25.01.2022 Don't know how other mums are feeling but I am happy dancing all over the place today. I have been waiting for this day for six weeks and it is finally here! Back to school!!! I only have one son out of three actually in school but I'll take it. One mum I ran into this morning told me how the holidays have just flown by!!?? Umm, I'm pretty sure we weren't having the same holidays because mine dragged on and on and on. I have been struggling to find things to entertain ...all three boys every single day whilst remaining somewhat sane. That sanity was usually found during 'mums knock off drinks' after kids bedtime. During the holidays 'mums knock off drinks' featured almost every night. Albeit I only have one glass of wine my wine glasses are more bucket like so I get a lovely warm, relaxing buzz. And then it begins all over again. To really challenge ourselves my husband Dan and myself decided to take the kids on a two week road trip covering three states and a territory and approximately 3500 kilometres. Insanity, I know, but I am a romanticist and an optimist and tend to gloss over the absolute hell of a road trip with a 1, 3 and 5 year old with thoughts of all the people we'll get to see and the places we can visit along the way. (More of these fun escapades in my upcoming holiday blog entry). Dan, on the other hand, is the Yin to my Yang and tries to help me to see past my rose coloured glasses but I just tell him he's a pessimist and it'll be an adventure. He tends to have the last laugh when I let him and I was right it was an absolute adventure! But today I get to take a moment to have a little mummy breather and relax.....until I look at the clock and realise I've got to go do the school pick up. Breather over xx

24.01.2022 Attack of the Why-man!! Anyone else got one of these treasures in your family? Ours comes in the form of my three year old Jules. Didn't really see it coming because Paddy, my eldest, was never a 'Why-man' so I thought Jules would just keep in line with his big brother. For those of you who don't really know what I'm talking about let me explain. The 'Why-man' or 'Why-girl' is the kid/person that can't get through one sentence without asking 'why'. Not so bad you say? ... Well, try getting through a run of 13 'whys' after asking one seemingly simple yes or no question and then having this process REPEATED all friggin day long! It's starting to do my head in! Here's an example of my daily Jules convo's: Me: Jules do you want to come to the shops with me? Jules: Why? Me: To get some food. Jules: Why? Me: So we can eat it for dinner and other meals. Jules: Why? Me: So we don't get hungry. Jules: Why? Me: Because it wouldn't be much fun if we were hungry all the time. Jules: Why? Me: Because it would make us weak and we wouldn't be able to play. Jules: Why? Me: Because we need energy from food to keep us going? (trying to use my nursing knowledge to beat him) Jules: Why? Me: Ummm, well....it's Science. Most of the time the conversation ends in "it's Science" and a quick change of subject. Either that or I turn it around so I'm the one asking the 'why' questions and it's all over in a matter of seconds. And, whilst is does do my head in I try to look at it as a challenge and see how many 'whys' I can actually answer before Jules' leaves me stumped. So far I've made it up to 12 'whys'. Pretty proud of myself. Try it at home with your little why-man/why-girl and see if you can beat my score xx Truth be told I was a little 'Why-girl' back in the day and, for those who have read my other blogs, know that Jules is my 'comeuppance baby'....Karma's a bitch!

22.01.2022 Good start to date day!

13.01.2022 Arrrgh, just dropped my last little baby boy off at daycare! Barely slept last night in anticipation. On the other hand... Let date day begin xx

07.01.2022 It's International Midwife day today. I am so happy and privileged to be a midwife, assisting mum's during the most life changing moments they'll ever experience. Go high five a midwife today!!

04.01.2022 Nothing better than when all the kids naps times synchronise and you get an hour or two to just breathe without interruption. Long live nap time!!
