25.01.2022 Wishing everyone who celebrates a very Happy Easter! Here is an excellent pet safety guide from Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic Sydney 1. Avoid chocolates While these are tasty for us humans, they can be lethal for our pets. Chocolates contain theobromine, a chemical similar to caffeine, which when consumed by pets can cause seizures and even heart failures. ... 2. Keep your pets away from foil the foil from Easter eggs is known to cause foreign body reactions amongst pets and could cause metal poisoning. 3. Don’t feed any fatty foods - Easter gatherings have a lot of delicious food. Children often feed pets directly from the table out of affection, however some of the fattier items when fed to pets could cause pancreatitis. 4. Be careful during egg hunts while sniffing around for eggs in the garden, your pet may come across toxic plants and mushrooms. So, keep an eye out for that. 5. Don’t let your pets take Easter decorations in their mouths decorations made of straw and plastic can get stuck in their teeth. Some decorations may also contain lead paint which is toxic for pets. 6. Take enough breaks while going on a road trip If you’re going on a road trip, be sure to stop for plenty of toilet breaks. This can prevent your pet from getting car sickness as well. Remember to keep your pet hydrated and comfortable if it’s a long ride. In case your pet feels unwell or has consumed too much chocolate contact Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic or your local vet. #petsafetyguide #HappyEaster #Easter #catsanddogs #pets

Snuffle Mats . Durable toys for tough-chewers . Christmas wrapping rolls (to make enrichment toys) . Shell pools (for sand or water) . Bully sticks (dog treats) . Scratching Posts and Planks . 13.01.2022 Please read this Dr Katrina is advising on how to keep your dogs cool and safe, and preferably at home on hot hot days Make sure that any pet you have has access to water, shades, aircon (if you have) fans (if you don’t), iced water (if they like), icy treats (healthy ones), inflatable pools, water bowls with stones for budgies (they seem to like this!), damp cool towels (my cat likes that on his back for a bit) and or misting spray for birds ... you know your pets and what they love/don’t love ... just check on your pets regularly, keep them inside and keep them cool Place water with stones outside for birds ... and keep cool and safe yourselves, drink plenty of water

10.01.2022 As well as the traditional red poppy worn to mark the Armistice Day of 11 November 1918 , there is also the purple poppy, remembering all the animals that died during wartime. Horses, dogs, and pigeons were often drafted into the war effort. Today we also remember and commemorate all the animal deeds and sacrifices in war. #lestweforget
