15.01.2022 This quote comes from one of the co-authors of the Circle of Security Parenting Program. It is something worth thinking about when we are faced with challenging behaviour in our children. Remember, behaviour is a form of communication, and children often escalate their behaviour in the effort to get their point across. When faced with challenging or difficult behaviour, try to identify the underlying feeling or need that your child is trying to communicate, and support them to develop helpful ways of communicating this. This is not easy, but practice makes perfect!

15.01.2022 Play is a child’s job. It is how they learn about themselves and their world. Engagement in multi-sensory play is one of the best ways to support your child’s development. 10.01.2022 How many repetitions do you think it takes to learn a new sound?? As Speech Pathologists, we aim to get doses (or ‘repetitions’) of each sound in each session ! It always amazes me how quickly a child can achieve this! ... This is one of our favourite ways to get doses for the ‘sh’ sound! Today, we were counting out the Silly Sheep! and collecting the counters with our magic wand What are your favourite ways to get those repetitions ?

09.01.2022 We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing. -George Bernard Shaw DID YOU KNOW? It is important to get down to your child’s level in every way during play. This helps your child to connect with you and in turn, build their communication skills. ... #speechtherapy #speechpathology #occupationaltherapy #ot #littlestepstherapies #earlyintervention #therapy #ndisregistered #ndis #fun #play #development #mumsofinstagram #ipreview via @preview.app See more

04.01.2022 Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn. -Benjamin Franklin The more you hand over to children, the more they feel in control of their learning. By giving them ownership, children develop a love for learning. It is empowering for children to see their brilliant ideas come to fruition.... For this simple reason, it is always important to involve children in designing their learning as much as possible! #speechtherapy #speechpathology #occupationaltherapy #ot #littlestepstherapies #earlyintervention #therapy #ndisregistered #ndis #fun #play #development #mumsofinstagram #rousehill #sydney #alliedhealth #developmentaldelay #asd #ipreview via @preview.app See more
