LIC bull ever to reach the million straw mark and hes still one of our most popular bulls now! Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads our there.

Get in touch with your local rep to secure your share.

11.01.2022 He’s gold and he has a ring, which is conveniently the usual gift on the fifth day of Christmas so our fifth day belongs to the golden coated Okura Integrity. What are your predictions for the next few days? Who will we share next!

10.01.2022 Fertility and Reproduction are often used as synonyms in the dairy industry. While they are related, there are a few key differences between them. Our repro t...eam is here to outline these difference between the two, and explain how getting a cow in calf good herd reproductive performance is more than simply just genetics. Want to know more? Have a read! https://www.lic.co.nz//reproduc/fertility-vs-reproduction/ See more

03.01.2022 Some exciting new work going on in the environmental space at LIC.

02.01.2022 Great to see Northern Victoria having a better season after some tough ones of late. Our Country Manager, Mike Rose was up there last week visiting some farmers in good spirits. A few photos from Peter and Dianne Letcher's farm in Muckatahs. Peters milking over 400 crossbred cows there with cows producing well and looking in great condition. Peter is with a 8 year old Showman (Ronshow) cow. Peter has found the Showman daughters to be consistent performers and have lasted well in the herd which is what you would expect from one of LIC's Hall of Fame sires.

02.01.2022 If you have any excess yearling crossbreeds 280+kg, we have a client looking for around 80 of them with the price being $650 - $750. PM here or contact your local LIC to find out more.
