16.01.2022 With Australia currently facing what could be its worst bushfire crises in history, Lions Clubs are rallying together to support those affected. Lions across t...he country have been out in full force in their communities this week. And when disaster strikes, the Australian Lions Foundation is focused on getting emergency support to communities in need as quickly as possible. Right now, residents across NSW and QLD need our help, says Foundation Chairperson Tony Benbow OAM. Australians looking to make a donation and support those affected by the bushfires can do so through their local Lions Club or through donating directly to Australian Lions Foundation. Every dollar will go directly to supporting those affected and donations over $2 are tax deductable. To make a donation visit http://www.alf.lions.org.au/ and select the GiveNow link. https://www.givenow.com.au/australianlionsfoundation All donations over $2 are tax deductible. #LionsAustralia #LionsWeServe See more

14.01.2022 GOOD ON YA GORDON Merimbula Lions volunteer Gordon Matthews has been helping at the evacuation centre in Bega for four days straight. He usually starts at 6...AM helping direct traffic, unloading supplies and answering questions from evacuees before finishing at 11 PM at night. He said theres plenty of water and food at the centre. We have bucketloads of bottled water. I reckon weve got enough to irrigate the Bega Valley. ABC: Adriane Reardon

14.01.2022 AUSTRALIAN LIONS HEARING DOGS Australian Lions Hearing Dogs (ALHD) have, since 1982, supported hundreds of Australians with impaired hearing to hear sounds such... as a knock at the door, a telephone ringing or a smoke alarm. Carl, pictured below, is one of more than ten dogs rescued by the Australian Lions Hearing Dogs from the Dogs Homes of Tasmania in Hobart. In 2018, Carl travelled from Risdon Vale to the ALHD National Headquarters in the Adelaide Hills where he passed his training with flying colours. This year Carl was placed with a very happy owner in South Australia. About 60% of dogs in training currently come from pounds and shelters, mainly the Animal Welfare League and RSPCA in South Australia, Dogs Homes of Tasmania in Hobart and Yorke Peninsula Puppy Rescue. There are currently three dogs from the Dogs Homes of Tasmania in training - Kya, Moira and Boston. (pictured below) Each Lions Hearing Dog costs upwards of $30,000 to train and deliver, free of charge, to its owner. This funding is donated from Lions Clubs across Australia including the New Norfolk Lions Club. The Australian Lions Hearing Dogs National Headquarters is the only accredited Training Centre in Australia. Four active Lions Hearing Dogs are currently working with their hearing-impaired owners in Tasmania. Two were placed through the Lions Club of Clarence, and one each through the Lions Clubs of Glenorchy and Kings Meadows. Pictured from left: Carl. 05.01.2022 Our treasurer, Julie, is pictured handing over a cheque for $5,000.00 to the Australian Lions Foundation (ALF) disaster relief appeal for bushfire victims to th...eir chairperson Tony Benbow. The ALF has so far raised approximately $950,000 with around $625,000 distributed throughout fire affected regions to date. Lions are proud of the fact that 100 percent of all donations go directly assisting those in need. They don't take 1 cent out for administration. Thank you to our tiny community for your ongoing support of our club. Without your support we couldn't do what we do, assisting those in their time of need. If you would like to assist and donate please let us know and we will see that your donation goes to the those that deserve it. Proud to be a Lion. See more

01.01.2022 In times of uncertainty, it's important to still feel connected to our members and communities. As we advise all clubs to follow the government's official advic...e and adhere to social distancing, face-to-face meetings may not be possible over the coming months. But this does not have to mean that we lose touch with fellow members and friends. Over the coming days we'll be sharing some ideas for staying connected during this time. Our first tip is an easy one and it's all about keeping those lines of communication open. Utilise free video conferencing technology like Zoom, FaceTime or Skype to hold meetings or catch up with family and friends. Or if these aren't an option for you - simply offer to be that listening ear that many might be needing right now. How is your club planning to stay connected? #WeServe #StayConnected See more

01.01.2022 We welcome anyone interested in Lions to attend a meeting. Come and enjoy - just send us a message and we will contact you.
