10.01.2022 3 STRATEGIES TO FEEL GOOD IN YOUR BODY NOW When you free yourself of the fear of body fat, of being over a certain size or looking a certain way, something unexpected happens. Instead of just descending into a pit of gluttony and excess, it releases you from the grip of fear and clears your mind. Then something beautiful happens. The noise within goes quiet and you can actually listen to yourself and find out what you actually want. For you.... You start to make choices, which genuinely make you feel good. Like eating food, which nourishes your body and soul. Like moving your body in a way that brings you joy. So, if you find yourself feeling ashamed of your body and the way it looks, if you're feeling like you need to 'be good' when you eat, then instead of starving yourself and/or flogging yourself with exercise, try this: 1. Stand in front of the mirror and observe objectively. Name what you see without judgement. Scan yourself from top to bottom and just look and try not to criticise. If you're comfortable doing it naked or in your underwear, do it. 2. Think of things you've achieved, which you're proud of, and which have nothing to do with how you look. Write down as many as you can think of. 3. Move your body for fun - dance to a song you love, go for a walk, jump around, roll around on the floor if you want! Whatever feels good for you. Connect with yourself beyond the images of what you're supposed to look like or weigh. Body shame is a very real thing, particularly for people in larger bodies. It takes work to undo all the internal and external messaging around body shame and you have to do it, repeatedly. It's totally worth it though, to be free of that debilitating fear. 07.01.2022 Happy Easter! Whether this is a religious celebration for you, time for family or just a holiday, this is your reminder to do something you enjoy! Treat yourself to a moment, an hour, 1/2 a day or more, think of something you'll really look forward to and make it happen!... I will be going to a gym session (yep, I look forward to that ), probably have a bath with a glass of red wine and a couple of dark easter eggs. Plus a night out with a couple of girlfriends and maybe get out in nature with my family. I'd love to know what you're up to this weekend! Tell me in the comments
