25.01.2022 Building on National Simultaneous Storytime earlier this week, here are some photos from some reading going on in our nursery rooms! Reading corners develop language skills, concentration, attention spans, imagination, emotional development and self-regulation. And are an excellent for the social development of building bonds between children and educators. Happy reading!

24.01.2022 National Pyjama Day was a comfy success! For more information and awareness about the Day, visit https://thepyjamafoundation.com/

23.01.2022 This is one of our favourite playthings - a felt garden with pumpkins, lettuce, cauliflower, spinach and more. The felt vegetables "grow" up through the mat! We don't know how the dinosaurs got there.

21.01.2022 Do you remember when we had a sick tree and some of our little learners dressed up as tree doctors? Well now the grown-up tree doctor has trimmed the tree back and it's sprouting again! What a spring time story!

19.01.2022 Some of our Kindergarten children noticed that one of the trees in the playground was not looking well. After having a talk with their Educator about what might be happening, they decided to have a closer look at the tree and see if they could figure out what was wrong. Harrison said it needed a lot of water, Luka said it was still green, Airlie decided that she would check if it had a Heartbeat. Our Tree Doctor, has let us know that the tree is still alive, he will come and give it some special medicine and hopefully our tree will look better soon!

18.01.2022 Our thoughts are with everyone in our community impacted by the coronavirus. We continue to provide care and education each day and hope that in some way that is helping our families manage the demands, stresses and challenges of this new world. We have introduced some significant changes in response to the risks and we thank our families, our children and our wonderful team for their help in making this work. We'll post some more information here and enrolled families will continue to see the private feed of direct updates and information through Educa. If you have any questions or want to discuss at any time, please contact us.

17.01.2022 Today we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime! Ask your little ones what Whitney and Britney the chickens got up to and maybe relive it with this reading from the National Library of Australia! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joFKKAy3e9Q

17.01.2022 We have amazing toys and educational resources at Little Birds. We really do! But why is the best thing always a cardboard box?!

17.01.2022 If you've come past lately, you may have seen our beautiful rainbow signs out the front! These pieces of art have been lovingly prepared by our children as a way of connecting with the community and making others feel good. They are our contribution to the "Rainbow Trail", a movement aiming to spread joy!

14.01.2022 One of the pillars of our Statement of Philosophy is the concept of "Supportive". Here's what that means for us:

10.01.2022 It might seem like a distant memory, but yesterday it was sunny enough for us to finish installing solar panels on the roof of Little Birds Early Learning Centre! With more than 100 panels installed, we've really lightened our environmental footprint and complemented the focus on the natural world which you can see at work in our playscape and educational program. Now we just need the sun to come out...

10.01.2022 Story time in one of our story telling circles.

09.01.2022 Our Statement of Philosophy underpins all of our practices. As you can see, our Philosophy is composed of several elements. You can find more detail on these individual elements and what they mean to us printed in our Parent Handbook and posted in our foyer.

08.01.2022 Our identity tree is growing! Supporting children as they develop a sense of identity is a key element of the Belonging, Being and Becoming Early Years Learning Framework and an area of focus for us here at Little Birds. The self-portraits the children have drawn are fun and artistic but also gently explore their own sense of self.

07.01.2022 We could all use a helping hand when fish puzzling.

07.01.2022 Before the rain came, the children got to pick some of the snow peas they planted in March!
