23.01.2022 This is the seventh in our "Why Lively?" series, where we ask our staff about why they've chosen Lively as a place to work. We had a chat with Annie, our Helper Coordinator, and this is what she had to say: "Why Lively? I love how Lively's mission is centred around nourishing connected communities. The work goes so much further than providing work for young people and support for older people (which are both really fab and exciting things to be doing), and actually looks to r...eimagine how we live together in Australia. Around the world we see how intergenerational relationships have the potential to be so sacred and I love how the Lively approach is to weave these relationships into the fabric of our communities." #livelyteam

23.01.2022 1 home-made reusable face mask 1 bingo card with suggestions to stay connected during lockdown A solidarity message from the Lively team and a flyer about how they can stay connected with us. Recently we got creative and sent these items in a support pack to our members! We encourage you to get creative and think about how you can be sending some love to the older or younger folks in the community who could be struggling right now.

15.01.2022 The Federal Budget said it the time is now to create new forms of employment for young people, and to better care for and support our older community members. After years of designing, testing and proving our intergenerational support model at Lively, we want to take it up a notch! We’re looking to hire hundreds of young jobseekers to support thousands of older community members across Australia. Find out more about how we're stepping up to the government's call, and register your interest in Lively's services through the article below. lively.org.au/blog/budget-2020

15.01.2022 It's get online week now! This week, hundreds of COVID-safe events are happening all across Australia to help people do more online. 10.01.2022 We're thrilled to announce our newest design project, Take Charge, in partnership with Moreland City Council! Together, we're interviewing residents around Moreland about their experiences with ageing and accessing informal and formal help to support their independence and wellbeing. This project will help us develop new programs and services that support a more empowered experience of ageing and getting aged care help in Moreland. If you know an older person in the area who has a story to shareparticularly if they have struggled to get the support they needemail our Service Designer, Robin, on [email protected].

09.01.2022 We are *so* excited to be re-launching our Buds intergenerational gardening program in Darebin! Yesterday our Garden Helpers Minna, Dom, Temby and Marco were stoked to meet up for the first time in-person to complete their training! We couldn't be more pleased for this capable, skilled and motivated team. Run in partnership with Darebin Council, Buds offers older people in the district a chance to share their gardening knowledge and experience with our young Helpers while getting a hand to keep on top of gardening work they need done. Know someone who's keen for some gardening help? >> www.lively.org.au/buds

08.01.2022 This is the sixth in our "Why Lively?" series, where we ask our staff about why they've chosen Lively as a place to work. We had a chat with Eva, our Service Coordinator, and this is what she had to say: "Why do I work at Lively? Simple. It helps people. It lessens stress in their lives, by creating pathways for learning and empowerment through being able to find ways of facilitating independent living. In my involvement with Lively I've been primarily involved with the vari...ous Tech Help programs as well as Safe and Connected through the pandemic, and the thing that gives me the most joy in this job is hearing the relief in the voices of those whose lives we have made a genuine difference in. The heartfelt gratitude for unlocking a skill or an idea that they previously thought unattainable, that they'd closed off the possibility to even try. That is almost payment enough." #livelyteam

08.01.2022 After a year of seismic challenges and shifts in our community, our Founder Anna recently shared her views on how we can seize this moment to imagine and create a fundamentally better future for aged care. Check out her thoughts on the big questions that need asking, and the exciting opportunities that lie in front of us, in her article here.

06.01.2022 No contact? No problem! We had to be creative to bring the fun to our induction and training sessions (considering all the physical limitations), and the results speak for themselves. Help us welcome our new Helpers for the Buds program! This pic features a moment of levity with the team behind Buds, our new intergenerational gardening program that's soon to launch in Darebin. Don't worry, we won't be wearing this when we show up at your house.... Find out more about buds here >>lively.org.au/buds

05.01.2022 We're excited to share that we've been featured in the newly released book, 'Reconnected: A Community Builder's Handbook'. The book outlines new evidence about the decline of community life, and profiles a range of organisations and initiatives that have been re-weaving community fabric in response. Drawing on the innovative ideas of hundreds of social entrepreneurs, gathered through national community forums and thousands of conversations, the book highlights effective strategies and approaches that could lead us towards a better future. We're thrilled to have been included as one such example!
