FULL STORY: For as long as I remember I had never been happy with myself and always wanted to lose weight but as much as I wanted to, my self confidence was so low I didn't think anything would help. My weight didn't ...only affect me physically but mentally and emotionally. My mind set was so negative that I tried to make excuses like I don't have time to exercise or it won't work anyway. For me it wasn't about getting skinny, it was about changing my mindset and my perception about myself. I had tried so many times in the past but never lasted longer than a week. When I hit my highest weight ever last year I knew I had to do something, not necessarily because of the weight but because I couldn't live with myself either. That's the moment I chose to change my lifestyle, booked into PT with Troy and I have never looked back. Troy not only pushed me to achieve my goals but supported me to do so, in a positive and uplifting environment. If you had a bad week, he would support you through it and move forward. With a change of lifestyle you change everything: your eating habits, your exercise habits and most importantly your mindset. It's not about eating just lettuce or chicken and broccoli seven days a week and getting sick of it, it's about making healthier choices and enjoying them.The past year has been horrible with two deaths very close to me, instead of breaking down completely I used the gym as my outlet. I am proud to say I have come a long way physically but I more say I have mentally. I am more self confident, I smile more and I laugh more. I am just generally a lot happier. Looking back a year ago, you never would have seen me wearing clothes that weren't black and made me look smaller than I was. A year ago I would never have had the confidence to put a photo up of myself in a bikini. A year ago, the scales were my biggest nightmare, I never would've thought I would be where I am today and achieved what I have achieved. I must say I have a fair way to go regarding my self confidence but I know that with the right mind set, anything is possible. All of my progress wouldn't have been possible without Troy as my PT he not only pushed me and supported me to reach my goals but was understanding and went that extra mile to ensure I did.

Nathan suffers from cerebral palsy a permanent movement disorder commonly resulting in postural abnormalities but has shown significant improvement in next to no time... Can't wait for a few months time. What a star!

25.01.2022 After a shocking car accident a number of years ago, Patrick was told by physicians he’d never ride a bike, squat, or likely run again. He can now do all of the above and more. This is his story: I started sessions with Troy after I was involved in a car accident and sustained horrible injuries to my knees. My injuries prevented me from doing many things from playing sports to simply kneeling or running. From our first session Troy had already set up a plan and we worked tog...ether to achieve the goals we set. Every session with Troy got better and better as I could really see and feel my self accomplishing more, and becoming stronger. Suddenly my goal of being able to ride a bicycle again was close enough I could touch it and a few weeks ago I bought myself a new bike and went on my first ride. I was hard to work through all the pain and the emotional toll was large, but Troy was there with me all the way, encouraging me to do my best and teaching me how to be physically and mentally stronger. If it wasn’t for Troy I don’t believe I would have come as far as I have. Over our sessions he become more like a friend than just a PT and that is so important as it makes the whole process of healing easier when a friend is helping you along. I would definitely recommend anyone in a similar situation to enquire with Troy, in all meanings of the words, he is a life saver! 22.01.2022 "For me it was about being functionally fit, strong and healthy. I did what I enjoyed and as I progressed so did my interest for fitness, now I'm obsessed" - LF trainer Troy Clancey describes his personal experience with fitness and why personal training was so important. FULL STORY: Fitness was something I had shown interest in from a young age, I loved playing sport and keeping active but didn’t learn of resistance training until I was approximately fifteen. During my young...er teenage years I spent a fair chunk of time in an EFM health club one of my friends was running and began to appreciate the importance of strength, flexibility and mobility. As a young teenager I was underweight from consistent exercise and unhealthy nutritional habits. My number one fitness goal was to look good and reach I point I was no longer considered ‘skinny’. I think what a lot of people don’t realise is that for a lot of teenagers and men being called ‘skinny’ can be as insulting as calling an overweight person ‘fat’. I certainly saw it as an attack on one of my largest insecurities and used that as motivation to keep training. From that point I began my personal training journey at the Australian Institute of Fitness. The AIF introduced me to some great ideas and people including my now great friend Matt Moss who not only coached me in my time there but continues to do so operating out of the The Strength & Movement Clinic SA. Without his constant support and in-depth knowledge I wouldn’t be the athlete, trainer or person I am today. For me it was about being functionally fit, strong and healthy. I did what I enjoyed and as I progressed, so did my interest for fitness, now I'm obsessed. My time at BLACKWOOD FITNESS has been amazing, I've been lucky enough to share knowledge with some of the best trainers in Adelaide and as a result have grown so much in my time here. I can’t believe how much I’ve learnt and the friends I’ve made. The future is going to be more hard work with even greater rewards. I can’t wait.

16.01.2022 "I love that one of Troy’s passions is to educate his clients about the reasons behind what he gets them to do." - Winner of the Ultimate PT Giveaway Laura gives a review of her session with Troy. FULL STORY: As soon as I met Troy I could tell that his passion for what he does is contagious. This excited me to learn what he had to share about strength training.... The session with Troy was focused on posterior chain activation. Troy taught me how to use correct technique and positioning and why this is important when using the posterior muscle groups. As the session went Troy explained each movement technically considering the body as a whole in a very clear way that is easy to understand. This allowed me learn more about the body and perform each movement with greater understanding. Troy taught me how to look after my lower back by doing particular stretches that instantly open up that area. He also taught me how to activate other muscles that are often forgotten about to prevent back injury. I love that one of Troy’s passions is to educate his clients about the reasons behind what he gets them to do. I felt informed and inspired to make changes to some of the exercises that I already do such as squats. I found Troy’s approach extremely professional, encouraging and passionate. While Troy is serious about what he does he doesn’t hold back from having a bit of a joke around. At the end of the session Troy provided me with a program of everything that we did with the amount of sets, reps and timing for each exercise. I feel confident to use this program on my own a few times a week knowing that I’ve got the technique down and it will get results fast combined with other workouts.

"It is with heartfelt thanks that I write this note to you. I am very grateful for your professional help in restoring my shoulder to pre accident mobility. It is nice ...to be back to using my right arm/shoulder normally and without any pain. As you know following my severe accident that fractured my collar bone, scapula and ribs in July 2015, my recovery had been steady but slow to a stage that I could use my right arm/shoulder. However, I was experiencing a lack of flexibility and a lot of discomfort doing everyday tasks. After 6 sessions with you (and with your cheerful encouragement), the pain and discomfort has gone, and my flexibility and confidence in using my arm/shoulder is back. Of particular help has been the treatment of the ‘trigger points’ and the many and varied stretching exercises. It’s been a novel experience to hang from my shed rafters! Thank you. 10.01.2022 Congratulations to LF client Hannah on passing her military grade fitness assessments at Royal Military College after six weeks of preparation with Troy. "I had two tests to train for this year at RMC. The first a basic fitness assessment. Push-ups, sit ups, a run and a heave hang. This assessment is quite easy but I wanted to maximize results and work on my shoulder strength. I blitzed any of my previous scores in three years.... The second assessment was the Combat PESA. A combat readiness assessment that encompasses a 10km pack March to time, fire and movement, Jerry carry and a box lift. I have never attempted this before and passed everything first go." Great work from a very hard worker and an absolute weapon! If you or anyone you know is training for a specific sport, role or position... You know where to go!
