24.01.2022 if you have stamps you'd like to donate to a very worthy cause, let me know, and I'll organise for a local Lion to collect them for you. :)

24.01.2022 This September, Lions clubs are raising awareness of childhood cancer. Since its inception in 2009, Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCR...F), with the help of people just like you, has raised over $10 million dollars for childhood cancer research and has supported countless Australian organisations leading the fight against childhood cancer. Of particular significance has been the partnership with Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where ALCCRF and Lions Clubs International helped to fund the genome sequencing of 400 children with high risk cancer, allowing for more tailored treatment plans to be developed and giving kids with cancer a better chance at recovery and the childhood they deserve. https://alccrf.lions.org.au/lions-kids-cancer-genome-proje/

24.01.2022 Orders can be placed on this post or by PM to myself or Lions Club of Warner, Qld. We look forward to hearing from you. :) Dont panic if you havent heard from me yet, were just sewing as fast as we can and will give pick up times for each order as we have stock prepared. Thanks so much for your patience. The response has been amazing <3

23.01.2022 What does a Warner Lion do with a couple of early morning "bonus" hours (aka waking up at 3am)? She fires up the sewing machine and makes pouches for orphaned kangaroos and wallabies to donate to Wild Life care services. Nine finished and many more in the works. If youd like to help, you can donate at this website https://www.globalgiving.org/donate/13764/sydney-wildlife/

23.01.2022 100% of your cash donation to Lions will reach bushfire affected communities! Here's a message worth sharing within your communities. During disasters, many Aus...tralians enjoy donating goods as they feel more confident that their donation will benefit a needy person rather than being consumed in 'on-costs'. The problem is that goods need to be transported, warehoused and managed, diverting important resources from the relief effort. Donated goods also negatively impact on local businesses that could otherwise supply those same goods - and they are struggling as well. Cash is generally best and, of course, the community can be confident that any donation of cash to Lions will be well-managed and 100% of it will reach affected communities. If you would like to donate the Australian Lions Foundation follow this link. https://www.givenow.com.au/australianlionsfoundation

20.01.2022 Life has changed for all of us due to COVID-19 restrictions. Some people have enjoyed these changes, others have found it challenging and many of us will have e...xperienced a mixture of these things. Many are starting to think about how life will change when restrictions ease. While some people are looking forward to this, it doesnt mean the next few weeks or months will be smooth sailing for everyone. Struggling with the return to pre-COVID-19 life? Give the gift of sight this Christmas. Collection base is at 59 Calala Dr, Strathpine :)

18.01.2022 Big shout out to Marty, Robyn and Steve who are at Aussie seafood House today rattling donation buckets for childhood cancer research and selling icy cold water. And even more importantly, playing a major role in managing the seafood buyers' social distancing. If you're there for prawns and Christmas goodies, say "Hi" to the crew in the orange High Vis vests. Take some change for an icy cold bottle of water to aid Childhood Cancer Research in Australia.

18.01.2022 Mask orders are well under way to be filled. We have been blown away by the response from you all. Our orders now total more than 1200 items. We are running about a dozen plain colours and about 45 prints. If you have placed an order and havent had a thumbs up from me... please do send me a pm. If youve had a thumbs up, Im still working out when we can invite you to pick up your order. Two more amazing sewers have joined our ranks and some wonderful people have dropped o...ff fabric to add to our selection. This project has really become a true community participation event. We had a little elastic scare last night when we became aware of an elastic shortage in Australia at this time..... fingers crossed I have it sorted now, but the ship its on may take a little while and have us twiddling our thumbs for a week or two until the end of August. In the meantime, were on the hunt for 6mm or even 3mm flat braided elastic if you see any in your travels. I want to thank each & everyone for your patience, were a small team sharing the workload as well as our day jobs. Weve so far had five pick up time slots and weve had such lovely feedback from everyone. I also want to shout out to Ken Stumer at Stumers Sewing Centre at Strathpine who looked after us very well with beautiful prints and plains in quality fabrics. Thats about it for now, back to the sewing room I go. See you soon :)

15.01.2022 Every little bit helps. Every dollar donated to Australian Lions Foundation proudly goes directly to those in need and donations are tax deductable too! To make a donation visit www.alf.lions.org.au and select the GiveNow link. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. (Lions Clubs can make direct donations to our Foundation in the usual way.)

15.01.2022 To everyone who has dropped school supplies to the club this fortnight, Thank you! Your donations have been handed to a local organisation who helps families at risk. Your gifts will help several children start school in just over a week with items which they might have otherwise gone without.

15.01.2022 While I take a few mins break from the masking, I thought I'd tell you a little more about our club. We have this month celebrated the 1st anniversary of our charter as a club. We're not just about cakes and sausage sizzles! We recycle used eye glasses, mobile phones and postage stamps. As well, we seek out and choose projects which will help us serve both our local community and our global neighbours as well. The current mask project will see more than 2000 masks be made and... distributed and proceeds will benefit both the Lions Medical Research Foundation and Childhood Cancer Research. Later this year we will hold our second Annual Christmas Appeal, when we will seek donations of pantry staples and non perishable foods to help out those struggling within our community. A BBQ trailer is in our near future and we'll be available to help provide food and drinks at both private and community events. We are a fun and friendly group with common goals. We meet on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday each month at Café Uno at the Strathpine Centre. If you'd be interested in coming along and finding out more about us, drop us a message and Leanne will get back and organise for you to attend.

15.01.2022 What an awesome example of how recycling can help change lives! Our Club voted last night to use our recycling super powers to assist The team at Metro North Hospital and Health Service reach their goals. How can you help? By donating your old phones. Well collect them and deliver them to Metro North for processing before being passed on to someone in need. If you have a phone or phones youd like to give to help someone else, please contact me on this post. Cheers... April... Warner Lions Recycling officer See more
