20.01.2022 Hello everyone. Just a reminder that Flow Foundations is on tonight, as with every Wednesday! 7-8pm on Zoom --> https://us04web.zoom.us/j/213334749. It's donation-based and all money will go to the Trussell Trust.

20.01.2022 Hello everyone, a mediocre Christmas to you all! I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who's practiced with me this year. It's been an absolute joy to teach all of you throughout the course of multiple lockdowns, changes in tiers, seasons and all kinds of emotional states. I know it's been a challenging year for all of us, but by coming, you've helped us build a small and lovely community of practice. I'd planned for a break over Christmas but to be quite honest, I've ...changed my mind with everything that's been going on. I think we're all feeling a bit crap and we could all probably do with some community, chill time and also energising. So I'll be running classes: Thursday 24 December: 1-2pm OR 8-9pm (yin and yoga nidra) (you tell me what time suits) Saturday 26 December: 11-12pm (attendees' choice!) Tuesday 29 December: 12-1pm (vinyasa flow and extended savasana) Thursday 31 December: 12-1pm (yin and yoga nidra) Friday 1 OR Saturday 2 January: 11-12pm (New Year energising practice, inc. pranayama) You can access here: https://us04web.zoom.us/s/213334749. As usual, payment is donation-based, with a suggested donation of 5-8 if it's affordable for you, but if not, pay less, or not at all, and come along anyway. Just let me know!

19.01.2022 First proper #asana practice in seven weeks post surgery. No pressure Mim (I mean there literally isn't, but I am me). Gentle movement today. #yoga

18.01.2022 Classes start again next Wednesday at 7pm at Revive Physiotherapy UK... We'll be focusing on exploring range of motion and movement and building strength for the year ahead! Hope to see you there. If not, I'll be starting a weekend class soon... 18.01.2022 Fabulous morning with some amazing people talking about #bodypositivity and getting comfortable with yourself, community support and societal change as part of Soho House's Breakfast Boost series for #IWD. Lots of great chat and new chums made. If you're keen on #bodypositive #yoga I teach in #Surbiton Revive Physiotherapy UK and around town, just get in touch #inclusion #inclusiveyoga #accessibleyoga #accessibility #inclusivity #yogaforeveryone #yogaforeverybody #fatyoga #fatpositive

15.01.2022 No, I haven't started teaching kids and we don't know where she picked this up from! Cute, though. I hope to teach her when she's older! If you do fancy enjoying my #yoga teaching efforts, I'm around for the next few weeks before I take a break to travel to Thailand for a couple of weeks! SLOW flow foundations is every Wednesday evening at 7pm at Revive Physiotherapy on the Ewell Road. #yogaforeveryone #yogaforeverybody #yogaformentalhealth #inclusivity #inclusiveyoga #accessibility #accessibleyoga #bodypositive #bodypositiveyoga #fatyoga #surbitonyoga #surreyyoga #surbiton #ewell

15.01.2022 I haven't got the spoons to talk about what's been going on, to be quite honest. However, I will be teaching virtual Flow Foundations at 7pm tonight if anyone would like to join. Donation-based, all money to The Trussell Trust (https://ko-fi.com/lityoga).

13.01.2022 Jewish or Tribe-adjacent or just interested in stuff? I'm giving a talk about inclusive, accessible and body positive yoga at Manchester Limmud this Sunday. You can find out more here. I think it's only about 10 for the entire event: http://bit.ly/2MSZztw

13.01.2022 Oh you know, just hanging out, waiting to teach my 9am cover class, excited to see it anyone makes it in this weather update: 12! #yoga #teacher #teaching

13.01.2022 Before things hit the fan this week, I was lucky enough to be asked to be on the panel for Soho House's #iwd #bodypositivity panel at Electric Cinema in Notting Hill. Here are some of my practical tips for tough body days, which we are probably all dealing with right now... Utilise dialectical behavioural therapy skills, which you can read up on. I work on recognising maladaptive emotions and instead of bingeing (I previously had treatment for BED) noticing what emotion I'...m feeling, accepting it and looking at how else I can mitigate it Another option might be an act of kindness to oneself, lighting candles, reading a book, having a long bath. And working on wise mind, that middle path between irrational and emotional and rational thinking. A movement practice is great for keeping busy, releasing endorphins and keeping the body mobile. Whether that's going for a walk, 20m of yoga, 90m of Pilates, you do you. Breath is always the key. Meditation doesn't work so well for me, as I have anxiety, which can mean in times of trouble I'm just dwelling on my issues. I prefer to focus on breath. As @smilingmind says, if the mind wanders, just bring the attention back to the breath. If you extend your exhalation, you'll activate your parasympathetic nervous system, the calming side of the body. I'll post some more breath practices soon. Touch your body. Love it with all its bumps and lumps. Get to know it intimately. Work with it, we only get one. #yoga #lityoga #myyogalife #surbitonyoga #surreyyoga #surbiton #ewell #inclusivity #inclusiveyoga #accessibility #accessibleyoga #bodypositive #bodypositiveyoga #fatpositive #fatyoga #yogaforeveryone #yogaforeverybody #yogaformentalhealth #movement #mentalhealth See more

12.01.2022 As an inveterate faffer, I realise the timings I offered for Christmas practices weren't specific enough, as I have had some messages saying 'when you decide on a time'... so I'm deciding! TONIGHT (24th): 6-7pm (yin and yoga nidra) THIS SATURDAY (26th): 11-12pm (attendees' choice still) and 7-8pm if anyone wants NEXT TUESDAY (29th): 12-1pm (vinyasa flow and extended savasana)... NEW YEAR'S EVE (31st): 12-1pm (yin and yoga nidra) NEXT SATURDAY (2nd Jan): 11-12pm (energising New Year practice inc. pranayama) Access https://us04web.zoom.us/s/213334749 and it's donation-based, so you can pay either nothing, a small amount or suggested 5-8. Up to you and your own personal situation.

11.01.2022 About to teach a new student, and my super regular regular is sick so it's a cheeky solo for him, which is actually great for both of us as he gets my undivided attention and help (having been referred by the physio) and I get to learn properly about him and his body. Okay, so I'm making minimum wage on it, but luckily I have a full time job and occasional covers so this particular class can be more about service anyway! I can only hold six max so even when it's totally full, it's not exactly a wild money spinner... #yoga #lityoga #myyogalife #surbitonyoga #surreyyoga #surbiton #ewell #inclusivity #inclusiveyoga #accessibility #accessibleyoga #bodypositive #bodypositiveyoga #fatyoga #yogaforeveryone #yogaforeverybody #yogaformentalhealth #teacher #teaching

09.01.2022 Lovely last #flow #foundations class before Thailand at Revive Physiotherapy UK. Two new students who were focused, fun and soaked up everything we worked on, my delightful regular always a joy, a lovely warmth to the space from that vibe and also the heating working (!) and warm scents of cinnamon and cedarwood from the diffuser. And now home to my brand new flat for some official chillax time (I know I'm '90s) before I go to Thailand on Monday! Lots of time to relax, recuperate and plan. #yoga #lityoga #myyogalife #surbitonyoga #surreyyoga #surbiton #ewell #inclusivity #inclusiveyoga #accessibility #accessibleyoga #bodypositive #bodypositiveyoga #fatpositive #fatyoga #yogaforeveryone #yogaforeverybody #yogaformentalhealth #teaching #teacher #beginners

04.01.2022 Where there's a Miriam, there's usually a cat... Life is busy. Working full time from home disseminating rheumatology #covid19 guidance to clinicians. And teaching donation-based classes Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime and Wednesday evenings... 03.01.2022 I'm very excited to announce that on #IWD, Wednesday 11 March, 10-12, I will be featuring on a #bodypositivity panel for Soho House at Electric Cinema Notting Hill to talk about being #bodypositive as a #yoga #teacher. I am so excited to have this opportunity to talk about how important #inclusivity is, accepting all bodies and minds, and to explain about LIT Yoga, which stands for loving, inclusive, transformational yoga. The photo I chose to accompany this post exemplif...ies my philosophy! If you'd like to come along next week, I can bring some friends for free, so just let me know I'm so excited. See you there? #lityoga #myyogalife #yogaforeveryone #yogaforeverybody #yogaformentalhealth #inclusiveyoga #accessibility #accessibleyoga #bodypositiveyoga #fatyoga #fatpositive #yogaformentalhealthawareness2 #yogacampus See more

01.01.2022 As some of you may know, I come from an Ashtanga yoga background and became interested in informed consent because of the hands-on adjustment stuff, and reading about so much abuse as well across so many lineages. I'm interested in thinking about how we can move forward and what we can learn from each other. I know lots of kinky people and was interested in investigating how consent in that world works, in particular because there are many structures in place there which can be manipulated or respected, and because of the extremity of some of the situations that can occur. I spoke to a friend of mine who is very involved in the world to see what she thought:

01.01.2022 Warning!!! So silly. Just taught second cover class of the day at Fitness Space Epsom. I’m now pretty tired and my throat is sore (!) but it was a great class and a really fun group. We played with some postures, not flip the dog but side planks and alien shoulder rolls. 12 students this morning and five tonight... I’m beginning to realise my style is a bit silly, works you hard but doesn’t take itself too seriously! I like to try things that other people might call ad...vanced but I just think are fun and really I am just quite irreverent. I play a lot with somatics and love consent driven assists. Yay for that. If you want to practice with me, I teach Wednesday evenings at @revivephysiouk and am going to be adding some workshops and possibly another class in the next month or two. It’s a small space, it only holds six max, so you get lots of personal attention and guidance! #yoga #teaching #teacher #yogaforeverybody #yogaforeveryone #inclusive #inclusiveyoga #accessibleyoga #yogasurbiton #epsom #ewell See more
