25.01.2022 Social distancing on the days I dont have to go into work means staying at home with these precious ones. At one stage today we all gloved up to work on a stone path over the newly mulched garden. Then the guinea pigs escaped and it was all a bit exciting!! The trick to staying sane so far seems to be variety. Mixing up the activities & working in alone time to breathe and get more grounded.
25.01.2022 Good for the soul - even if it involves 1000 tantrums from my youngest. #strongwilledchild #naturetherapy #biketime #easyrider
25.01.2022 Happiness is witnessing the magic of seeds sprouting through the earth. Life unfurling. #moringaseedling #miracletree #happiness #gardeninglife
23.01.2022 May you never lose the curiosity, playfulness and joy of childhood #love #play #helpingmeinthegarden
23.01.2022 Excited to have grown and be harvesting loofahs this year. My first crop are mini mini but Im told that I just need to feed the plant more nutrients to encourage a bigger crop. I quite like these tiny loofahs though! What do you think? #homegrown #minimalwaste #diy #gardengirl
21.01.2022 And thats a wrap! Little SeedPods Forest School Playgroup has had an absolutely amazing year - spending each Wednesday morning out in some pretty special places in Brisbanes parks and reserves. The best part for me personally has been the community of carers and children who have joined us. Weve made some life long friends!! For now though, Im hanging up my hat as playgroup facilitator. I will of course continue to teach Forest School - at work and other places - and I ...will always seek out nature with my kids - as I hope you do too. This page will for now be a place for me to share some of our adventures in nature + inspiration & ideas. I hope you stick around because Im sure that 2020 is going to bring some pretty special moments. Thank you for sharing the journey with us this year!
20.01.2022 I think one of my all-time favourite things to do is rock-hopping along a gorgeous creek. This was one of the last pictures I got of Cedar Creek before my phone fell in the water... now all my photos look like the apocalypse is here... fingers crossed the water leaves my camera lense soon so I dont have to buy a new phone #rock hopping #cedarcreek #waterfalls #phonesandwaterdontmix
17.01.2022 Always a great spot to adventure along the creek!!! Such a shame that everyone seems to think its totally fine to have their dogs off leash - despite the signs telling them not to. I told one lady that perhaps she should put her dog back on the lead (when it turned up lost without her) & she cut me down saying it was his last day on earth and his last walk.
17.01.2022 Locally grown produce is the best kind of produce!! Cant wait to get all these goodies into our bellies #foodconnect #locallygrown #healthyeating
16.01.2022 Todays lunchtime harvest. One of the perks of working from home is being able to fill my soul with gardening love while on my lunch break. What did you harvest today? #reapwhatyousow #appreciatewhatyouhave #springinthegarden #mulberriesfordays
13.01.2022 She turned my drawing of Corona Virus into Sunflowers Oh what a blessing children are. #optimism #childhood #motherhood #covid19
13.01.2022 We learnt together that the cute green caterpillar we found back in March is now this Evening Brown Butterfly - Melanitis leda. Common to Brisbane, their host plants are many types of grasses. #natureisamazing #lifecycles #butterfliesofbrisbane
13.01.2022 My happy place. Nature heals the soul. #foresttherapy #shinrinyoku #breatheinbreatheout #rockhoppingadventures
13.01.2022 Our contribution to the #facechallenge. Photos by my almost 7 yr old who loved the chance to race around the house looking for different faces. There were many many more photos but not all were in focus. Thanks for the challenge @emmascraggles #photochallenge #facechallenge #scavengerhunt
13.01.2022 Can vouch for this one!
12.01.2022 My first ever sourdough loaf. Got the tick of approval from everyone!! #sourdough #coronaliving #slowingdown
12.01.2022 Im at the point with home schooling that Im done with the set tasks. And the rebel (+ ex-teacher) that I am means we are doing our own kinda learning now. Todays science lesson involved my daughter helping me finish building this Black Soldier Fly Larvae farm. It will be an automatic feeder for our chickens!! As the larvae get ready to pupate, they leave the farm and drop straight into to chook yard - ready for our hens to enjoy!! Oh and I told her teacher and she gave full approval. So goodbye mum guilt! #covidschooling #homescience #blacksoldierflyfarming
11.01.2022 Yesterday my psychologist shared this idea (via Zoom of course!) that shes done with her kids who are the same age as mine. Making a jar of things to do after the virus helps them to see that this time really will end. My girls got so into it. They spent well over an hour decorating the jar, drawing & writing ideas. I added in some too! Cant wait to party & hug everyone after this!!! Perhaps your family would also benefit from this too!? ... #mentalhealthforkids #afterthevirus #sharethelove
10.01.2022 Good for adults and children
10.01.2022 Did you know you can recycle polystyrene? Ive been saving it up for the last few years and today I finally got around to taking it to the nearest recycling place. The most exciting part was the squishy drive over. Can you spot my kids in the styrofoam jungle? #covid19cleanup #decluttering #recycling
10.01.2022 Curious about Forest School? Book into a free trial session with Wildlings Brisbane next week
10.01.2022 A Passion flower for you all today. May their exquisite beauty remind you of how wondrous life truly is. May this brighten your feed with hope and light and love in this time of uncertainty and fear. #homegrownproduce #passionflower #hope
10.01.2022 Loving the stunning flowers in the pollinator garden at work. #pollinatorgarden #naturelover
09.01.2022 A couple of months ago, the man Id been dating ended our relationship suddenly & unexpectedly - breaking my heart into pieces. I bought this Philodendron soon after because I liked the love-heart shapes of the leaves & because I always find that plants help heal me when Im broken. Then I unexpectedly injured my back quite badly & ended up in bed / at home with my plants. As my heart and my back have slowly healed, Ive witnessed this plant growing new shoots and leaves. I ...feel like its a reflection of how Ive been growing too. Being broken is always an opportunity for growth through the healing process & Ive been leaning into all that juicy growth. Next time though universe, Id much prefer growth without being broken first please? It has been a tricky couple of months but Im grateful for this plant who shared my space while I grieved and grew. Some people love dogs. I love my plants. #plantsmakepeoplehappy #loveyourself #growthmindset #healingjourney See more
08.01.2022 It is engrained in their DNA!
08.01.2022 Against her will I dragged my eldest out for a walk in the rain. The more she protested the more stubborn I became about us needing to get outside. We walked around the block and went on a fun adventure through a tiny patch of remnant Bushland with a creek running through thanks to the rain. She then became the leader of our adventure and was the one pushing for us not to leave! So glad I insisted upon the outside time. One day Ill live next to or in a bush block. #rainyafternoonadventures #citynaturekids #getoutside
06.01.2022 Those freedom feelings when you actually go for a walk around the block with your kids after theyve been at home for a whole week thanks to that famous virus. Were normally too busy to go for a neighbourhood walk together but with my reduced work days and WFH status so... no commuting!!! We suddenly have many many many more hours in each day. The kids went completely hypo from this walk. Ill definitely be doing more of this as it was so beneficial for all of us #neighbourhood #keepingitlocal #eveningwalks
05.01.2022 Heres some positive thing that happened this year presented in a rhyme
03.01.2022 Im choosing to see this time as an opportunity for growth rather than falling into fear & anxiety. Getting outside in my garden or in nature is key to this shift for me. How are you finding ways to see this pandemic positively? #butterfly #gardening #positivevibrations #growth
02.01.2022 A good reminder
02.01.2022 I found this little flower blooming all alone in the forest and it gave me a little ray of Hope. #naturelover #naturetherapy
01.01.2022 I had to drag the girls away from this park today! It was brilliant. Complete with a native plant nursery and even a tree stump from an ancient giant Eucalypt dated 1780 - before Europeans invaded. #natureplay #wishplaygroundswerethiscoolwheniwasakid @ Peacehaven Park
01.01.2022 God I love this man... #celebritycrush
