25.01.2022 Yesterday we launched Check In With A Friend. We want you to take the pledge and be a change-maker with us. 34 legends have taken the pledge so far! With the support of the Latrobe Health Assembly, this campaign is here to stir, groundswell and create a massive local movement that sends the message to people who are struggling that our community cares. We care. Shame and stigma has no place in mental health, but support does. ... Simply head to www.llg.org.au/checkinwithafriend and take the pledge today. Were also offering to send printed resources via post if you supply your address. This will include a sticker to pop on your car, a business window or anywhere people can see it. Spread the word and check in. See more

23.01.2022 When the organisers of National Reconciliation Week announced this years theme of In This Together last year, little did they know how much it would resonate in our current COVID world. Its a reminder however, that whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all in this together. Reconciliation is a journey all Australians must travel. Never have the communities we belong to been so important and its essential we build relationships that value Aboriginal and Torres S...trait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and futures. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. If you need support please reach out to us anytime of the day or night on 13 11 14 or text with us nightly, 6pm midnight (AEST) on 0477 13 11 14.

23.01.2022 This week is Mens Health Week. Lets all make a commitment to check in on the males in our lives. In 2018, 2320 men died by suicide in Australia. Take a moment to think about 2320 people in a room. Its too many, isnt it? One life lost to suicide is too many. Remember, its okay to ask for help. You dont have to go through what youre going through alone. ... Reach out to a loved one, friend, work colleague or someone you trust. If its all becoming too heavy, give your GP a call to book an appointment. If you need support were here anytime on 13 11 14. Dont feel like talking? Text us nightly, 6pm midnight (AEST) on 0477 13 11 14

22.01.2022 FUNDRAISER FOR LIFELINE! A moving story by one of our volunteers Board Members about the personal impact of COVID-19, compounded by the loss of a much loved pet. Daniel was inspired by his recent experiences to create a fundraiser for Lifeline Gippsland. If we raise enough, he will shave off his rather sizeable (or as he calls it, epic) ISO beard!

21.01.2022 Today marks the start of NAIDOC week. This year’s theme Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country and to celebrate and take pride in having the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. If you are struggling and need help, please reach out to us on 13 11 14. We are here for all Australians, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

20.01.2022 Well never forget meeting Linda, Sue and Vi here at the Morwell office when they came to meet with us to tell us that the Country Soul/ L.V. County Line Dancers & Rebel Bootscooters had chosen to support Lifeline Gippsland with a fundraising social event. The work that these incredible dance teachers and their students put into making the day a success and raising funds for Lifeline Gippsland is truly humbling. We are sharing the post written by Linda Pink: "L.V Country/Re...bel Bootscooters and Country Soul have decided to run a Get-Fit-September to raise as much money as we can while we are all in isolation. It will run for the whole of September and the goal is to become a little healthier. You can choose what your goal is for the month but it must be in the vein of Good Health. Examples, Lose Weight / Walk so many kilometers per week / Walk so many hours / Dance so many hours / Give up Chocolate) / or something that would help you become healthier. With sponsorship from family and friends hopefully, we can raise money by the end of the month when we reach/or nearly reach our health goals. It would be wonderful if you could see yourself supporting this cause and help us raise some much needed funds for Gippsland Lifeline. The flyer and also sponsorship form for this event are available from the website: www.lvbootscooters.com If you have family or friends that would like to join in they are more than welcome." Our CEO, Michelle, averages about 800 steps a day (she doesnt tend to move from her desk), so were challenging her to do 10 000 steps per day. The challenge is on!

04.01.2022 The health and safety of our amazing crew of retail volunteers, drivers and warehouse volunteers will always come first here at Lifeline Gippsland - were in the business of saving lives, not putting then at risk. Our at-risk volunteers who are over 70 or have chronic medical conditions that put them at high risk for COVID-19 are staying home and staying safe. We are facing a serious shortage of volunteers, and many of our shops remain closed, while others are open at sign...ificantly reduced hours. Were seeking retail volunteers and people to drive our trucks (you need a standard licence and a commitment to safe driving). We provide induction and training, including information about the stringent processes weve put in place to protect our volunteers and customers. If youve ever thought about volunteering, if youd like to meet new people, support a charity that saves lives and gain new experience, we need your help now more than ever before. Our shops help us to fund the 13 11 14 telephone crisis line. Please contact us for more info by emailing [email protected] or call 51 363 500.
