25.01.2022 Spring, I'm so happy you're here. I needed a new season, and you spring, might be my favourite. New leaves, blossoming flowers, sunshine and more daylight....just what I need
24.01.2022 I enjoy preparing and cooking food with the kids when they're up for it. We've made all sorts of things including hummus. So easy to make, has nothing nasty added like many of the store bought varieties and provides you with a tasty dip for vege sticks, fruit or crackers. What do your kids like to make that's quick and easy?
24.01.2022 Can't believe it's time to start planning next year I would have thought all the extra time at home would make it feel like a really long year, but here we are! Hopefully if all stays well in Melbourne, I'll be able to run fertility, pregnancy and postpartum workshops in person What's on your list for next year?
23.01.2022 Illustration by @ododua.aum isn't it beautiful She writes "It takes a whole village to keep the parents sane" So very true. It often feels like you're doing it all on your own as a new parent. And for those of you tackling this in isolation, it's especially difficult. We might be connected via social media but it's not the same as having people around you who can step in and help you.... So thank you to all those people in my little village helping me and my family. I'm eternally grateful
23.01.2022 Recently it's been a challenge to create balance in my life (and I know this problem is not unique to me). There's been little opportunity to carve out time in my days where I can spend time alone, or call a friend, or just do something other than all the daily tasks of parenting two small kids and running a business. And of course staying at home all the time means I just see a whole lot of chores to do. But I crave balance in my life, it must be because I'm a libran Yoga... gives me that balance, as does spending time in nature and gardening. What helps you feel balanced?
22.01.2022 Happy Father's day to the most talented man I know. Not only does he have endless time and energy to play with our gorgeous boys, he looks after me as well. He continues to make us all laugh and we're so lucky to have him in our lives. During lockdown, he's been learning this new skill and soon he'll be ready to add flames
22.01.2022 Such a glorious sunny day I don't remember being this excited about the sunshine when I lived in Syndey, but in Melbourne every sunny day is like Christmas, and I've lived here for at least 12 years and it never gets old @bonjourbabies @emmawilson6025 perhaps you can tell me if you guys get excited about good weather??
18.01.2022 I feel so fortunate to spend my days helping women with their health. The strength and resilience of women never ceases to amaze me. In the face of challenging health issues such as difficulty conceiving, coping with pregnancy loss or managing post partum depression, my clients tackle their circumstances with grace, determination and courage. To all my clients, thank you for always inspiring me and being the reason I love my job #womenshealthweek2020... by Priscilla Du Preez on unsplash
18.01.2022 Homemade seed crackers and beetroot dip for our afternoon tea. The boys helped me make it, my eldest calling it an experiment, which it is I guess. Anyway, simple to make, healthy and my youngest particularly loves it. I'll post the recipes in my comments, if you try it let me know what you think
16.01.2022 Thank you @pureelementnaturopathy for my personalised essential oil blend, aptly named Lee's uplift and restore blend During my recent yoga classes we've been exploring joy and how to find joy in the little things. I've been asking my students to identify what they can do to find joy in their day. Lockdown is tough and it's these little things that can make all the difference. When I open this bottle and apply the oil to my skin, I get a sense of joy for doing something just for myself.
16.01.2022 There's nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby on your chest It can be tiring though especially if you struggle to sleep when your bub is on your chest, and when you're tired it's hard to find the joy in these little moments. To all the mums in lockdown, unable to get the support and help you need right now, my heart is sending you all my love
15.01.2022 Find a sunny spot in your balcony or backyard and join me for some yoga online and live streamed. It's the next best thing to being in studio (some students even prefer it). We have a chat, we laugh, we get moving, stretch out, relax and breathe deeply. To book just click the link in my bio
13.01.2022 With spring comes fresh, crispy salads This one is so simple, just shredded red cabbage, dill and apple cider vinegar. Spring onion and crushed raw garlic is also good with it What's your favourite go to simple salad?
12.01.2022 Recently in yoga, we've been practising patience. For us in Victoria this has been so relevant as we patiently await the easing of restrictions. In yoga we practise patience by taking our time to transition between poses, to move slowly and deliberately, and to hold poses and be present in them. In our daily lives we can practise patience by reminding ourselves that we don't need to hurry, that it's ok to slow down, and by trying to stay in the moment rather than letting our... mind race off to numerous tasks. It's easier said than done and that's why we just keep practising.
11.01.2022 Happy birthday gorgeous Mum @vdaley1156 How lucky we are to be able to celebrate your birthday together. Thank you for your ongoing support, care, guidance, love and kindness. My boys are so lucky to have you as their narnie xx
10.01.2022 Postpartum can look a lot like this. Sitting on the couch, in your pjs at 4pm, possibly covered in either milk or baby vomit (or both) wondering if you're going to be able to leave the house that day. It's beautiful, overwhelming and forces new mothers (and second and third timers etc) to grow, reinvent themselves and find their new normal. It's physically and emotionally taxing. It's a 24 hour job, one where sleep can be found only in short bursts. You need your strength, ...your resilience and to know when you need help. Preparing for your postpartum is invaluable. During pregnancy, you can ensure your nutritonal status is at it's best, you can write up a postpartum plan including what help you think you will need and who will provide it, and you can practise your stress management techniques before things get stressful. I'm here to support you through your pregnancy and into your postpartum care. I can work with you to make the transition from pregnancy to postpartum easier. If you're interested to learn more about how I might help you, book in for a free 15minute chat by clicking the link in my bio.
10.01.2022 How do your eggs feel?? When I'm working with clients preparing for pregnancy, or those having difficulty conceiving, we do spend a bit of time focusing on your egg quality. Good eggs are vital to optimise your chances of conception and having a healthy pregnancy and baby. Some simple ways to make your eggs happy include;... increasing your antioxidant intake by eating in season, local and organic (if possible) fruit and vegetables avoiding or at least minimising your exposure to environmental toxins such as plastics, chemicals in cleaning and skincare products and pesticides avoiding foods high in refined sugar eating healthy fats such as olive oil, avocado, nuts, seeds and oily fish such as salmon, sardines and mackerel exercising regularly by Tengyart on Unsplash
10.01.2022 The squats we practise in prenatal yoga not only build stength in your legs getting you strong for labour and birth, it also opens your pelvis boosting circulation and toning the pelvic floor. Who's going to join me this week for prenatal yoga?
09.01.2022 Yoga online and live streamed I've really enjoyed online yoga classes, I get to meet new people, and their pets and kids as they find their way on to the mat. We get the opportunity to move, breathe deeply and connect socially. It's a joy. Group sizes are small so I can actually see what you're doing and provide verbal adjustments to ensure you are moving safely. Although you can always turn the camera off once class starts (please say hello first) if you're a bit camera s...hy. Who's joining me for a class soon?
08.01.2022 Oh how time flies #tbt my first gorgeous boy at about 6 months giving me 'the look' This look is now accompanied with threats of him never playing with me again!
05.01.2022 With my first baby, my answer was a big no! I was so engrossed planning for labour and birth I completely forgot to think about what it would actually be like to have a newborn. Can anyone relate? If you're pregnant having a postpartum plan can be invaluable. Things might not go according to plan all the time, but having a plan at least sets you up for a more confident and healthy postpartum. These are the things I considered in my second pregnancy:... who is my support team? Will they provide good food, make me a cup of tea, hold the baby while I rest, shower, gather my thoughts, cry with etc are my nutritonal needs being met? Am I setting myself up for all the demands of a newborn including breastfeeding and sleep deprivation. Maybe I need nutritional and/or herbal medicines. how am I going to look after myself? What are some very small daily tasks I can do to provide me with some self care? What else would you add?
04.01.2022 Thank goodness for magnificent mother nature Lockdown has been tough for everyone. For me, the challenge of running a business and having two preschool aged kids as my constant shadow (as gorgeous as they are) has left me feeling depleted. But it's all the little things that keep me going: spending time in nature instantly relaxes me and calms my mind... spending time on my business brings me so much joy, and I get to talk with exceptional people and be a part of their journey to better health teaching and practising yoga. Online live streamed yoga is a wonderful way to socialise and move lots of cuddles with my little babes What keeps you going?
04.01.2022 I started my business Little Village in August this year and I've absolutely loved settling into it. I launched with online services due to our lockdown restrictions and this has been working beautifully. In fact, many of my clients have found the transition from face to face easy and convenient. My business focuses on helping clients with their fertility, pregnancy and postpartum health. I use my knowledge as a naturopath and experience as a mother to provide support to my c...lients specific to their needs. I utilise herbal medicines, nutritional supplementation, diet and lifestyle to help them feel well. I spend time studying my clients pathology reports, clinical presentation and health history to come up with a treatment plan that is unique to them, because one size does not fit all. If you're interested in learning more about what I do, click the link on my bio to see my website or book in for a free 15 minute introductory call to see how I can help you And if you're looking for some branding and website design check out @mediaavenuedesign
03.01.2022 My little clinic sanctuary amongst the trees Hopefully soon I'll be able to give my clients the option of in person consultations, although operating entirely online is working really well and in fact, many of my clients prefer it. It's convenient, no time needed for travelling and they still get everything they need. So post lockdown I'll continue to run my business online and offer face to face for those that want it.
02.01.2022 For me the issue was stress. Hindsight is a beautiful thing and I look back on that time of my life and laugh at why I thought I would fall pregnant with all the things I was juggling and how much stress I was dealing with. I know for some it might be more than stress, I know there might be more complex underlying issues going on that need to be sorted out first. I know that sometimes it just takes time, and I also know that sometimes additional help is needed such as artificial reproductive technology such as IVF. If you're tired of trying and wondering why it's not happening for you, perhaps I can help... I run my business online so we don't need to worry about COVID-19 restrictions AND I offer a free 15 minute introductory call to see we're a good fit. You can book an introductory call via my profile link.
02.01.2022 Are you ready for the demands of a newborn? I know with my first I was totally unprepared. I focused so much on labour and birth, I forgot to imagine what having a newborn would be like.....they just eat and sleep right?! Well my first fed all the time, hardly slept unless I was walking him around and therefore I had little time to look after myself. I was shocked at the sheer exhaustion I felt. That's why I want to help women get ready for their postpartum. We focus on you...r nutritional status and your emotional and mental health so you are as prepared (as possible) for your birth as a mother. The newborn period is so fleeting I want you to have the energy to enjoy it This is a photo of me with my second gorgeous boy. I am so grateful I had @_bornonawednesday capture those early weeks.
