22.01.2022 We welcome into training Elle, she is a 2 yr old Miniature Pinscher. Elle was sourced from Animal Welfare League SA and her journey to be a Hearing Assistance Dog is being supported by SA Power Networks Employee Foundation

22.01.2022 #FosterFriday We're coming up to #WorldDiabetesDay next Saturday 14th November, so we thought we'd share this cute picture of "Cody", one of our pups in the puppy program who is also undertaking initial training for the Diabetic Alert Dog program. As Diabetes Awareness is one of the core Lions pillars, next Saturday will also mark the Lions Lap the Map for Diabetes to promote a healthy lifestyle and awareness for Diabetes.... Our Diabetic Alert Dog program is currently in early stages of development, with hopes our first dog will be placed in the next 2 years. If you are interested in fostering a puppy like "Cody", please contact our Puppy Program Coordinator, Mary, at [email protected].

22.01.2022 Due to the SA Government announcement today, the Lions Hearing Dog National Headquarters will be closed for the next 6 days. Dogs in training will still be cared for onsite by staff and the emergency phone will still be a point of contact. We will keep you updated as we are aware of any further changes.

21.01.2022 Today ALHD Bill is being placed with his deaf or hard of hearing recipient. Bill is named after past CEO and National Chairperson PCC Bill Holmes OAM (pictured with Bill) in recognition of his many years of service and commitment to the ALHD Program. Even though Bill is retired, we still keep in close contact and keep him updated with all the new developments at the National Headquarters.

18.01.2022 Today we recognised the significant contribution by PDG Peter Sparnon to the ALHD program with a presentation of a Bill Holmes Award. PDG Peter served as National Chair for two terms from 2004-2010 and held Board positions before and after. We thank all of the Lions, volunteers and supporters who have contributed to our program throughout the last 40 years.... The award was presented by CEO David and past recipient Belinda.

10.01.2022 Congratulations to ALHD Spud and his recipient for passing their public access and sound test today and becoming an officially accredited team. Spud was sponsored through the puppy program by the Cubs of The Lions Club of City of Adelaide Inc. His foster family are also part of Lions and we appreciate their hard work to raise Spud and give him good life experiences.... He was supported in the home by the Lions Club of Australian Hearing Dogs. This was a great opportunity for many members of staff to experience the other side of dog placements by supporting a recipient during the follow up period. We are so proud of how far the team has come and look forward to continuing the support of Spud well into the future.
