Adding a band can assist in restoring normal glide between bones, and normal range of movement in the ankle. It can be used to relieve & improve pain or the sense of pinching at the front of the ankle. Be careful with loading heavy weight on the knee if you have any preexisting injuries. 1. Mobilise 2. Hip extension is produced by prime mover gluteus maximus and is essential for any sport/movement involving the lower body. This muscle is often deactivated and weak, a result of our slack modern couch potato habits. If you want to improve sport performance and general well being then ensure you attach these or any glute exercise to your weekly routine. Your 70 year old self will thank you down the track!!

12.01.2022 My right hip has been giving me grief this week. It coincides with me taking on extra work, and more time behind the wheel. In addition to getting back in the gym to improve hip stability, mobility is very important. This squat assists ankle and hip mobility, and reaching to the sky opens the chest improving rotation through your upper back. Most weekend warriors stuck behind the desk all week will have a degree of mobility deficit within their hips and thoracic spine (upper back)! I’ll address this in a future post. I often do this squat/tech before before a surf, with a few other dynamic exercises. @ Merewether Ocean Baths
