The Low Lunge Isometric Hold is one of the best exercises you’ll be able to do at home to maintain some strength and athletic movement ability without needed any equipment. With the benefits of giving both muscle activation and single leg bracing improvements , completing 3-4 sets of 1 minute each side is a great way to improve muscle control and muscular endurance. Here are 3 of the key aspects we focus on here at Limitless to minimize the risk of ACL tears in all our athletes - ACTIVATION Muscle activation is an easy way to ensure the joint takes minimal load during movements. Strong, active muscles allow for a faster bracing rate and stronger more stable joint. The Prone Scissors shown in the video is a great way t...o force activation through both the glute med. and glute max and the quads. All key muscles used to support the knee. - MOVEMENT QUALITY Whether it be landing, agility or deceleration, many ACL injuries occur from lack of absorption and control through the hips and knee during athletic movements. Therefore, ensuring movement quality is high in all aspects of movement is an easy way to reduce ACL risk. - SPEED SPECIFICITY ACL injuries generally occur at speeds and with forces greater than what the knee is able to stabilize in. Whether it be a sharp change of direction or slight change of pace to break through a gap or escape away from an opponent. Here are some examples of how both a curved and weaving run can be used to train your non-linear speed and improve your efficiency to be able to beat your opponent in multiple aspects of athleticism. - As shown in these videos, with some of their sports most athletic players, Patrick Dangerfield and Carlin Isles. They both have a very impressive ability to maintain high speed in non-linear running and breakaway from opponents with ease.
