25.01.2022 These are some of the wallaroos that survived the fires at Mt Vic. The inspiring and experienced wildlife carer Margaret Gough will be demonstrating what you should and shouldn’t feed wildlife, and answering questions about caring for wildlife, at 12.30pm on Sunday 26 January at the Family Picnic Day being organised by the Rotary Club of Blackheath District 9685 at Blackheath Oval. You can view the introductory video made on 9 January in Mt Victoria below, but Margaret will be able to answer many other queries in person. https://bit.ly/2Rht5Zv

The Sprint will be working with the community to share all the inspiring ways they're changing their story quickly. 18.01.2022 It has been a very sobering end to 2019 with yet another major fire yesterday. We wake to greet another year thanks to the extraordinary work of our Emergency Services and we can't thank them enough! Rotary Club of Blackheath District 9685 will be organising a Community Picnic on Australia Day to bring the community together, thank our Emergency Services and raise funds for those affected by these ongoing fires. Rotary is the sponsor of this month's Local News and we'd like to do a big shout out to Aaron from At Print Creative Solutions who's also a member of Rotary Club of Nepean. Penrith NSW Australia. He came back from holidays to print this edition and donated his services to support the Blackheath Appeal.

15.01.2022 Overwhelming gratitude to Rotarian Larry Howard and his Blackheath RFB team for their contribution to protecting the communities of NSW from the fires.

15.01.2022 This Sunday 26 January the Rotary Club of Blackheath District 9685 and Blackheath Tennis Club, Blue Mountains, NSW are organising a Family Picnic Day to help bring the whole community together to relax, to again thank our emergency services, and to enjoy being in our beautiful village again. It's an especially important day for children to get out and have some fun after the stress of this holiday period. There will be lots of entertainment and sporting activities for the who...le family from 10am to 3pm at Blackheath Oval. "Pack a picnic and come along to hear live music, cricket and football for kids as well as a free tennis open day. Test your skills against the SpinFire Ball Machine plus ANZ HotShots tennis for three- to nine-year-olds. (Hot shots introduces young children to the game on smaller courts with lighter racquets, lower nets and low compression balls.) There will also be cricket ball bowling and batting machines, music, pinata and water events." (Blue Mountains Gazette) Most importantly, meet and thank our wonderful Emergency Services who've been exhausted by this long drawn out fire crisis. To help support them into the future, come and find out how you can volunteer to join the RFS and other services at The Big Fix stall. If you're aged between 16 and 30 and are feeling overwhelmed by the scale of the ecological crisis, come along and talk to us about our Blue Mountains Pluriversity World Heritage Environmental Regeneration Program. If you're a business struggling to cope, come along and meet the Blackheath Chamber of Commerce Inc. and discuss strategies for moving forward.

15.01.2022 Time to celebrate our fabulous community together! 14.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE and come along to the Rotary Club of Blackheath District 9685 Australia Day Family Picnic on Sunday 26 January at the Oval in Blackheath. Rotarian Edwin McCoy has been hard at work this week getting posters up. The program keeps getting bigger by the minute. As well as the live music, tennis and other sporting events, we'll be meeting and thanking our Emergency Services and helping to recruit new people (particularly young ones!) to join the RFS; we'll be sharin...g information about feeding wildlife; and launching the Blue Mountains Pluriversity's program this year to learn how to help our World Heritage Blue Mountains regenerate after the Fires. Bring a picnic and invite friends up from Sydney for the whole Australia Day Long Weekend to help support as many local businesses as possible and get Blackheath humming. #topofthemountain #allinthistogether #community #firerecovery

13.01.2022 As the world responds to a pandemic caused by a virus for which there is not yet a vaccine, we recall how the fight to #EndPolio by Rotary International & its partners has reduced polio cases by 99.9% since 1988 because #VaccinesWork The global health community needs Rotary’s help to spread the word about the importance of vaccinations during World Immunization Week, 24-30 April. We can all do our part to keep our communities healthy by encouraging everyone to immunize their... children. You can download Rotary’s World Immunization Week Toolkit at the link below, and use #VaccinesWork and #EndPolio hashtags on your social media posts to raise awareness.
