25.01.2022 Part 2 Snowy Mountains (Dec17/Jan17)

22.01.2022 It's been a while since my last post. A few weeks ago I went down to the Kosciusko National Park and did a 6 day bushwalk with the Newcastle Ramblers. Some of the trails and huts were on sections of the BNT. Great weather and company.

22.01.2022 Five years ago today we had ridden through the Daintree over three days, and arrived at Daintree Village. What an experience those three days turned out to be!

06.01.2022 4 years ago today ... I rode into Collinsville (QLD), day 45 (781km from Cooktown) of my journey along the Bicentennial National Trail (BNT). A very dry section - thankfully I had a great support from my parents who had water on board for the horses. So many memories.

04.01.2022 Guidebook 4, Maps 19 Gin Gin Creek to Mt Perry (29km) 3 September 2015 The day we road through Boolboonda Tunnel (192 metres). I had full confidence in riding Happy Face through this tunnel, but even she was very hesitant. About 20 metres into the tunnel she propped, not remotely happy about the situation, and the fairy bats flittering above us didn't help! So off I got and walked them through, Happy Face quickly settling down. The head torch helped a lot , but the going was pretty flat with no trip hazards. From there, it was only about 8-10km into Mt Perry where we stayed for about five days.

03.01.2022 It's almost five years since I started my epic ride along the Bicentennial National Trail (BNT), covering 3100km from Cooktown to Ebor, finishing 8-9 months later. I'd like to share some of my favourite photos and memories.

02.01.2022 Guidebook 4, Maps 2/3 (new directions, replacing route via Mount Morgan) Upper Ulam to Eight Mile Creek (22km) 10 August 2015 After a wonderful weekend riding with members of the Bouldercombe Trail Horse Riding Club, and camping at the Upper Ulam Reserve (an excellent stopover for trekkers), we travelled along gravel roads, the last 5km being sealed. There were a lot of trucks travelling this road, heading to and from a quarry - thankfully they were all very courteous, slowing down as they approached. There was also a fairly good verge to get off the road if required. Eight Mile Creek was the home of Therese and Cedric Creed, along with their five young kids. Therese rode the entire BNT around 2002, and met Cedric along the way - a true BNT love story!
