22.01.2022 Saturday the 15th of February the Macleay Island Club presented a Medi Alarm Device to Mr. Murray Brooker and his wife Mrs. Brenda Brooker. Due to a few days before Christmas (2019) Mrs. Brooker had a fall unfortunately no one was at home which led Brenda to lay on the floor of her own home for 4+ Hours. In fear of that happening again Mr. Brooker came to the Lion's in hopes to gain some assistance in purchasing a device that alerted Mr. Brooker if something was to happen to ...Mrs. Brooker. The Lion's took a keen interest and agreeed to help Mr. Brooker and his wife Mrs. Brenda Brooker in hopes that this deice could help the community later. President Linda Crook personally presented the Medi Alarm to the Brookers with the help of Miss Meg (Lion's Member) and new member Terry at the twlight market. With the backing of Lions club the device was happily handed over to the very pleased husband and wife team.

Please see below message from Linda (President, Macleay Island Lions Club Inc): In compliance with the new Government and Health directives, and for Lions Members and Volunteers, ALL activities (such as meat tray Raffles, Garage Sales, Community Markets) will cease from 23/03/2020. ... This decision will be revisited before next month. We will keep all Lions notified of any future developments via email. The Breakfast Club will continue operating until the school closes for school holidays. I ask that all those working at the school, to keep the 1.5 meter distance as much as possible and continue to observe all other protocols for hygiene that we have been advised to adhere to. 21.01.2022 Because of Covid19 restrictions we thought we may have had to cancel our Annual Lions Christmas Parade. But thanks to the Government opening the State back to normal (what is normal now) and the assistance of the Events Team at Redland Council, the Parade is back "ON". We will leave the Primary School at 9am on Saturday 5th December and travel along High Central Road to the Community Market Centre. If you would like to be in the Parade get your float or vehicle ready and be at the school by 8.30am or enjoy the day or come along and cheer us along. Contact details on flyer attached.

11.01.2022 Macleay Lions are collecting cans and bottles to raise money here on Macleay Island. Part proceeds go to our local school for various projects when needed. These donations also help us run the school breakfast club 5 days a week. All details below. We can arrange pickup and our Account number with Containers for Change is included on poster delivered to all letterboxes on Macleay during the last few days.

07.01.2022 The Lions Club would like to extend a huge thank you to those who donate to our Breakfast Club tin that lives inside the 5-Star supermarket. Honestly we can not say thank you enough. The donations help in such a big way that we just had to thank you!!!!

We are full to the brim with lots of furniture and bricabrac. This Saturday 8th February from 7am to 12 noon. Cold drinks and sausage sizzle will be available as well.
06.01.2022 Unfortunately, due to the dreaded Covid and council restrictions, the annual Lions Christmas Parade from the school to the community centre has been cancelled. However, there will be Santa at the hall at the Community Market on December 5th, and an opportunity for photos to be taken with children. There will also be lollies for the children. Santa's letterbox will arrive at the Macleay Island State School on Friday so students can get their letters to Santa ready. The Parade will be back bigger than ever for Christmas 2021!!

05.01.2022 On the 24/08/2020 Kim Richards [Member for Redlands] kindly donated us a brand new computer. This was brought on because ours was slowly dying [dramatically slow]. This is a huge THANK YOU!! From the Macleay Islands Lion's Club to Kim Richards Member for Redlands for replacing our machine and making our Secretary's life easier. THANK YOU!!
