10.01.2022 And then there was Sunday.... The Camerata- Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra - brought a string Quintet to our village on Sunday...and then brought the house down! The feature event of the day was the hour long concert titled ‘A Song with Words’. which teamed Australian actor, Barbara Lowing with the Chamber Orchestra, in an original work that intertwined words and music to commemorate Linville’s rich history. While the music and poetry choices were not specific to Linville’s a...ctual history, the musical and poetic journey was fictional in facts, aiming to explore the emotional range and mood of the events and moments that create an imagined set of Linville stories and tales. Live orchestral music can be one of the most moving experiences a person can have and that was the feedback from those who attended the concert. ‘It brought me to tears’ one audience member told us. ‘I had goosebumps the whole time’ another said. The show was sold out and Linville was proud to be the location for Camerata’s first ever Brisbane Valley performance. As they say in the classics- BRAVO! A copy of the concert program will be up loaded on www.linvilleprogress.com.au

05.01.2022 What a terrific village Christmas Party last night. 60 Linvillites enjoyed each other’s company, steak burgers and a quiet drink. We drew some terrific raffle prizes including a side of rump and a brand new BBQ to cook it on...plus a packed Christmas basket compliments of Linville Progress Member Isobelle T. Winners of the inaugural Linville Lights Competition were announced with Gail and Jeff from the General Store taking out the big prize...so that’s a double win for them as they also snagged a major prize in the Somerset Christmas Lights Competition. And they keep going...as Gail told us ‘we put up more lights this weekend’. We had 9 entries in total...not bad for our little village. Thank you to residents of Linville district for your love and support during 2020. Merry Christmas to you all.

04.01.2022 What a weekend! The inaugural Linville Heritage Festival was in full flight on Saturday and Sunday with Linville businesses and community groups offering a wide range of activities. The highlight of Saturday was the opening of the Linville Community Garden by the Mayor of Somerset. Guests, locals and sponsors gathered to mark this special occasion as the sculptural entry to the Garden was ‘unveiled’ and the hardscape around the half acre block was revealed. The entry piece i...s magnificent. Etched in steel then rusted to look like traditional chunky timber, it is decorated with individual figures ‘gardening’ atop the structure. Local Artist Merton Chambers conceived the piece and created the original figures in sketch form and amazing blacksmith and artist Kim Duff created the entry beams and hand forged every single figure right down to the most minute detail.
