14.01.2022 We are very glad to announce that Dr Simone Dowling is joining the Lilian Cooper Centre next month starting 5th Feb. She brings with her years of experience in general practice dealing with women's health. She brings with her a passion for health care for women and adolescents.You can now book an appointment online with her by visiting our website (www.liliancoopercentre.com.au) Dr Simone Dowling graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Science and ...a Bachelor of Medicine. After graduation she worked at Gosford Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital, prior to choosing to specialise in General Practice. Simone has completed her Diploma of Child Health and her Fellowship of General Practice and has since worked as a General Practitioner in both regional and rural NSW. Simone has worked in the Faculty of Medicine at Notre Dame University Sydney, as a senior academic lecturer. Simone moved to Brisbane with her family in 2011, where she expanded her General Practice experience working for Medibank After-Hours GP Hotline, Family Planning Queensland/TRUE and Inala Primary Care. Simone is passionate about complete health care for women and adolescents, including reproductive health, sexual health, obstetric care, contraception and the management of menopause. Her broader General Practice interests cover mental health and chronic disease management including diabetes, kidney disease and cardiovascular disease. Simone is a registered GP Shared Care Doctor with the Mater Mothers’ Hospital and a Diabetes Fellow with the Brisbane South Complex Diabetes Service. She is also involved in teaching and supervision of training GP’s. Simone is excited to be joining the experienced team at the Lillian Cooper Centre in early 2020. 04.01.2022 MEASLES ALERT FOR SOUTH BRISBANE There has been a confirmed case of measles in Brisbane's South. The individual spent time at the following locations whi...le unknowingly being contagious. - Flight QF 52 (Singapore to Brisbane) flight that arrived at Brisbane airport at 6 am on Friday 17 January 2020. - In the Brisbane international airport area from 6 am 8 am on Friday 17 January 2020. Members of the public who were in these areas, on this date, need to be alert for symptoms of measles for the next three weeks. The symptoms usually start around 10 days after contact with the infectious person, but is known to occur between seven and 18 days after contact. The initial symptoms of measles include fever, lethargy, runny nose, moist cough and sore and red eyes. This is followed a few days later by a blotchy, red rash. The rash often starts on the face then becomes widespread over the body. Contact your GP or call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for more information. If you have any of the measles symptoms contact your GP and remember it is VERY important to call the medical practice first if you think you might have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid you spreading it to others. Anyone born after 1965 who was in these areas and who has not been fully vaccinated against measles (two doses of MMR) should contact their GP.
