24.01.2022 This is the happy, well rested little face of 9 month old Chloe! Isn't she gorgeous?! I had the privilege of working with Chloe and her parents several months ago, when she was just 5.5 months old. We worked together for about 4 weeks, and Chloe learnt some healthy habits and valuable skills which have set her up for a lifetime of good sleep! She is able to self settle, sleeps well during the day, has a great diet which supports her sleep and most importantly, she slee...ps right through the night on a consistent basis! Chloe is just proof that good sleep can and will continue on long after we have finished working together. You can have this too if you want it! If you are consistent with your approach to your child's sleep, if you respect their need for sleep and make it a priority, there's no way you can go wrong. You will reap the benefits for a long time to come. There will be times of regression with developmental changes, there will be sickness , but the impact of these will be felt much less for a baby who is a consistently good sleeper. If you want a baby like Chloe, get in touch today and see how I can help you! #babysleepconsultant #toddlersleepconsultant #perthsleepconsultant #littlecherubssleepsolutions #babysleep #toddlersleep #babies #toddlers #sleepthroughthenight #healthysleephabits #naps #sleepsuperstar #selfsettle #goodsleep
24.01.2022 Happy 5th birthday to my littlest boy Mason! Hope you have the best day gorgeous boy!
23.01.2022 The weather is cooling down now and I often get asked "how do I make sure my little one is warm enough overnight?" I think the ergoPouch visual guide below is fantastic for helping take the guess work out of this! Your little one should be comfortable wearing no more than one layer extra than an adult would wear in the same temperature.... Add to this a tog rated swaddle, sleeping bag or sleep suit according to the usual temperature in your little one's room and you will feel reassured they stay nice and warm all night! Additional heating can also be useful on really cold nights to warm the room up prior to sleep , or it can be set to come on via a timer at around 2.30/3am when a little one's body temperature will reach its lowest point overnight. If your little one wakes to feed overnight, try putting a hot water bottle or a hot pack/wheat bag in their bassinette/cot just while they're up so that it is toasty warm once they're ready to get back in. There's nothing worse than getting back into a cold bed! How do you keep your little one warm?
22.01.2022 Was really heartwarming to help this little cherub and his family achieve better sleep! I think this shows that it's never too late to work on creating healthy sleep habits for little ones
20.01.2022 A really great article which explains some of the science behind why I do what I do! Worth the read I think! If you read it, tell me what you think ...
20.01.2022 Nothing funnier than when you try and take some precious pics of your sleeping "big" babies and one wakes up with the flash from the camera! Oops! Sorry Mitch!
19.01.2022 Clever little man and mum and dad! Looking forward to helping big sis too!

17.01.2022 Just thought I'd share a proud mum moment with you all! Today my eldest son Mitchell, 10 years old, received his junior black belt in martial arts. Absolutely beyond proud, well done my boy! #proudmummoment #martialarts #blackbelt #hardworkpaysoff #superstar #myboy #reachyourgoals
17.01.2022 I think this is really helpful if you've got a fussy toddler or a child that regularly says "I don't like that, it's gross ! I'm not going to eat that." Especially when they've made their mind up without even trying it. I hear it a lot from my 4 year old so will definitely try some of these suggestions
17.01.2022 Are you using white noise? White noise is essentially background noise which helps to trigger the calming reflex in newborn and young babies and stops them from crying for long enough to become responsive to settling techniques. It is a positive sleep association! It is also very useful for older babies to drown out any household noise and can help buffer noise between siblings if they are room sharing! ... The most effective white noise is something which is deep and rumbly, and it needs to be quite loud to be effective. I recommend white noise for at least the first 12 months of a baby's life. When you are ready to wean from it all you do is gradually turn it down over the course of a few weeks. I like the Sound Sleeper White Noise App, the My Baby Soundspa On The Go, the Marpac Hushh and the AuCuTee S5. An inexpensive option is using an old radio and playing the static found in between radio stations. What do you use? #babysleepconsultant #perthsleepconsultant #littlecherubssleepsolutions #toddlersleep #babysleeptraining #babysleep #babies #toddlers #sleep #whitenoise

15.01.2022 Meet my latest little sleep superstar Faye! Isn't she such a cutie? About 2 years ago I was privileged to work with Faye's older brother Lennon (who is still a great little sleeper!) and just last month it was Faye's turn! Mum and dad welcomed beautiful little Faye into their family about 5 months ago and they were keen to help Faye learn healthy sleep habits just like her big brother had! Faye's mum and dad learnt from experience how investing time teaching independ...ent sleep skills in the early days would pay off in the long run! I met Faye when she was still swaddled, sleeping in a bassinette and using a dummy to settle to sleep. After 2 weeks of working together she was sleeping in her cot and had transitioned out of her swaddle and into a sleeping bag as she was starting to roll. We also decided to remove her dummy completely to prevent those middle of the night dummy runs from continuing and she quickly learnt how to self settle without it! This clever little lady also showed her amazing ability to sleep well for all her naps and was waking up just 1-2 times overnight for a feed which is very age appropriate! It was a pleasure working with this family again! I just love my job and feel blessed that families like Faye's trust me to be the one to help them teach their children this important life skill #babysleepconsultant #perthsleepconsultant #littlecherubssleepsolutions #babysleep #toddlersleep #baby #successstory #family #sleepsuperstar #blessed #lifeskill

14.01.2022 Have you seen this product? ergoPouch have this wonderful block out film available to make your baby or child's room nice and dark and conducive to sleeping! It comes in black or white and is relatively easy to install! Just check out these photos kindly supplied by a recent client who used the white film to make her baby's room nice and dark. In the second photo you can easily see the light coming in through the shutters even when they're closed. The photos... that follow are taken with the bedroom lights on, but you can easily see the block out effect of the film. Having a dark room is essential for promoting good sleep as it helps the brain to produce the sleepy hormone melatonin and helps to stop any light coming into the room in the early hours of the morning and stimulating your child into waking up. A good rule of thumb to determine if your child's room is dark enough is if you can read a book in there, then it's not dark enough. There are lots of other ways to make your child's room nice and dark. What do you use? 12.01.2022 A really good read, especially if you're the parent of a newborn and you've been used to having order and predictability in your life If you're finding this stage hard I hope it helps to normalise your feelings and let you know that you're not alone. It might bring back memories for parents of older children too. Let me know what you think in the comments below https://www.google.com.au//as-a-type-a-mom-the-newbor/amp/

12.01.2022 A successful twin sleep story Meet the gorgeous Maxwell and Lincoln
12.01.2022 Friday Funny I hope everyone has had a good week! It's been a busy one for me, lots of new lovely families to help . Today I went to an in home consult for a lovely little 16 month old who nailed her lunch time nap and tomorrow I'm visiting some gorgeous twin sisters. I am very lucky to work with a lot of twins so had a laugh when I saw this! Happy Fri-yay everyone and cheers for a good weekend!
11.01.2022 I'm in your corner! I wrote this today to a mum who needed to hear this. It was day 1 in our sleep training journey, it had been a tough day (the first day is always the hardest as there are generally lots of changes happening). Plus the little cherub I am working with has a big brother who also needs mum's time and attention. Mum just needed to hear and know that she was supported and that her feelings were validated! "There are always positives in the toughest of days a...nd it's those that help to keep you going when sleep training! You have the right mindset and the desire for change and I know you can do this! You will meet your goals and I'm in your corner cheering you on!" So, think of me as your personal cheerleader, know you are not alone in this journey, and if you are open and ready for change, you will find the strength to make it happen! We will get there together, one day at a time #babysleepconsultant #perthsleepconsultant #littlecherubssleepsolutions #babysleep #toddlersleep #babies #sleep #youcandoit #personalcheerleader #onedayatatime
11.01.2022 HaPpY Father's Day to these two amazing Dads in my life And to all the awesome dads out there! Hope you all have a great day and your little cherubs spoil you!
10.01.2022 I this! For parents of newborns or parents to be, these are some important topics to consider together. Would you agree?
09.01.2022 You. Are. Enough I think some of the mums I am working with at the moment need to hear this. Parenthood is rewarding, fulfilling, exciting and joyous! It is an absolute privilege to be able to create life and to love, nurture, cherish and teach a little person as they grow from infancy into adulthood and beyond! It is as much a journey for the parents as it is for the child.... But it also brings with it many challenges. We constantly question our thoughts, our beliefs, is what I'm doing right? Am I a good role model? We compare ourselves to others. There are big expectations, not just from within but also from family and from society. Is what I'm doing good enough? Am I good enough? You are good enough. I think you're good enough and your little one also thinks you are good enough. You are doing your best so tell yourself that and believe it! To the world you are someone, but to your little one you are the world, you are their world . Remember that .
09.01.2022 No matter the reason for choosing to send our little cherubs to daycare, it's never easy! We worry if they'll be safe, if they'll eat and drink well and the million dollar question - will they sleep or will our routine go completely out the window??? When choosing your daycare centre, ask lots of questions such as; Will the room be darkened and will they play white noise? Will the educators stay in the room with your child or will they come in and out to do checks?... Do they have set nap times for certain age groups or will they happily follow your child's nap routine? How do they settle children to sleep and will they allow your child to self settle if they have the skills to do so? Do they resettle children if they wake early from their naps or will they just get them up straight away? Will they wake a sleeping child? This is especially important if you have a toddler who only needs a short nap to get through until bedtime. If they end up sleeping too long it affects their ability to settle to sleep at bedtime and bedtime gets pushed out way too late. I believe it's important for parents to have a discussion with daycare educators on how their little cherub usually settles to sleep, and what is normal for them, so that we aim to keep familiarity and consistency where possible. If your child is able to self settle, and the educators sit by their cot and pat them, then this is very unlikely to result in sleep! There's also nothing wrong with asking a daycare centre to follow your child's specific nap routine and most will do their best to follow your requests. Packing your child's familiar sleep items such as their sleeping bag and comfort toy each time they go to daycare will also be beneficial! Just be prepared that naps likely won't be perfect and it will take time for your little cherub to adjust to sleeping in a different environment and with other children in the same room. Have a clear plan of how you're going to manage the evening routine when you get home. Try to have something easy and on hand for dinner e.g a meal pre-prepared, or leftovers from last night so that your child can eat as soon as they get home. Aim for a nice early bedtime if naps have gone astray during the day. But most importantly, do try to make time to reconnect with your child in the evening and give them that one on one time that they will be craving from you before they go to bed! Try to give them your undivided attention and be sure to help them engage in a nice long wind down period before going into their cot or bed. Settling into daycare takes time, but your child will eventually adapt and they learn that sometimes expectations for sleep can be different at home versus when at daycare. If you have any other practical strategies for helping with the transition to daycare please share below
08.01.2022 Check out this little superstar! This is Flora, she is just over 2 years old and tonight is the first night of her journey to better sleep! I just know she's going to do amazing things! I approach sleep with toddlers in a totally different way to babies . Toddler sleep is never predictable like most baby sleep, so it does mean that an individualised approach and plan is paramount to success! One important aspect is teaching a toddler what your expectations for th...em are around sleep, and this can start with creating some simple bedtime rules and behaviours. It's important that your toddler is involved in choosing at least one of the rules so that he or she feels a sense of ownership over the process. It's also a fabulous idea to create a rewards poster, and allow your toddler to choose a special reward that they are working towards if they successfully follow the bedtime rules for a set number of nights. Rewarding your toddler helps to boost their confidence and self esteem and they want to try to always do their best to achieve their special reward! You can see by the pictures that Flora has had a great time with mum these last few days creating and decorating her rules and rewards posters and she has them proudly hanging in her room as a constant visual reminder. Flora is about to go to bed, so goodnight Flora, have a good sleep and can't wait to hear from mum tomorrow about how your first night goes! #babysleepconsultant #perthsleepconsultant #littlecherubssleepsolutions #babysleep #toddlersleep #babies #toddlers #bedtime #bedtimerules #rewardschart #cake #icecream #picnic #family #goodnight #sleepsuperstar
07.01.2022 Has this happened to you? When a baby learns a new skill, particularly a physical skill, such as rolling, crawling, standing or walking, sleep can often seem to deteriorate or regress. Let me reassure you that this is a very normal and common thing to happen, and having patience is key. Sleep can regress because all these new pathways are being formed in the brain, the brain is very active, and the baby can just find it hard to switch off. They want to spend all their time ...practicing their new skill, even when they should be sleeping! The best thing that you can do when you see your baby starting to develop a new skill is to spend lots of time in their awake periods practicing this new skill so they master it quickly. The added benefit from practice is the building of muscle memory. During sleep time, the most effective way to work through this regression is to stay consistent with your settling technique, and allow your baby the time and space to practice, especially if they are happy in their cot. If you try to stop them from practicing and control what they do, or rush in too quickly to "help," your baby will become used to this and it will further encourage the behaviour to continue. Try to allow your baby some time and space to try and work it out for themselves. If after a few minutes your baby is still upset and they really do need some assistance, go in and do so quickly, then come back out and give your baby the opportunity to try and settle off to sleep.
07.01.2022 This is the sweet smiling face of my newest little sleep superstar Stella . Stella is almost 4 months old. Isn't she the cutest?! This little lady was waking up every half hour to hour overnight and mum and dad were beyond exhausted and feeling totally depleted . Nobody was getting any sleep . Stella has responded so well to a new routine and a consistent settling strategy that suited her temperament, and last night on just night 2 of working together she managed to sl...eep through the night from 6.30pm-6am!!! How amazing is that? If everyone in your house is struggling with sleep, get in touch today and find out how I can help you! #babysleepconsultant #perthsleepconsultant #littlecherubssleepsolutions #babysleep #toddlersleep #babies #toddlers #sleepthroughthenight #sleepsuperstar
05.01.2022 QUICK TIP We know that sleeping bags help to keep our little cherubs warm and toasty all night! But what happens if your baby or toddler is actually Houdini and manages to escape their sleeping bag and they start waking because they're cold? You can try turning the sleeping bag inside out or back to front so that little fingers cannot find or reach the zip or press studs!... Or you can put a well fitted tshirt on over the top of the sleeping bag! And if all else fails, then it might mean that you have to add an extra layer of clothing to your child , trying to use natural fibres, or use some additional heating overnight as they will unlikely be able to manage blankets until they're around 3 years of age and in a big bed .
05.01.2022 A bit late but still a Friday Funny! Have a good night everyone!
05.01.2022 I need a baby fix tonight! Share your cute kiddie pics in the comments below, even if they're not so little anymore!

03.01.2022 If you live in the Eastern States of Australia, then you'll be aware that daylight savings will be starting very soon! You can't prepare for daylight savings in just one day, so I have prepared a handy guide to help you in the week leading up to the time change! Adjusting to daylight savings is a bit similar to adjusting to jet lag . We can't force our internal clock to match the real time we are changing to overnight, we have to prepare it and train it, especially for o...ur little ones who are used to a set routine. We can do this gradually by adjusting the time that our babies and toddlers eat, when they nap, when they go to bed and when they wake up. See the infographic below to guide you . Please note that this guide is based on a 7am-7pm routine. If your desired wake time to start the day or your bedtime is slightly different then you can just adjust accordingly. You can make these 15 minute changes in just 4 days if you wish. If you already have a baby who is waking at 6am in the morning then you don't need to do anything! Tag anyone who needs to know this below in the comments! If you have any questions, also feel free to pop them below
02.01.2022 This Friday's Funny! Seriously though, you are a good mum! (And sorry dads!)
02.01.2022 A bit of motivation for your Monday!
01.01.2022 HINTS AND TIPS What is a wind down routine? A wind down routine is a 5-10 minute routine conducted in the room where your child is going ... to sleep . It should be conducted before all naps when at home and before bedtime in the evening to help your child make that transition from active play to becoming calm and relaxed. It allows them time to wind down and prepare for the onset of sleep and when completed in a dim room gets their sleepy hormone production happening which is essential for helping them to fall asleep in a timely manner . So if you dim the lights in your child's room or use a lamp while doing the wind down this will be most beneficial. Your wind down routine could consist of turning on your white noise, popping on your child's sleeping bag or sleep suit, sitting together in a chair or on the floor and reading a short book , perhaps singing a song, having kisses and cuddles and then putting them down in their cot or bed to settle. It's great to get into the habit of doing a wind down routine with your child from a young age. It's never too early to start and you'll quickly notice the benefits of doing one! Have you noticed how difficult a nap or bedtime settle can be if you don't spend time helping your child to wind down, even if it's just for 5 minutes? Do you typically do a wind down routine before your child goes to bed? What do you do? Feel free to share below and let me know what works for you! #babysleepconsultant #perthsleepconsultant #littlecherubssleepsolutions #babysleep #toddlersleep #babies #toddlers #relax #winddown #sleeptime #healthysleephabits
