24.01.2022 P i k l e r F r a m e Our pikler set is definitely getting a work out this morning with the children building confidence as they explore our new pieces. The pikler set allows the children to develop their co ordination and use trial and error skills as the climb up and over, it allows the children to develop their gross motor skills and challenge themselves as they become confident in conquering these obstacles.

The most incredible little creations happening from our little people today, using items we picked from around our outdoor environment and from our loose parts collection- the children used their imaginations and created mini jungles which they then later on throughout the process added safari animals to their creations We used our gorgeous new bamboo scoops from Ataahua children to scoop up our seeds and gems to place them on our playdough creations as well as using them throughout our sensory play trays today See more

16.01.2022 N A I D O C W e e k . . Always was, always will be .... . This morning we started the day off by exploring what is NAIDOC week and what it symbolises. The children showed excitement and eagerness to learn and discover more about NAIDOC Week. . We created a discovery small world table using the beautiful musical instruments from Ataahua children . Our sensory play tray was a favourite as the children used our recycled scoops to mix, scoop and carry our sensory play tray resources around. Before the children explored the tray we discussed what the image was that Katie had created in our play tray and when explained to the children that it was the aboriginal flag, we discussed what colours we could see and what we thought it represented: . Black represents the Aboriginal people of Australia. Yellow circle represents the Sun, the giver of life and protector. Red represents the red earth . We then explored this further but utilising technology into our daily program and exploring a YouTube clip about NAIDOC week and how children around the world celebrate and recognise the important week. . . 16.01.2022 C Y R U S T H E V I R U S A perfect Little Story to read to your little ones about the new changes that is happening around the world and within your home to help them understand about COVID 19- We have been reading this book during group times this week and the children have been so very inquisitive towards the story asking many questions and explaining to each other that they do those things at their home

15.01.2022 W e n e e d y o u r s u p p o r t Yes I think it’s great that Australia has the opportunity to offer families free childcare- but for providers it comes with a huge Cost! Apparently the government thinks it’s Ok for Early Childhood providers to work exactly the same as usual but with a 50% pay decrease for myself being a FDC educator and many other FDC educators out there it actually will work out to be around the 60/65% pay cut with scheme fees etc, even with the j...ob keeper payment (that isn’t even out yet) Early childhood providers and educators will be at a loss of ALOT of money each month!!! Please share and sign to get it Changed See more

13.01.2022 H e l p i n g o u r l i t t l e o n e s u n d e r s t a n d Playschool have created a special episode for children and families that discusses the Coronavirus and health and well-being practices you can teach your children. 13.01.2022 A n z a c D a y - Coming together as a community and showing our respects Throughout this week we have been discussing Anzac Day and what it represents. We have spoken about our soldiers and how they fought for our country and how as a Nation we come together and remember them. The children of Little Hideaway created beautiful poppies and a remembrance wreath to show our support to our soldiers and our respects for Anzac Day. ... We contacted one of our neighbours from our community who is holding a dawn service at her house for her family to remember and celebrate. We told her about the beautiful crafts we had been creating and asked if we would be able to display our poppies and our wreath for the service and for our neighbourhood to see as they walk or drive past. We thought that this would be a wonderful way to create community involvement with in our service and outside in our community as we can’t come together and show our respects. Jou will be playing the last post, honouring our soldiers with a 1 minutes silence and playing the reveille. Community members are welcome to participate and show their respects but also keeping in mind and respecting the 1.5m iso distance laws that are in place due to COVID. For all our families, friends and followers our Anzac Day crafts are on display on the corner of Janus close and constitution drive right next to the round about in Cameron Park. During the week we have also read stories with each other and listened to interactive stories online being read by other Educators- our favourite being Anzac Ted. By listening to these stories as a group we were able to develop a better understanding of Anzac Day and why we celebrate it. The children were able to learn and reflect on; - The pride we have as a nation for our country. - The spirit of ANZAC through courage, mateship and sacrifice. - The freedom we have to feel safe because of our soldiers and their sacrifice. - We spoke about caring for one another and the world around us. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them."

12.01.2022 D o n t f o r g e t o u r l i t t l e p e o p l e Quite often we hear or say I’m not coping or I just need to get out of the house and back to work and normality, I get it. We’ve all said it- we all wish for normality. But- Don’t forget to think of our little people because like most of us, they are struggling with the changes as well, the difference is we know how to control our emotions and feelings, our little ones don’t. So when they are having that melt down ...for the tenth time step back and remember that this is there way of dealing with their frustration because they don’t know how to control their emotions and feelings just yet. Take a moment and tell your little one just how proud you are off them and during that melt down take the time to reassure them and calm them down by talking to them asking them why they are upset or frustrated. Because they sure are our little hero’s and there whole world and the normality they have always known has completely changed they deserve just as much recognition as well #ourlittleheros

11.01.2022 We’re going on a bear hunt We all know the popular and well loved story We’re going on a bear hunt - by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, I know at Little Hideaway it’s definitely one of our favourite to rein-act during group times and literacy groups. To all the families and kiddies around to make isolation a little more exciting place a little bear in your window so when families go for a walk or even for a drive just to get out of the house it gives them something to... look forward to. Post photos of around your community where you see little bears hiding and spread the love and brighten a little persons face just by doing this simple little act So I’m asking all my followers go and get that little bear out of the stuffed toy box and place it in your window because you will brighten many beautiful kids faces by doing so We’ve got our little bear hiding here at Little Hideaway and even though with the location of our home not many will see it but I do know that it will brighten the 12 families faces that come to Little Hideaway each week

03.01.2022 N u m e r a c y 123 Developing numeracy skills early gives children a foundation for their learning and development.
