23.01.2022 ROAD CLOSURE: ARMIDALE ROAD LANDSLIP 2:00pm Tuesday 5 January Council advise that following engineering inspections of the landslip at Devils Nook, Armidale ...Road will be closed approximately 6km east of Bellbrook for at least a week. The landslip starts approximately 85 metres above the roadway and has taken out tonnes of rock and debris. There are several trees either balanced or still at risk of slipping and these will require specialist tree removal equipment and professionals to safely remove them from above. Council are working with specialist engineers to plan the best method for clearing and stabilising the site, but it is currently very dangerous with rocks still falling. There is no pedestrian access through the dangerous site and fencing will be in place. Council are working with residents and the SES to coordinate delivery of urgent medical supplies today with a plan being developed to secure daily deliveries of other supplies, potentially by helicopter through this week. Further investigation is also underway to secure alternative 4WD access but with more rain predicted residents are reminded not to drive through flood waters. 07.01.2022 ARMIDALE ROAD LANDSLIP UPDATE Friday 8 January 2021 Weather conditions have cleared in the last 24 hours allowing us to work with Geotech engineers and aircraf...t support to stabilise the landslip at Devils Nook, 6 kilometres east of Bellbrook. Water bombing commenced early this morning and has continued throughout the day. The water is being dropped in a concentrated load at the top of the slip aiming to move remaining loose rubble which will allow machinery to safely access the front of the slip and begin manual clearing. We will have staff working onsite throughout the weekend and are hoping to get one access lane open within the one week advised road closure. A second drop of supplies was airlifted into Bellbrook on Friday afternoon, ensuring the community have suitable access to food and medical supplies. At this stage we don’t anticipate any further emergency supply drops and residents with urgent needs are advised to contact SES directly.

01.01.2022 Copied from another post but it is exactly how I feel....perfectly explained.. Someone recently asked me 'why do you ride'. I found it a really hard question to answer at the time. In city areas it's commuting but out on the open and country roads it's real riding. ... Riding makes you hyper alert, you become a part of your surroundings and the elements. You FEEL the wind, the sunshine, the cold, the rain. You feel both fragile and powerful. Your senses are heightened, your eyes are constantly scanning for danger but at the same time you are seeing beauty and wonderment in the world around you. Your sense of smell picks up, you smell the sea, the forest, the mountains, a bbq, some pollens, gardens, farms, a bushfire and the odd roadkill of course. Both hands are constantly working, simultaneously both feet are working you're using your knees, your hips and shoulders, your arms and fingers, your head and if you're like me your mouth to sing and smile. You feel every inch of your journey through the hum of your engine. Your body sways into and out of the corners. It's a total workout. At the end of the ride you are exhausted but happy and if you have mastered a new skill, a difficult terrain, you are exhilarated. To be able to share this with friends who ride is just The best feeling. And that my friend is why I ride
