24.01.2022 ! With the weather warming up, just like us, Abbi is starting to feel the heat. Here are her favourite ways to stay cool around Mission Beach. ... Walking around with your very own fur blanket has its plusses in winter, but during summer it’s hotter than a jalapeno pepper. So, every year my hoomans take me to the groomers for my own version of a short back and sides. While it took me a while to get over the fluffy tail thing, (you got to do what you got to do right?), afterwards I am cool as a cucumber . Added bonus, the pesky vacuum doesn’t have to make an appearance as much. My daily walk keeps the ants from my pants, but the sun can sizzle my black coat. So the hoomans take me for a walk early in the morning. My favourite spot is the Kennedy Track. A doggy dip in the sea is definitely for me! Loves Wongaling Beach cause I can do a little bit of wave chasing on the side. Plenty of room for sticks, balls and frisbees if that is your thing. Find a shady spot, with a great sea breeze and curl up for a dog nap. Litoria has a great breezeway that captures the cool sea air and plenty of shade and covered areas. While we can’t bring back the Tasmanian Tiger, or the other birds, bats or bandicoots that are now officially extinct, we can use today, to reflect on their stories. ... Today we celebrate our native plants and animals and all those organisations and people who give their time to protecting them. In Mission Beach, we have many dedicated volunteers, working in wildlife rescue, at the Frog Hospital and for groups like C4 (Community for Coastal and Cassowary Conservation).
