25.01.2022 Pixie Needs a New Home, if anyone is able to help. I believe Pixie is in Margaret River Sadly, due a change of circumstance at home our beautiful Pixie is looking for a new home. Pixie is a 5 year old independent house cat who loves affection and snuggling on your lap. She is friendly towards adults but is quite shy and a little patience is needed to gain her trust. Unfortunately Pixie doesn't like children, dogs or other cats but would make a perfect companion to a quiet ho...usehold. She is sterilised, fully vaccinated, microchipped and has lifetime Shire registration. If you would like to enquire about Pixie please contact Mandy on 0415257977. See more

24.01.2022 I just saw a sheep and 2 dogs being walked on leads along Peel Terrace

24.01.2022 its basic and in the shed but it lets me make the right calls on skin lumps, itchy skins, bad ears, urinary tract problems.

23.01.2022 The cold weather is coming, make sure everyone stays warm and dry

23.01.2022 Another cutie for vaccination

22.01.2022 Thanks for a Great Christmas and NewYear. We have been rather quiet on here because of the sudden upsurge in workload and taking some time for ourselves to finish a fantastic 2017. Your continued support and and generous referrals have kept us flat out through the year and hopefully into the coming year. Working in such a great community of animal carers has been a massive positive. See you all next year

22.01.2022 Crazy times and rapidly changing regulations. We will continue to be open for the immediate future and will be changing things to try and keep everyone safe and healthy. Pets and people this time . Please be open with us about any concerns you might have and equally let us know if you have been requested to self isolate or are felling unwell at the time of booking. Remember the guidelines for social distancing and contact. Where possible it is is best to keep direct communi...cation to a single adult. We are going to consult outside in all cases that we can. We need a fenced, secure yard or a carport to work in so that no one escapes. If you would rather, we have set up a skype account and can offer consults to existing clients in this fashion. As always we can offer advice by phone, text and continue to supply medications to your door. Stay safe and try to enjoy the unexpected family time.

22.01.2022 If you are leaving messages from a hidden number . I can only call you back if you leave your contact details in the message . Thanks

22.01.2022 Awesome, Awesome idea, sounds like they are busy so if you would like to help use their website to register your interest

20.01.2022 These winter days are really really hard to deal with. Great clients, Great Sunsets, Great Job what more would you need

20.01.2022 There seems to be quite a bit of worry about parvo in the local community currently . It is important not to be scared by the reports of parvovirus in local areas, rather to try and understand the situation so you know what to do. Parvovirus predominantly affects dogs that have had minimal vaccination , mostly young dogs who have not had a full vaccination response. Young puppies that are vaccinated will on average respond to vaccines and become immune with just one single... effective vaccine. The talk of a vaccine course is something a misnomer , vaccines are not cumulative . Rather we give multiple vaccines to ensure all individuals are protected. The statistics for how many puppies (percent of those vaccinated) respond to a single vaccine at each age are : approximately 50% of puppies at the 6-8 week age will be immune approximately 80-85% of puppies at 10-12 weeks will be immune approximately 98% of puppies vaccinated at 16 weeks will be immune Immunity to Parvo virus vaccines is highly protective and long lasting , in adult dogs this immunity will last for a minimum of 3 years in the vast majority of adult dogs. immunity does not simply disappear at the end of this period but rather is gradually declining. Hopefully this may help you understand things a bit better and allay some fears. If you are not sure where your dogs vaccines are then give your vets a call and they can help .

19.01.2022 it's been a tough week!

19.01.2022 Great news for anyone who's dog is on heart medications. Pimobendan (sold as Vetmedin) now has an alternate that should be some 25% more affordable for the same product. If your dog use's Vetmedin ask your vet about the new alternate Cardisure

18.01.2022 This is the work of one of my clients sons. I think he is pretty damn talented and that these pictures would look great on anyones wall. Give Shasa Michael Photography a look if you agree

16.01.2022 While the kids are counting down to Christamas, We are counting down to our annual holiday . We have been flat out and need a recharge. We will be closed from the 23rd of December to the 4th of January . If you need medications topped up before then please let us know and we will do our best to get things sorted. If you need an appointment we are already booked to friday afternoon with only 2 more consulting days and 1 surgical day left to book. 16.01.2022 This sounds like fun, I might see some of you out there on the course

15.01.2022 We saw our first snake of the season on a warmer day last week, It was crossing the highway at Yayalup. Which is a timely reminder to be aware. During the warmer months of the year, snake bites are a fairly common occurrence If you walk you dogs in areas near bushland even the coastal strip along the bay then be very aware of this possibility. Keeping dogs on a lead whilst walking , keeping the grass in your yard mowed and ensuring that debris is removed to reduce hiding pl...aces in your yard are just some steps that can be taken to reduce the possibilty Signs of snake bite can include collapse, vomiting, difficulty breathing, and weakness and staggering. If there is a collapse and then improvement seen this is thought to be associated with enough venom being injected to cause serious problems. The onset to paralysis and death can be rapid and immediate attention and treatment is imperative. We DON'T stock antivenom and suggest you call one of the well equipped local veterinarian hospitals to confirm they have sufficent stock of antivenom and are able to see your pet immediately. Being mobile we could be unable to attend quick enough and without the ability to hospitalise we are not able to treat these cases as they need to be. If you suspect your dog or cat may have been bitten by a snake, try to calm them and get them to a local vet hospital. Do not wait for your pet to develop more advanced signs before seeking help. Do not wait for a delayed appointment or call back. It is defintely better they are in a hospital with a catheter in and not needing treatment for a few hours than waiting for progression. Early treatment of snake bites gives the best outcomes .

15.01.2022 Thanks for a great week. I really am lucky to have such a great community of pet owners to work amongst. See you all out and about for the rest of it

15.01.2022 not the steadiest camera work and you can still see why these little fella's can make your pets ears so itchy

14.01.2022 We have had some long days this week already and thats has brought us into contact with some courageous and compassionate people. In the last 2 days we have met 2 new adult rescue dogs , welcomed into families with with love and kindness. People are good and I am lucky to work with them and their animals

14.01.2022 These are the little moments that make working late worthwhile. Out and back in Abba river

14.01.2022 What a difference a day makes, work hard, let the dog play hard

13.01.2022 I wish I had a dash cam. I just saw a dog wearing a cap and glasses. Riding on the back of a Moped coming onto Peel Terrace. No I havent been drinking!

12.01.2022 Yesterday we found this little mite burrowed into the skin of a young dog. It is a demodex mite and can cause a moth eaten appearance in the coat density of, most commonly, younger animals. We find Bravecto a very easy way to manage this problem once it has been diagnosed. Diagnosis involves scraping of a small amount of skin or plucking of some hair follicles and then examination under a microscope. This is one of the reasons we collect samples from itchy dogs and cats

12.01.2022 4 seasons in one day

12.01.2022 Christmas is nearly upon us, and we will be taking our annual break. We think it is well deserved. Especially as we have discovered and exceeded capacity this week. Most importantly it means check your pets medications and if you need more let us know now so we can get them to you before we close on the 21st.

11.01.2022 Something to be aware of , thanks Dunsborough Vets for keeping us informed

11.01.2022 The mobile phone network I rely on is showing SOS only this morning. We are fully booked through to 7.30 pm tonight so if you have an urgent need please call one of the local hospitals if you cant get through to me

11.01.2022 Its two weeks flying solo and thanks to my last colleagues I'm never short on coffee whilst on the go.

11.01.2022 700 grams of cuteness. We are taking guesses on what she might be?

11.01.2022 Cutest patient of the day? It was pretty close today but we don't often get to see baby rabbits. Sorry Emma

11.01.2022 Great flowers for the wife from Michelle and her random acts of kindness https://www.facebook.com/onerusticbloom/?hc_ref=ARSfLDV3QVhezNdi6x00G6vWUuGhxe2QoYrmjakM2EWlgewuf7Cr0sKBX759e13vhoQ

10.01.2022 Now that's a splinter!

10.01.2022 Anyone looking for a little male border collie ? Largest one in the litter is available. They have just been vaccinated , wormed and chipped and are all very healthy.

08.01.2022 We have been flat out this month and apologies to any of you that we just couldn't accomodate. We took on some extra help to get through Satúrdays workload,

08.01.2022 Just a little heads up for anyone on some of the grain free diets. In the last few days there has been worrying information about an increase in heart disease possibly associated with Taurine deficency. As yet things aren't fully understood, you can read more about it here. http://vetnutrition.tufts.edu//a-broken-heart-risk-of-hea/

07.01.2022 What a great morning at the Geovet pet parade. Fun and prizes for all and somehow Fox and Finley managed to win the most obedient dog competition

07.01.2022 Stiff and sore try something a bit different. We are blessed to have 2 of only a handful of fully qualified animal physiotherapists so close by. Both Charlotte and Jane have degree level qualification in human physiotherapy and have cross trained to be able to offer their wonderful specialised expertise to our pets. They can not only help with the obvious post surgical rehabilitation and chronic pain management but also general exercise programs to help with flexibility. Str...ength and conditioning work. TEN's machine to help recover function after nerve injury or spinal surgery. Give them a call and see if their skills fit you needs. We rate them very highly http://agilityrehab.net.au/ http://toplinephysiotherapy.com/

06.01.2022 Someone loves his bed

06.01.2022 Lively, crazy kelpie puppies . These 2 boys are looking for homes

06.01.2022 These 2 puppies need homes. I will be seeing them on Wednesday for their microchipping - if anyone is interested seriously then I can put their number forward.

06.01.2022 Thanks for your patience and patients today. Sorry I couldn't answer all your calls.

06.01.2022 Long days are great when you get to push the farm gate closed to the sound of sheep and see the milky way unspoilt by town lights or any moon.

05.01.2022 Just so the cat lovers dont feel left out , we have this one

05.01.2022 Puppies vaccination course. What does that mean , it's really just a term that has minimal real meaning. For young dogs to attain immunity they only need one effective vaccine. The problem is we dont know when each individual puppy responds to a vaccine or when they may lose their mothers milk based protection. Therefore we vaccinate young puppies multiple times and call this a course. The take home message is that - the first vaccine at 6 to 8 weeks of age only protects ab...out 50% of puppies. the second vaccine around 10 or 12 weeks is effective in about 85% of puppies and that a final vaccine at 16 weeks pushes effectiveness to 98%. Talk with your vet about whats best for your puppy and you. See more

05.01.2022 We have had a timely reminder that 1080 is out in the forest. Be careful with your dogs . Fantastic mister fox has had a lucky escape this time

05.01.2022 We have been talking ourselves out of a bit of work lately - I don't believe adult animals need vaccinating every year. If you have been sent a reminder for your annual vaccine it may be an elective vaccine. We vaccinate adult animals that do not visit boarding establishments as youngsters, then at 1 , 4, 7 and 10 years of age. Give us a call or send a photo of your vaccine record if you need any advice on where your pet is at

04.01.2022 It's 2 years since I first sat down and started a website. I think it needs updating and would love some more pictures of animals and local landmarks. If you have photos of your animals that you would be happy for me to use then please share them here and I will see if I can get larger versions off you to then upload as I work on the next version. Not enough hours in the day

04.01.2022 Whilst we have been busy treating sick pets, the clever ladies at https://www.facebook.com/WorkClobberNamesPlus/ have sorted these for us. So easy to work with and great affordable quality results. Thanks very much names plus and work clobber

04.01.2022 A bit of weekend fun for all of you. Tag an owner who needs one of these for their dog

02.01.2022 What is the most convienent way to visit the vet? Don't visit the vet, have the vet come to you. We are doing things the good old fashioned way and providing a thorough service and great value in the convienece of your own home. If the kids won't sit still, the animals are too boisterous or the puppies just too numerous.... If you haven't enough hands or hours in the day then let us take the stress out of visiting the vets and come to you. Lifestyle Vets bringing quality veterinary care to everyone

02.01.2022 This is Charlie, she had a problem known as pyometra. Pyometera is basically an abcess that forms inside the dogs uterus and can most simply be avoided by having your dog speyed before it develops In Charlie's case she wasnt currently in a postion to afford the higher costs associated with pyometra surgery , luckily her owners werent going to give up on her and we managed to use medical therapy to get her through to a stable enough state to wait for funds to be available and ...get her speyed Charlie was lucky she had an open pyometra and chances were about 80% for her , in cases of closed pyometra response to medical treatment is only about 30%, without treatment almost all dogs with pyometra will die. Pyometra occurs in entire female dogs in the few weeks after they have had a season and is the reult of certain changes in the female reproductive tract , mostly associated with attemtps to conceive. Reduced local immunity so that the sperm are not attacked, reduce uterine muscle contraction so that things are not expelled and relaxation of a normally tightly sealed cervix(gateway to the uterus). Along with hormonal changes that affect thickening and changes in the uterine lining - these all combine to allow a secondary infection to develop What are the risks of pyometra , a large UK RSPCA study and a swedish study have suggested the risk is about 2% for each year of life. The swedish study suggested the approximate risk over the life time of unneutered dogs was 24%. A small scale beagle study estimated the lifetime risk as 15% Pyometra figures in the UK have increased at some of the charity hospitals over the last 10 years whilst elective neutering has dropped

02.01.2022 We are often asked if we can do surgery. Yes we can. We are glad to be able to offer surgical options to those who are in need. Thanks to some co-operation between Bunbury and Eaton and Lifestyle Vets a sharing of Surgical facilities has allowed us to provide you with a surgical option in a fantastic safe, clean and recently refurbished environment. We can collect patients and deliver back to your door for added convenience.

02.01.2022 Sorry if I missed anyone's call this afternoon. It was so hot that the phone overheated and had to go into the fridge for a while.
