25.01.2022 As part of our transition to school curriculum, we have introduced "Crunch & Sip" which is a nutrition program implemented in NSW primary schools. The children sit down together at a designated time each day to eat some vegetables or a piece of fruit with water. During Crunch & Sip, educators have a short discussion with the children about healthy eating practices and increase their awareness of the importance of eating vegetables and fruit and drinking water. It also ensures that children are refueling their body with the appropriate nutrition.

25.01.2022 Celebrating LOVE for our families. To celebrate Valentines Day, the children at Little Bees created valentines day cards for their families to show them how much they are loved. The children also participated in a range of learning experiences reflecting the theme of LOVE. We hope everyone showed their family and friends how much they mean to them.

23.01.2022 Little Bees celebrated Pancake Day on Tuesday which represents 'Shrove Tuesday' as it is the day before Ash Wednesday. The children decorated their pancakes using a variety of fruits and whipped cream. The children enjoyed decorating their individual pancake for afternoon tea. Allowing children to create their own snacks provides opportunity for resilience and self independent skills. This can also foster and strengthen their ability to wanting to try new foods or ingredients they generally have not yet tasted or desire to eat. As children are offered the opportunity to create and assemble their own snacks, they are able to show an awareness for their sense of achievement.

17.01.2022 As part of our community involvement program we have built a relationship with Grill’d. Grill’d has donated free burger vouchers to use for our excursions. The children had so much fun attending Grill’d and choosing from the burger of their choice. They also participated in donating a special token and choosing from 3 charities to donate to. We are looking forward to our next excursion to Grill’d

13.01.2022 Healthy Puppet Show To promote healthy eating habits for toddlers, the educators implemented a hands on experience of creating a puppet show that reflects the concept of healthy eating habits as part of the curriculum. The educator explained to the children that the crocodile puppet felt happy and energised after eating healthy food as his tummy and body were feeling great from eating nutritious foods. The educator encouraged the children to feed the puppet using the home cor...ner foods The educator also explained that the pig puppet felt sad and that it's tummy hurt because the pig ate food that was unhealthy or classified as "sometimes food". The educator asked the children "How can we make the pig feel better?" followed through with an explanation that if the pig eats some healthy fruits, it's tummy will feel better. Using puppets and 3D objects allows the children to gain a better understanding of the concept of healthy eating as well as become more engaging in their learning experiences.

01.01.2022 Our first excursion to the Cinemas As the children in the Preschool room have continuously shown a high interest in Frozen, we decided to plan our very first excursion to Parramatta Event Cinema to watch Frozen 2. All 26 children were invited to watch the movie and they were all very excited as for some children, it was their very first time at the cinema. The children enjoyed some orange juice and eating popcorn with their peers. It was a great excursion to end the year as m...ost of the preschoolers are leaving Little Bees to attend kindergarten in 2020. We will miss all of the children leaving to attend kindergarten!
