24.01.2022 The best education does not happen at a desk, but rather engaged in everyday living -hands on, exploring, in active relationship with life.

22.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we inform our local community that our charity bins are being removed from the service car park. Unfortunately we have had a multitude of problems with the collection van from 1 world picking and choosing what they want, placing the things they don’t want in our centre bin and recycling bins. Not to mention leaving unsightly messes (as pictured). In addition we have had members of the public also taking it upon them selves to fill our bins with t...heir household waste. Or leaving boxes of items outside of the bins to litter our car park. We have made the decision to remove the charity bins and will be restricting access to the centre car park outside of hours. As a small business we have been hit hard enough this year without having to cover the additional waste disposal costs. We apologise to and extend thanks to the many members of our community who have always done the right thing.

19.01.2022 My first impression was of how calm the centre is. When I walked in the door there was this lovely soft music, a diffuser emitting this delightfully delicate smell and your warm smile to meet us. Everything made me instantly feel at ease and my children could sense my comfort. Even now a few weeks on I notice how this welcome sets the pace for the day. Im so thankful to have found this beautiful centre! -New Parent. *Pictured is the before and after of our entry way. The very first aspect of our first impression.

18.01.2022 Wishing all a safe and magical Easter from the LWS family

17.01.2022 All kinds of wonderful craft to keep children occupied while spending time at home. Things gathered on walks or in your own back yard could keep them happy entertained for ages and as a bonus its teaches a love of nature and the outdoors. Pics from Pinterest.

16.01.2022 Last week we had a very special task... Out of our vast collection we had to choose our most favourite stories. Tess then had the special task of finding those books so that we could make a very special donation to Birali Steiner School, who has just opened their library We hope that these books bring delight and joy for many years to come!

14.01.2022 We are in need of an exceptional builder or plumber to help us with the first of our childrens bathroom renovations. Any suggestions? *must be someone local and a fellow small business. We support our community, as our community supports us!

14.01.2022 Dandelions are one of our favourite resources. Here we have a 9 children production line for dandelion porridge including harvest, dissecting, cutting, mixing, packaging and finally, distribution. #springtime #mudpies #childhood

13.01.2022 We always make time to hold babies. Every educator, every day. We dont force them to cry it out or expect them to self sooth. We meet their emotional needs. This helps them to develop a sense of security that will inevitably result in happy, confident and independent babies. When they feel secure, they venture off to learn and play knowing that they are safe.

11.01.2022 Another day, another opportunity to play! Play is an activity where children show their remarkable ability for exploration, imagination and decision making. While play is often described as childrens work, it is intensely enjoyable for them. The type of play children engage in and its purposes change over the course of childhood from infancy to adolescence. https://www.startingblocks.gov.au//the-importance-of-play/

09.01.2022 Rudolph Steiner and many other childhood thinkers through the 19th and 20th centuries emphasised the importance of understanding how young children naturally learn to learn, and of providing educational experiences which build on their natural interests and curiosity. https://www.theguardian.com//steiner-schools-children-tabl

08.01.2022 I remember saying to my husband this is the perfect spot, well just dig out the trees and relocate them. To which he replied sure, YOU dig them out and Ill move them anywhere you like. Well... They are out, but gosh, Im never doing that again! Any guesses what this space is to become?

07.01.2022 Our beautiful little service is forever growing and developing, from humble beginnings to where we proudly stand now. This is largely due to the magic that each educator brings to our team. Pep has joined us as our Kindergarten teacher however due to a past injury that has become more current, we have had to look at what will be best for our Kindergarten children. After careful consideration, we as a team have decided that Pep will continue to support LWS however in a new ca...pacity. She will work alongside all teachers as a mentor and consultant enabling her to share her many years of expertise throughout the service. Professionals with Pep’s level of knowledge and experience are few and far between and her offer to continue to support us in the years to come is incredibly well received and valued. Though we are incredibly saddened that Pep will no longer we present in the capacity of our Kindergarten teacher, she will be joining our extended community in more ways than one. We are beyond delighted that we will continue to work alongside Pep in one of the most exceptional twists of fate! Interim Principle at Birali Steiner school! We are also exceptionally lucky in the way that we have several highly qualified teachers already a part of our team. We are delighted to announce that Holly will be stepping into the position of Kindergarten teacher. Holly holds a Bachelor of Education- Early Childhood (obtained in 2009). She has dedicated much of her teaching career to advocating for young children and is excited to undertake this important roll. This is wonderful as she already knows the children, families and Kindergarten routine. Holly will work alongside Paula in delivering our Kindergarten program and will continue to engage with Pep over the years to come. Holly looks forward to hosting the first of our termly Kindergarten information evenings early into term two and warmly invites families to email the service if they would like a one-on-one meeting to discuss the individual needs and goals of their child.

06.01.2022 These guys were last seen in Ningi, if our community could please keep an eye out that would mean the world to their family

06.01.2022 This week we said farewell to a very dear friend who has been apart of this centre for 10 years! Not only is Saara an exceptional educator but also a pillar within our community. We thank her deeply for the love, support and hard work she has put in to help us build LWS We wish her, and her family safe travels up north and cant wait for her next visit back.

06.01.2022 This is what rest time looks like for our children who dont sleep. A sand mine with diggers, dump trucks and a bumpy road. We love that we can support the children in making choices about their own needs. Not all children need a day sleep, not all children need a rest period, not all children need quite time however ALL children need time to unwind in free play #playbasedlearning #autonomy #trucksareforgirlsandboys

06.01.2022 So many of our beautiful treasures have come from Growing Kind. Natural materials, ethically produced and Australian makers for very happy children! Why not get a head start on Christmas shopping and be sure to let Amie know you are part of the Little Waldorf School family!

06.01.2022 A beautiful spring flower perfume has captivated the children today. Children are naturally active learners when provide the opportunity to play freely. Through play they explore, discover, negotiate, take risks, create meaning and solve problems. All of these skills provide the foundations for literacy, numeracy and social skills within their early years.

05.01.2022 A freshen up in our toddler space ready for this mornings adventures!

05.01.2022 What you are creating is so amazing for the children and parents who get to experience it and especially for the carers and educators in your team. I can see how hard you work, how sensitive, empathic, organised, accomodating, loving, flexible and kind you are. All the staff are privileged to be able to work with you, your direction and your vision. An unexpected but greatly appreciated thank you from a very special member of our LWS community

04.01.2022 Another day in paradise How perfect is this weather?

04.01.2022 Usually children spend more time in the garden than anybody else. It is where they learn about the world, because they can be in it free, yet protected. No one sees the garden as vividly, or cares about it as passionately, as the child who grows up in it. Stage one of our vegetable garden is ready for planting ... Special shout out to Clinton from Bretts Timber & Hardware for not only blessing us with his beautiful daughter every school holidays but also helping us out with stunning untreated cypress

04.01.2022 A child is not a dollar sign. A child is a human... And when education and care services can view children as such, the most amazing things can happen #OurReviews #ECECreform #MakingADifferenceEveryDay

02.01.2022 Please take a moment to show our Government that early childhood educators matter! We are only the front line AND one of the industrys hit hardest by Covid-19. Your support means everything to us and our industry http://chng.it/8gjQbs8MTJ

01.01.2022 words of wisdom

01.01.2022 Today was our very 1st Birthday! 1 year as Little Waldorf School and my what a year it’s been. A year of long days often lasting well into the night, weekend renovations almost every weekend, mentoring, networking and advocating all to benefit our amazing little people. A year of hard work and we wouldn’t change a thing. Here we are, even through COVID-19, stronger and prouder than ever of all we have accomplished so far. Thank you to all who have, are and will support us in the years to come

01.01.2022 We have fallen short of some logs for a project happening over this long weekend in our big yard. We are reaching out to our beautiful community to see if anyone has had any trees come down and some logs they would like removed? We are happy to collect today if at all possible. Utes and chainsaws at the ready

01.01.2022 Last nights Winter Festival Even with the cool winter wind blowing out the candles (many a times) the warmth of the school community was truely magical. A lovely evening to share with so many of our families.
