23.01.2022 Total Fire Ban for Monday 30th Jan 2017 for the whole state of Victoria. Its time to do all those preparations around the house for a bad day tomorrow. Ive run... the Bureau of Met figures for the projected Wind, Temp, Relative Humidity, Drought index (currently 9.3/10 for Mt Moornappa) into the computer program that predicts fire behaviour. Flame heights in the forest up to 50 m (more in steep country) with a spotting distance of 7.7 km! This means all of the Valencia brigade area could reasonably be expected to suffer ember attack should a forest fire start. The Seaton fire yesterday shows that the cleaned up road reserves offered no resistance to fire progress. Our reserves are more heavily fueled. Utes, farm machines should carry their statutory 9 L extinguisher/ knapsack. On the last day before school, recreational paddock bombs/motor bikes should really be grounded. Hopefully the Genie will not get out of the bottle and all these warnings will amount to nothing. But good preparation will not go amiss. Good management - luck will have little to do with it! Capt. Monty. See more

23.01.2022 PLEASE register your burn BEFORE ignition. Thanks Captain Ash

23.01.2022 Giving accurate location information when you call 000 can make a huge difference to the time it takes for #emergency services to get to you. "Emergency +" is a...n app for your phone that gives you an address if you are unsure where you are, and at the touch of a button on your screen, allows you to call 000, Victoria State Emergency Service or Victoria Police (non urgent calls). Make it easier for us to get to you faster by giving accurate location information. It could save a life. Maybe even yours. #emergencyplus #cfavic #vicses #vicpol #av #mfbfire #vicfires You can find the app here for: http://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au/ Apple: http://bit.ly/emergplus Android: http://bit.ly/EmergencyPlus Windows: http://bit.ly/windowsPh

22.01.2022 A timely reminder of how dry our winter is please make sure you dispose of cigarette butts appropriately!! CFA Gippsland

21.01.2022 Come and see us today at the Lindenow market (behind the bowls club) theres a sausage sizzle and plenty of great stalls to see.

19.01.2022 Saturday 6th January has been declared a day of TOTAL FIRE BAN for the entire state of Victoria and brigades are being placed on high alert for what could be a ...very difficult day. This means you cannot allow a fire to start or continue to burn. For more information visit http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warn/total-fire-bans-and-ratings/ Captain Dave

19.01.2022 Fire restrictions commence 0100hrs Monday 16 October in East Gippsland Shire Council and Wellington Shire Council. This is 6-8 weeks ahead of normal and highlig...hts the early start to the bushfire season in East Gippsland. Consultation with experienced locals on the ground confirms the research and evidence that has been released recently to indicate that Gippsland is likely to have an above average bushfire season 2017/18. We encourage the community to prepare NOW for what is possibly going to be a busy bushfire season across much of Gippsland. Permits to burn after 16 October are available from CFA District Headquarters (Sale and Bairnsdale), DELWP Offices, East Gippsland Shire and Wellington Shire Offices. The message is simple; PREPARE NOW!

19.01.2022 Good morning everyone! Today is the day. As of 0100hrs this morning, the 2017/18 Fire Danger Period is in. This means that Fire restrictions are now in force i...n the Wellington and East Gippsland shires. If youve had a last minute burn off over the weekend please make sure it is fully extinguished (cold) now. For information on the Fire Restrictions visit http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/war/about-the-fire-danger-period/ Please share this post as a reminder to your friends and neighbours in these two council areas! Cheers, Captain Dave

18.01.2022 Q. Whats worse than your house being on fire? A. Your house burning down because your fire hydrant was inaccessible!

18.01.2022 Dont be fooled by the rain.

18.01.2022 Absolute scum act. Many voluntary organisations put alot of time and effort in to get the funds to purchase items such as chainsaws and brigade owned vehicles etc, to have someone steal it and sometimes they are torched somewhere to hide the evidence. And to lot of them its all a bit of fun. Absolutely gut wrenching. If you do come across anything please let the appropriate people know.

18.01.2022 It's been a busy week in East Gippsland with the bushfire season starting early. Drought factors (60-80) in some part of far East Gippsland are already high. Th...e bush is dry and the ground moisture content is low. So we're busy consulting on the best date to introduce fire restrictions for East Gippsland and Wellington Shires. With an increasing number of fires starting as a result of private burns getting out of control during days on high northerly winds, it's time we take appropriate steps in the interests of community safety. We encourage land holders to prepare for the bushfire season by reducing the risk. Under strict burning controls to maintain safety, the risk can be reduced over summer. So Monday 9th or 16th October for the introduction of fire restrictions in Wellington and East Gippsland Shires is the question?

17.01.2022 Morning all. Nothing more needs to be said! http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/... Thanks to Sarah for a great article. Captain Dave.

16.01.2022 Q. What's worse than your house being on fire? A. Your house burning down because your fire hydrant was inaccessible!

15.01.2022 Come and see us today at the Lindenow market. (Behind the bowls club, access via footy oval) Theres a lot of stalls with a various range of things. See you all there.

12.01.2022 Keep an eye out for this scam!!! Please share.

12.01.2022 Hi everyone, Its that time of year again. See below for times near you. Have a great Christmas and a safe and happy new year.

11.01.2022 Take two minutes to safely experience three likely fire scenarios on an Extreme Fire Danger Rating day, as fire surrounds a virtual home and includes many eleme...nts of a fast approaching bushfire such as ember attack, radiant heat, low oxygen levels and lack of visibility due to smoke. If a bushfire threatened your home, would you know what to do? Theres no questioning the facts, leaving early on high risk days before a bushfire starts is always the safest option. You should always monitor warnings on high risk days and check Fire Danger Ratings daily throughout summer. Be prepared: http://emergency.vic.gov.au/prepare/ WARNING: This is a replicated bushfire scenario. Having a reaction to the experience is likely and forms part of the learning exercise, however, some people may be adversely affected, so it is recommended that you do not participate if you have suffered, or are currently impacted by any physical or mental health conditions.

10.01.2022 Another one today in our neighbouring brigade Glenaladale . Please be mindful of our current dry conditions even with the small amount of rain this week. This hay shed caught fire today as a result of an escaped burn off in grass.

09.01.2022 We are currently recruiting for new members, why not give it a go!! Challenge yourself....... If you have any questions give me a ring on 0402 737 866 Regards Captain Ash

07.01.2022 Its been a busy week in East Gippsland with the bushfire season starting early. Drought factors (60-80) in some part of far East Gippsland are already high. 07.01.2022 Today we had a grass and scrub fire to attend but it was first called into one of our members which isnt the correct way to report a fire. If you believe there... is a fire that appears to be out of control then ring 000 straight away. Your local brigade cant just turn out to any fire with out direction from VicFire. Upon arriving it would appear it had been deliberately lit, but luckily it didnt spread very far due to allot of moist pig face even with a blustery westerly wind. So if you notice an unattended out of control fire please ring 000 immediately! See more

06.01.2022 Heres an App everyone should have on their smart phone.. it tells you exactly where you are if you need to call 000 in an emergency. It will also help us get ...to you faster because well have accurate information. Follow the link below to download the app for your device. https://www.triplezero.gov.au/P/EmergencySmartphoneApp.aspx

06.01.2022 Very good advice, after we just also had a call to a burn off called in by a passer by. Please remember to call in your burn offs to try and avoid us turning up. As much as we all enjoy helping people in need, but please remember we are all volunteers in District 11 (East Gippsland).

04.01.2022 Grass fire we attended with Newry, its a reminder even with a little rain it can still run

03.01.2022 Come and see us in the morning for a few demos in the Amy Shand Park (behind the fire shed) The kids can even have a go on the hose as long as mum or dad are around. Hope to see you there!

02.01.2022 Did you know - where households dont have a working smoke alarm and a fire occurs, you are: 57% more likely to suffer property damage; 26% more likely to s...uffer serious injury; and Four times more likely to die. Only working Smoke Alarms save lives. The end of Daylight Savings this coming Sunday (2nd April), is a great opportunity to change your smoke alarm batteries the same time you change your clocks. I encourage you to chat to your friends and family over the weekend about the important messaging behind the "Change your clock, change your Smoke Alarm" campaign. For more information about residential fire safety and what you can do to protect your home, head over to: http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-/home-fire-safety-checklist/

02.01.2022 Together, we remember.

01.01.2022 Please note, you are required to carry at least 9 litres of water in a charged pressure vessel (extinguisher) or knapsack on your tractor if working it within Fire Restrictions.

01.01.2022 Tonight we responded to support Tinamba at a burnoff/bonfire in the Tinamba area. This is the second fire in the area today, on a day of TFB and is likely to b...e prosecuted as a result. A reminder that even though the weather has changed, the Total Fire Ban still applies as it is law and can be prosecuted with fines up to $37,000 and/or imprisonment for two years as a result. Not worth it for a campfire or bonfire. If our volunteers have to give their time to come to your fire on a TFB, police are also invited. Captain Dave.
