03.01.2022 Pilates online classes coming soon. Mat, Medi Ball, Foam Roller, Power Tubes and Suspension Training classes..... Stay TunedPilates online classes coming soon. Mat, Medi Ball, Foam Roller, Power Tubes and Suspension Training classes..... Stay Tuned

02.01.2022 Sorry in advance for the long post! Amongst the general public I think there are still a lot of misconceptions about Pilates. You hear things like its only for... women or only for dancers. Or Pilates is just stretching. I truly believe Pilates is for everyone! I started Pilates in the late 90s because I was working as a personal trainer and I was having some chronic neck soreness. I worked at a personal training studio and my boss at the time was trained in the mat work and reformer. I was primarily a heavy weight lifter at the time and so I really knew nothing about it. I decided to enroll in a course as the only male and I tell you I could squat 350 pounds for reps but I could not complete one set of side kicks kneeling. They absolutely destroyed me along with many of the other exercises. I was blown away at how weak I truly was despite my bulky appearance. One of my weaknesses at the time was my mid back including my lats, mid traps and rhomboids. I just couldnt connect into those muscles. I always did my back exercises with my upper traps and biceps. After a few months of doing Pilates and listening to my teacher scream at me across the room to drop my shoulders down! I started noticing I could feel my scapulas engage doing things like seated rows and pull-ups. It wasnt long before I started really developing my mid back. Before Pilates I had a very strong connection to my upper trapezius muscle and my hip flexors. It was just a great experience to learn how to engage all these other muscles. I also started getting more flexible and for the first time in my life I could touch my toes. My squat, deadlift and bench press all went up significantly because I could recruit muscles that I had never used before. My neck pain went away completely. My boss started complimenting me on my improved posture and said things like I no longer looked like some prehistoric human. Fast forward to the present at age 48 I have never had a shoulder, back or knee injury and I attribute that to my Pilates training. I have never had any other neck issues either. I do the mat work daily along with different classes and workshops. I also play in a over 40 baseball league and while many of the other players complain about their backs hurting along with their shoulders, necks and knees the day after a hard practice I feel great! I really try to encourage them to try Pilates and some of them have with great results. We cant change people who dont want to change themselves but I try to do what I can to spread the word! When people find out that I teach Pilates they are often a bit surprised because I dont fit the mold of what they think the typical Pilates enthusiast looks like. I simply explain to them Pilates is truly for everyone! See more

01.01.2022 Merry Christmas! Even Santa does Pilates!

01.01.2022 Should children do weight training .......... in my opinion the answer is no. When you have access to Suspension Trainers (originally known as a TRX) then you h...ave all the equipment you need. The TRX is ideal for strength development, core control, stability training and developing functional strength and control to all children. This can be done safely from home and all the family can participate. There is no age limit to this piece of equipment. If you have any questions or would like some more advanced exercises please let me know. See more
