21.01.2022 Do you have a BUSINESS NAME ? Is it due for Renewal soon ? Be sure to use the Official ASIC website to renew your business name to save yourself some of your hard-earned money. There are "providers" who will do it for you - but charge much more than the ASIC Fee. ... I received a letter from one today offering to renew my practice business name. They wanted to charge me $99 when ASIC charges $35 for one year or $199 when ASIC's fee is only $82. I know I'll be doing it myself when the time comes to renew.

11.01.2022 With the Federal Election this weekend we feel it important to share some information from BMT Depreciation Specialists on the Negative Gearing Policy proposed by the two major parties... We also feel its very important to sort out the rhetoric and emotions from the facts when considering promises - but we are talking politics which is very often "muddied" by emotions.. Please consider this article when making your vote count.... https://www.bmtqs.com.au//what-should-you-know-about-neg/

04.01.2022 Jobkeeper Payment is a Fraud. What was presented as a lifeline for small businesses - likely many of whom that are already cash strapped - has now been fully explained by the ATO and the rules outlined. To eligible ... you (the employer) ... 1. have to sign up all your eligible employees to the scheme 2. have to pay all your eligible employees $1500 per fortnight BEFORE you receive ANY funds from the ATO/Government 3. therefore have to have enough money to be able to FUND the wages for those employees for the first month 4. have to pay AT LEAST $1500 per fortnight to each employee - or you are entitled to $0 subsidy 5. have to report PAID wages to the ATO - at least monthly - AND confirm you are still paying those employees AND also report your income for the month. And if you have no work for these eligible employees - which in many cases IS the case now - you get NOTHING - tangible - in return. You are effectively doing the work of Centrelink - for no reward. A great scheme ... NOT ! Read the full explanation here https://www.ato.gov.au/General/JobKeeper-Payment/ And I strongly suggest you contact your local Member - whatever their political persuasion ... and voice your concern about the impracticality of this scheme for many small business who are ... like many employees ... living pay cheque to pay cheque.

03.01.2022 STP - Single Touch Payroll is now law for all employers: From 1 July 2018 for 20 or more employees From 1 July 2019 for 20 or less... With Some Exemptions and deferrals available depending on your existing software.... BUT .. closely held employers (most family businesses) have just been granted an exemption until 1 July 2020 ... So the ATO can work out the processes so we (your accountants) can lodge at the same time as your quarterly BAS. Good News ... And a Common Sense Result. Talk to us to learn how it will impact your business.
