13.01.2022 If havent heard of the Twinnies Pelican and Seabird Rescue, please take the time to check out their fb page to learn about the important work they do in helping our local pelicans and other bird! Just today they posted about a local pelican which had died due to a blow to the head. This injury they said was most certainly caused by someone. Please share this story and keep you eye out for anyone who is causing harm to our wildlife. All wildlife is protected and it is a criminal offence to kill or cause harm.

07.01.2022 Plant blindness ... This article describes exactly what I have been talking about for some years now! Please take the time with your children to recognise the thousands of plant species through names, touch, colour, shape, smell and taste. You dont have to be a botanist to teach your children about plants. Just knowing a few of the common native plants is a good start, pointing them out to your child whenever you come in contact. I often like to use plants as a referenc...e point to show wildlife that are up in the branches. If you would like to extend your native plant knowledge a great place to go is your local native nursery. All the plants are labelled and you will proably see may species that you go "I recognise that plant" ! You can also purchase most of the native plants for a mere $2.50. Mooloolah, Coolum and Poomona native nurserys are all great places to start. Maybe even start a native plant garden at home! (Thanks natureweavers for sharing this article )
