24.01.2022 Just ended a planning meeting with good coffee and mars bar slice.... the fringe benefits of being a Point Cook Lion :) For info, Point Cook/Alamanda Estate Community....we will be providing a free sausage sizzle on behalf of the Wyndham City Council this coming Saturday November 8 between 12:00-2:00 p.m. My understanding is the Council is seeking input from the Community with regards to the re-building of the Pirate Ship (or alternative suggestions). So important to have "your" say in what you want to see in your immediate environment.

21.01.2022 A pleasure to be asked by one of our Point Cook residents to drop a Lions Christmas cake off to her at home. Enjoy your cake Veronica and thank you for getting in touch. Happy to deliver to others in the area ......just call me on 0408 500 788. $16.00 for the larger cake and $12.00 for the smaller 1kg ones.

21.01.2022 Trusting everyone has enjoyed a safe, happy and healthy Easter with family and friends. Love our community who AGAIN hit the streets together with the CFA as part of their annual Ester appeal to raise much needed funds for the Children's hospital. People, there is nothing we cant accomplish when we dream and work together. We Point Cook Lions thank our Community who are so ready to involve us in projects and keep us abreast of important local issues. Posting a snap of our current President Tony Weldon together with his wife Janice. Great workers for their community. Grateful to be part of their team. Oh yes, I am also, posting some pictures of Dahlias i picked today.... for no other reason than to show off!

20.01.2022 Love living in this community. Even amid lost dogs, found dogs, break ins, breakouts....I never cease to be inspired the way people quickly rally together to support one another. You are all Lions....you just don't know it yet. Call me....come join us.

20.01.2022 Happy New Year on behalf of the Lions Club of Point Cook. We have finished the ham, thrown out the remainder of the fish, emptied the shortbread tin.... and if anyone mentions bon bons before November I will scream! Our next Sausage Sizzle is scheduled for this Saturday 10/1 at Masters Williams Landing. We always welcome the opportunity to interact with our community so please come down, introduce yourself and lets chat about what "you" see are community needs within the scope of Lions ability to serve. Also, I have a number of Lions Christmas cakes still for sale (a winner all year round). Fear not, the "use by" date is over twelve months.

17.01.2022 A reminder to all that you dont want to miss the annual Christmas at the Lakes event this Saturday at Breezewater Reserve, Sanctuary Lakes. Your Point Cook Lions will be sizzling from 2:00 pm. There will be rides, food vans and stalls, animal farm, face painting, school performances and bands ..... not to mention an amazing fireworks finale. This alcohol and pet free family celebration has gone from strength to strength and is a credit to the organisers and their tireless ongoing efforts in bringing this fabulous community together. Last year an estimated 8,000+ attended. Lets show our support.

16.01.2022 Special thanks to Nigel Hawes who threw himself behind us as a "Friend of Lions" in assisting with our Wyndham Council sponsored Sausage Sizzle in Alamanda on 8 November

14.01.2022 Selling cakes at Masters at Williams Landing tomorrow and every weekend up until Christmas.

13.01.2022 Thank you District Governor Phillip Johnson for visiting us this month and your words of encouragement to existing and potential members. There is something very comforting about being able to meet around a table, share a meal and engage with others who share your values and desire to serve their community.

13.01.2022 A very successful weekend in Lionism. Heartfelt thanks to the team at the Wyndham City Council for sending opportunities our way. I know its cheesy but I love seeing people pulling together to achieve shared goals and objectives. Which reminds me, those marvellous people working as part of the Point Cook Action Group are absolute Lions. Sincere thanks to those Lions who were able to show up and show off in support of our commitments over the weekend. Brian is a dab hand with a mandolin...I have never seen 30 kgs of onions get sliced so quickly. To Heather, Noel, Tony, Janice, Les, Maria, Mark, Kelly, Brian and Colin.. your time and labour is greatly appreciated. Its not easy working in hot and windy conditions but we all know that co-operating and pulling together lightens the load for everybody. Proud to be part of a caring team.

10.01.2022 What a privilege to join with the Point Cook community in the "Raise it to the Max" fundraiser in support of the critically ill little Max Pini and his remarkable family. I believe the too often cry of "nobody cares" mantra was quashed today". We, in Point Cook stood side by side today attesting that we overwhelmingly care and are ready to step into the gap when needed. Super proud of all my neighbours. I live in a community of LIONS and today they roared!

10.01.2022 The Lions Club of Point Cook Inc. is proudly supported by Storage King Brooklyn Ph.0393154040 http://www.storageking.com.au/brooklyn/ .

09.01.2022 Sizzling our socks off at Masters Williams Landing tomorrow (Saturday 7 March). Can say with all confidence that we serve up the best sausages in town. Thankful to the grandson who cheerfully donned the big goggles to assist with chopping the onions tonight. No. I will not buy the pre chopped onions in a packet. That extra $50.00 is best to stay in our pockets. Keep chopping those onions Nathan.

09.01.2022 Thanks for a great day fellow Lions, including those from other clubs who came on Board to help. Big thanks too to my grandchildren who worked for hours without a hint of complaint.

07.01.2022 We look forward to receiving our District Governor and his wife this week at our monthly dinner meeting. Delighted too that we will have visitors on the night who wish to potentially join us. Loving this community.

06.01.2022 Nobody does it better.......

05.01.2022 We will be selling Lions Christmas Cakes this Friday evening as part of the Point Cook Town Centre Christmas Launch. See you there! Surely there is someone in Point Cook willing to bring me a coffee for a natter.

04.01.2022 I feel a Sausage Sizzle at Masters is suddenly upon us. This Sunday! Needing some of the "Pride" to put their hands up please. There is something exhilarating about chopping 30 kgs of onions....outside...at night...wearing a ski mask. Undoubtedly, the neighbours think we are bonkers... LOL

03.01.2022 The Point Cook Lions are scheduled to have their monthly "dinner" meeting this coming Wednesday 26 November at the Jamieson Way Community Centre. So, if you would like join us for some chicken and salad and have a chat about what is involved in becoming a Point Cook Lion....give me a call (0408 500 788).... and I will set another plate.

02.01.2022 Proudly supported by Storage King Brooklyn. http://www.storageking.com.au/brooklyn/

02.01.2022 Was in my own space today in the garden....thinking.... lets be mindful that many people simply do not know how to ask for help. It comes to them accompanied with feelings of failure, despair, anxiety fear and shame. Everybody is on a journey...some cope better than others...some say they are coping (and they are not), some, well some will never cope...and that's ok too. Encourage, inspire, listen, don't judge.....forgive always and rejoice every day that you could be the... one that convinces another person that they are of value, they have a voice, they have a tomorrow and they are blessed with a strong, supportive community who are ready to step into the gap at any time....yep, for the difficult ones, the high maintenance ones.......even the ones that drive us nuts allowing their dogs to poop all over our lawns and then just walk away. I refuse to let their toxic behaviour rent space in my head. I will, I will, I will forgive them.....I will also do what my husband did in Canberra and package it all up (still steaming) and go to their doors and return it. You know what I am saying guys? We folks, stand tallest when stoop to serve others. Lets make this the year of peace making.....lets not all jump on FB and criticize cats, dogs, drivers, bikes, peoples ethnicity . We will never fully know what goes on behind closed doors. In the mean time, if you need help with anything, companionship, someone to listen. Do the bravest thing you may ever do....reach out to someone. You will not be left wondering. Please be mindful too that the Lions in Point Cook will planning to schedule a special night to host a representative from Beyond Blue (an organisation now working closely with Lions), We will have regular speakers in 2015. Sessions will be held at the Jamieson Way Community Centre. Incidentally, your ideas in relation to speakers of interest are encouraged so please contact me with suggestions you know subject which would be of interest/help to our community. So, that is my input for the evening. Christmas, is behind us now and I am very much looking forward to launching into a new year. See more
