23.01.2022 Our online program is live! My passion is helping parents feel prepared and in control (well sort of). The program gives you all the keys for baby sleep that I have learned as a sleep school nurse. Dont worry its not about sleep training a newborn its about allowing them to develop natural helpful sleep routines. Access via our website #sleepbaby #babysleep #babysleepoptimisation

22.01.2022 This is me today. Daggy old clothes researching teleprompters. Its definately not where I thought Id be when I started little petals but here I am. Working hard to get some great sleep advice for your babies #sleepbabysleep #babysleep #sleepbaby #letsgoonline

21.01.2022 Just pondering how many minutes I've been outside today. Its a balancing act trying to feed four apparantly always hungry children, run a business, throw in a cuple of work shifts, exercise, do the shopping and find some me time. In Melbourne we are currently only allowed out for a hour a day. It's a balance but we know it's for a good cause so balance we do. Stay safe everyone. #sleepbabysleep #sleepguide #motherhood... #postpartum #sleepdeprived #newmom #sleepbaby #babysleep #babysleepclinic #babysleepprogram #ineedsleep #whywontyousleep #sleepingbaby #babysleepclinicmelbourne #sleephelp #babysleephelp #soundasleepbaby #happybaby #pregnancy #prepareforbaby #pleasegotosleep #baby #twins #goodnight #pregnant #newborn #wellrestedbaby See more

20.01.2022 Teething is probably one of the most thought of reasons to explain a baby’s unhappy behaviour. On the whole teething causes most babies minimal discomfort. A bit of a rub and it’s ok. They will even do this themselves by chewing on things as it feels nice. Not to say there’s not some who struggle but the majority are ok. It’s been found there’s little correlation between when babies are teething and when parents think they are. I know I found this quite interesting.

20.01.2022 Not a great photo but recently found this one of when my big twins met the little twins. Oh my heart #twinning #babysleep #pregnancy #newborn

20.01.2022 Here we go on myth busting Monday. I see and hear this one a lot when babies wake frequently overnight. There is a thought that they must be getting too much sleep during the day and you need to decrease the amount of day sleep. I'm here to let you know this is not the case. In most cases babies who don't get enough sleep during the day end up overtired, overstimulated and overwhelmed. This in turn makes it hard for them to relax and switch off and have a great nights sleep.... If you need help deciding if youre baby needs more sleep please contact us for a free 15 minute chat. #sleepbabysleep #sleepguide #motherhood #postpartum #sleepdeprived #newmom #sleepbaby #babysleep #babysleepclinic #babysleepprogram #ineedsleep #whywontyousleep #sleepingbaby #babysleepclinicmelbourne #sleephelp #babysleephelp #soundasleepbaby #happybaby #pregnancy #prepareforbaby #pleasegotosleep #baby #twins #goodnight #pregnant #newborn #wellrestedbaby

19.01.2022 Theres so much talk about unsolicitated parenting advice that I thought I'd make it positive. What was one of the best pieces of parenting advice you received. Mine was always let your child finish the hug. One of my children has picked this up and tries to outlast me. We have some really long hugs but I've stuck to that rule #hugsfordays #sleepbabysleep #sleepguide... #motherhood #postpartum #sleepdeprived #newmom #sleepbaby #babysleep #babysleepclinic #babysleepprogram #ineedsleep #whywontyousleep #sleepingbaby #babysleepclinicmelbourne #sleephelp #babysleephelp #soundasleepbaby #happybaby #pregnancy #prepareforbaby #pleasegotosleep #baby #twins #goodnight #pregnant #newborn #wellrestedbaby See more

19.01.2022 Little Petals started as a side passion project. The passion is to now spread the word far and wide #sleepbaby #babysleep #sleepbabysleep

19.01.2022 You most definately are! I hope you always realise it #sleepbaby #babysleep

18.01.2022 Colic is simply a condition that means your baby cries for more than would be expected for a healthy baby. It may be because of reflux or their tummy is uncomfortable but colic itself is not a condition. You need to look for the underlying cause. A lot of the time is just because they feel like it and the world is a bit much and other times it’s because they’re overtired. I know I know I keep coming back to tiredness but believe me it’s the cause of more than most people realise.

17.01.2022 How lovely is a baby cuddle. But when theyre needing to go to sleep its more helpful to soothe them in the bassinet. A little shh, a gentle pat, a tummy rub or sing a song. These are also lovely way to soothe. These then dont involve the disturbance of getting them out of your arms into bassinet where it all starts again. Saying that there are sometimes when only a cuddle will do

17.01.2022 Todays blog is on sleep regressions. I set out to do some research on sleep regressions but didnt get too far . Link in bio #sleepregression #sleepregressions

16.01.2022 Lots of parents ask me if they have done something wrong in regards to sleep. The answer is always no. You have done your best with the knowledge you had and no one can expect anymore of themselves.

16.01.2022 Dont be overly afraid of baby sleep aids even if theyve been identified as a problem. If your baby is overly reliant on their dummy for sleep and its causing problems this doesnt mean you cant ever use it. It just wont be the first tool you reach for in your soothing tool box. #babydummy

14.01.2022 A baby is not a robot, you can’t make them fit a schedule that someone has set. To read their signs and have some flexibility while understanding their needs will set you all off on a great path to sleep optimisation. And guess what my sleep optimisation program teaches. How to read your baby and have some flexibility to optimise baby sleep. Oh snap.

13.01.2022 Here we go on myth busting Monday. I see and hear this one alot when babies wake frequently ovenight. Many assume that it is because they are getting too much sleep during the day. Well I'm here to bust this myth. The opposite is definately true for younger babies. If they don't get enough sleep during the day they get over tired, overwhelmed and overstimulated and then their poor little brain has trouble relaxing down out of that. Babies need alot of sleep so please don't deny them that. The only time I would maybe consider there may be a need to reduce day sleep would be with toddlers when bedtime is becoming later and later as they don't appear to be tired. Even then I would be bringing their night sleep forward to avoid the overtired effect.

12.01.2022 Its funny when a baby starts sleeping better its not uncommon for parents to ask if theyre sleeping too much. Theres very few situations I would recommend waking a sleeping baby. Theyre sleeping because they need it. You really dont want an overtired baby.

12.01.2022 I didnt see this coming but Im loving online consults. This is all people see of me but the process is working. My last little petal improved significantly after a quick phone consult, few check up texts and a planned even quicker online follow up. The whole family is now on a new and improved sleep program

12.01.2022 I speak to so many parents who get so confused by all the well meaning advice given to them. So I thought Mondays seems like a good day to deal with this Todays one is an interesting one. Babies do know how to sleep. What can happen is their carers interupt the process and they end up over tired and wound up and then they can't sleep. Of course there's the issues of needing to feed regularly and not having their own biological clock yet and there is certainly times when they are young that they complain about their new surrounds but knowing how to support them through this will help with their sleep long term.

09.01.2022 We have big dreams for our babies even before theyre born. Great baby sleep doesnt have to be a dream #sleep babysleep #babysleep #sleepbaby

08.01.2022 Happy Fathers day to all the Dads, Grandpas, lost fathers, soon to be Dads, step dads and dad like figures.

08.01.2022 Important to remember in all stages of life #notperfect #sleepbaby #babysleep #tryyourbest #itwilldo

08.01.2022 Rigid planning in your work life may have been what was needed. Babies tend not to run to rigid but a plan of what to do will help you feel a little more in control

08.01.2022 Happy new year my little petals. As we launch into the new year it’s always tempting to set resolutions. I’ve definately given up that habit and now set a theme for the year. One year was to see more live music (that was a fun one) another year was to be more conscious of spending (not as much fun but worthwhile). Resolutions put more pressure on us we don’t need. Resist the urge my petals.

08.01.2022 When you have a set idea about what your baby should be doing you arent able to see what you baby needs to be doing. To learn how to read their signs from the start dont forget our little package of videos to start you on your sleepy journey. Link in bio

07.01.2022 One of my favourite things to hear. As all I’m here to do is help you think of some different ways to help your baby #littlepetals

07.01.2022 Unfortunately babies cry. There’s no escaping it. Even if you held them 24 hours a day they would still cry. It’s actually normal for them to cry, it’s the only way they can communicate. Between 2 weeks and 4 months they often go through a quite intense period of crying that often concerns parents but this too shall end if you face it with a calm attitude, sensible sleep patterns and a good deal of support. If you are concerned have them checked or talk to someone but even a well baby can go through this period

06.01.2022 Babies are little for such a short period of time. Enjoying these precious moments is much sweeter when everyone has had a good solid dose of beautiful, soul filling, delicious sleep.

06.01.2022 Could not agree more Mr Franklin. Dont forget we have an online program that will help you prepare for baby sleep and prevent you getting into the situation I see so many parents in -just not sure what to do about their babys sleep. I want every parent to feel informed and empowered. And just between you and me Ive left the opening price on for a little longer to help spread the word and support parents at present when face to face support can be hard to get.

05.01.2022 Ive been a little quiet of late as like us all Ive been dealing with lockdown and children. Ive also been working on some exciting things for little petals. Hopefully next week Ill have news to share. I hope youre all doing ok and Im always here to help if needed #sleepbabysleep #babysleep #sleepbaby

04.01.2022 I have had a little reminder how important it is to focus on our sleep as adults also. I've had a few sleepless nights in a row and by yesterday was really feeling it. So I had a little talk to myself about the things I know we should do to improve sleep and managed to have a better night last night. It's funny the tireder we get the less likely we are to do the things we know will help. But even when you have a baby disturbing your sleep it's still important to maximise the sleep you can get.

04.01.2022 Try to keep your message to your baby consistent. You want them to work out what is happening around them. You want them to know that sleep time is sleep time. When you enter their room to console them you want to be giving different cues to when youre going in to get them up.

04.01.2022 In my latest blog I discuss why I wanted to start Little Petals. Sneak peak - its because I care about parents and their newborn experience. Link in bio

04.01.2022 Today in Australia it is r u ok day. I speak to many mums who are not ok. Theyve not been ok for awhile but for many reasons dont talk about it. Ask away today to anyone you think needs it. Follow @ruokday for what to say when people say no. #ruok #ruokday

04.01.2022 congratulations @brionystephenssss its you. We have sent you a message to claim your prize. We look forward to optimising your babies sleep. Winner chosen by a random generator.

03.01.2022 No one can ever tell you when your baby should be sleeping through the night. Ive said it before and Ill probably say it again - Theyre all individuals with their own needs and moods and temperaments. Though being able to self settle is a reality we can actually work towards.

03.01.2022 We have to be careful not to assume there is any one size fits all approach to baby sleep. This includes expecting all parents to have the same needs.

02.01.2022 Actually this one is different as its absolutely ok to feed to sleep if thats what you want to do. But within that is the fact that they need to learn to go to sleep by themselves so when they wake up during the night they know what to do without being fed back to sleep. Some will get it anyway and some wont you just dont know which one youve been given. If this suits you that is 100% fine.
