25.01.2022 Remember German Jenia who was posing at After Dark on Sunday? Well she'll be posing for Mt Hawthorn tomorrow night, 21 October!! We think she is divine and looks like some kind of gorgeous European fertility goddess - less "Venus of Wilendorf" and more "Aslaug of Vikings". She'll be doing 2-15 min poses over the 2 hours. And won't be bringing her sausage dogs Evie and Riley.... ... unless you all really really want them there. Here's a picture from her posing on Sunday morning. 25.01.2022 This fantastic exhibition is on at STALA Contemporary Art on Cleaver Street in North Perth at the moment. 4 artists with 4 very different but cohesive styles work in perfect harmony in this showing - painting, etching, print making and concrete sculptures. If youre in the vicinity on Saturday pop in to hear the artist talk or just jump in and have a meander through the work while its up.

22.01.2022 City of Vincent have finally sorted out permissions, licences and other assorted red tapey things so we can get the show back on the road! Well be starting back up on Wednesday nights - 2 September. Put it in your diaries - and well create a booking link if youd like to pay online. Keeping the numbers to 10 max at the moment - to make sure we all fit :-)... The quick sketch done below via Zoom by David Lachman. Reminds of the illustrations that went with Roald Dahls stories.

22.01.2022 So we think that we might change the event length to 2 hours and chop out most of the break. Keep it to a brief 5 minute breather and then get back into it. Well drop the price to $18 for full price and keep the concession as $15. What do you all think about this? And would you prefer it to start at 6:30 or 7pm? We are all ears!

19.01.2022 Reminder that life drawing is on tonight (Wed) in Mt Hawthorn - 7-9pm. Model will be Jane so expect dynamic, strong and graceful poses. There are plenty of tables to lean on and a handful of easels to use. BYO snacks and beverage (we have wine glasses!) and keep yourself fuelled for the 2 hour... session - we don't have a formal break so nosh when you need to. If you haven't been to the session before, The Art Garage is down a little laneway behind the bus stop at 191 Scarborough Beach Road. They have a gift shop out the front in bright pink and charcoal - Gift TAF. So head down the right hand side of that. This hat might be featuring in the session tonight as seen here in Graham's drawings from Monday morning Figure Art Bassendean. He's also a regular at the new Life Drawing Ellenbrook session on Thursday mornings.

Life drawing sessions are still running strong from After Dark Gallery & Studio in Perth CBD via Zoom and in real life and we have another session on tomorrow at 10am. You can Zoom into the session or you can come along and draw with us. Were at 10-14 Pier Street on the top floor. The gallery is a dark space so we can create some great lighting on the models. 15.01.2022 You are all as keen as mustard to get back into life drawing in real life! We had a couple of people turn up last week at the door hoping we were starting. Apologies, I should have included a start date on the revised banner. Was too keen to let you all know we are back on like Donkey Kong - and were starting THIS WEEK! Model for the first week back will be Curvaceous Jane. Poses will be 2-20 minutes.... To that end, weve created a booking link to make it easier for people to pay online. This booking link will also be open until after the break. That way, if you turned up at the last moment and want to pay for your session you still can do it online. Makes it a bit easier and means we dont have to remember to bring (and charge!) the card reader thingy. You may remember her as the "Mother of Ferrets" when she came in to pose with those 2 little furry rascals for the first half and then posed regular life model style for the second half. 14.01.2022 So many people seem to have re-discovered the simple creative pleasures of life during these weird Covid times - from baking and reading to de-cluttering and drawing. We've all seen an bunch of new faces at drawing sessions right around town - and it has been wonderful to get an injection of new people into an old pastime. If you are new to drawing or just want to move your mind set, we've organise Andy Quilty to pop in to present a workshop on the afternoon of Sunday, 11 O...ctober, 2pm-5pm. It's a full 3hr workshop (the last 2 workshops we haven't bothered with having a formal break as everyone has been so busy drawing they haven't wanted to stop). This session is for beginners and experienced artists, anyone who is keen to change the way they think and see drawing. Due to Covid things we've limited the number of participants in this workshop to 14 so you'll all have plenty of elbow and breathing space. If youre keen for a real life session, then we invite you to come to the After Dark studio in the Perth CBD on Pier Street to have a draw - were all allowed to gather now so were making the most of it. City of Perth Parking is also free for 3 hours on the weekends, so you can grab a spot in the Pier Street carpark and just walk down the hill to the corner of St Georges Terrace. There are a few flights of stairs to walk up - but dont worry, we all think we could do with doing a little more exercise after walking up them ;-) $10 for 2 hours, online via Zoom or in real life.
