10.01.2022 ASK Asking someone is OK but think about your environment, asking someone in a busy and public place is likely to make them feel uncomfortable. Try and be friendly in your approach, and tell them what has given you cause to worry. They could be less chatty than normal, not turning up to the gym, they are missing out on some of their favourite activities. LISTEN The most important step in making a difference. Dont rush or interrupt them. Empathise and acknowledge what they ...are saying. Ask supportive questions like how are you feeling about that will encourage them to explain. ENCOURAGE ACTION There is a fine line between encouraging action and telling someone what to do, ask questions like what have you done before to manage these feelings, what is something you can do right now. If you can relate, perhaps mention something. Having someone else go through the same thing can sometimes take some pressure off.
