20.01.2022 EMBRACE - Part 2. Three peas in a pod. A portrait of the beautiful connection between a mum and her boys. As your boys grow older you want to be able to keep that connection and if lucky enough see it reflected back to you in a photograph. 14.01.2022 Times feel uncertain and you can find yourself missing so much of what you ‘normally’ get to do for work. It certainly is a bumpy, stop-start-stop journey for so many businesses at the moment including small businesses like mine. BUT you do your best to trust it will past, to believe in the strength of all we need to be doing (and not doing) right now and to stay positive. 12.01.2022 Rejuvenation Mental and physical rejuvenation is so important to keep doing what you do well and stay on track as a family. And after such an extended busy and unsettled period we sure are feeling so grateful to have gotten away on a little local getaway at the moment. So why you might ask why on earth do I still have my camera in my hand??!! Well the answer is very simple... I get so much joy out of pouring myself into creating your images full of love that I want some of some of that beauty for my own little family. 11.01.2022 Occupational Hazard! Sometimes I have been known to get misty-eyed behind the camera and this shoot was a classic example of that! I was just bowled over by this gorgeous family's radiance (who I am also lucky to call friends) as they showered their very special baby boy Sebastian with love. This shoot was sheer heaven with 6 month old Baby Sebastian turning on the charm! And his gorgeous fam - well they were just glowing in the sweet winter light right along with him. 10.01.2022 My Loves Mid-year, in between lockdowns we somehow escaped and had a gorgeous getaway. A beautiful treat on our time away was having some photos by the oh.so.clever Tarlow Photography + Film. After all I have to practice what I preach right?! Image Makers as a whole have been impacted immensely by the required closure of their businesses under lockdowns, lack of clarity surrounding the return to work, and laws surrounding masks. The profession is eager to return to work, safely, but the restrictions of mandatory mask wearing as it stands currently makes that impractical at the very least. We, as photographers and video producers are asking that clients are allowed an ex...emption from the mandatory mask rule while actively being photographed by a professional; returning their mask immediately after. It is impossible for image makers, specifically in the genres of portraiture, wedding, family and corporate to work and capture images of people without seeing their face. However, being professionally photographed or filmed is not currently a justifiable reason to remove one’s mask, yet our whole profession relies on this. Please help us safely get back to work as soon as possible. 07.01.2022 EMBRACE - Part 3. A personal one tonight on holding tight, letting go and trusting that your best - even an 'adjusted' best - will always be good enough. I have found the journey in the age of COVID-19 such an arm wrestle. Wanting to hold tight and push on with 'normal' ways of doing and thinking but knowing that I need to loosen my grip, be fluid and in many cases let go. Knowing that I want to do things the same way to the same 'standards' but need to embrace change and... alternative ways that are more fitting to the times. Feeling uptight but knowing and appreciating that will get me or us collectively nowhere - and fast! So where is my arm wrestle with COVID-19 at the moment? Well I have found an enhanced appreciation for the need to be as centered as possible and am trying to let that lead the way and emanate outward - especially when it comes to the kids. Even when the situations and changes we consistently find ourselves facing drag us elsewhere I just try to find that centered place again rather than cracking the proverbial and throwing in the towel. Easy no. Bit by bit - yes! Most of all I have begun to trust more that my best will actually be enough and believe in that as a source of comfort and energy. Even an 'adjusted best' as need be - it will be enough. Your best and 'adjusted best' will be enough too. Hope you are being kind to yourselves. Love KJxx P.S. 06.01.2022 We made it. After a few gorgeous days away with my dad as his bday pressie we’ve now moved on to our next and final stop - just us - for Sime’s big bday week! It might not be Mexico and we might not be swimming with whale sharks but there will be whale watching, lots of good food, exploring off our front porch (how’s THAT view??!!) and a few surprises along the way. Most of all this guy finally gets a break - from bushfires to Covid - this guy finally gets a break! And we get him!! Hallelujah!! P.S. We even had a glorious rainbow on arrival.
