25.01.2022 This is our official Christmas card shot for 2015. Just a bit of fun!!

25.01.2022 CASHING OUT ON YOUR ANNUAL LEAVE!! DID YOU KNOW.... Around two million Australian workers can now cash out some of their excess annual leave under new rules that came into effect this week. Under the new clauses, inserted by the Fair Work Commission into 112 modern awards earlier this year, employees can cash out two weeks’ worth of accrued annual leave every 12 months, provided they still have four weeks remaining afterwards.... The employee and the employer must agree to the payout in writing, and the amount must not be less than would have been payable had the leave been taken at the time the payment is made.

21.01.2022 THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAUMA, INCOME PROTECTION & LIFE INSURANCES - very important, read this actual case! I have had Trauma, Income Protection and Life insurance since 2000. I took out the insurance when I was 33 years old, fit and healthy with no medical problems or conditions. In December 2016 I was diagnosed with stage two prostate cancer and because of my age (49) and the aggressive nature of the cancer, I had to have my prostate removed.... Trauma insurance is for traumatic events such as cancer, heart attacks strokes etc. and as my diagnosis met the definition, I was able to claim against my policy and the insurer paid the claim. Not only did the payment go to cover the cost of the operation which is close to $20,000 out of pocket, even though I have top level health insurance - it gave me peace of mind to assist with my recovery and any other expenses that I may incur. A lot of people my age and younger think nothing will happen to them but that is the time to take out insurance - when you are fit and healthy and there are no restrictions or loadings applied. My insurance broker was MBS - a specialised insurance broker - our preferred broker. They were fantastic throughout the whole claim process and were able to deal with the correct people within the insurance company when the claim was made making the process very easy for me. I make this point as there are a number of on line insurance companies and I am sure I would not have received the service and speed of claim if my policy had been with them. When a traumatic event occurs the last thing you want to deal with is an insurance company on your own. I would recommend definitely reviewing your insurance cover especially with families having children later in life. People tend not to have Trauma insurance as it is a type of insurance policy that has to be held outside superannuation. If you have any questions fell free to call me.

19.01.2022 If Ned Stark had survived that momentous episode, he would be less worried about Winter coming and more concerned about SuperStream coming! Don’t know what SuperStream is? Ignorance is not an excuse as far as the ATO are concerned http://listermason.com.au/bu/superstream-ato-super-changes/

18.01.2022 GET PASSIONATE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS! Curiosity is good but be curious in the area of your expertise. Being curious means your business will be dynamic. Always look to explore new opportunities. Don’t start a business in an area you know nothing about. Stick to what you know.... You have to be passionate about your business and believe in what you are doing. Be able to show your passion to your customers. Most importantly your staff need to share your passion. A Business Plan is prudent so that you maintain your passion and be dynamic. It is important to let your staff know your vision because this needs to be evident in all aspects of your business. We at Lister Mason are passionate about our business, and can help you experience passion in your own business. Just remember that to ‘make a plan to make a plan’, is not a plan, so contact us to make your plan a reality.

13.01.2022 Long Service Leave..... how did it come to be? Long service leave was introduced in Australia in the 1860's. The idea was to allow civil servants the opportunity to sail home to England after 10 years' in 'the colonies'. It was 13 weeks for every 10 years of service, composed of 5 weeks to sail back to England, 3 weeks of leave and 5 weeks to sail back.
