25.01.2022 Some resources to share at home if you have kids :)

25.01.2022 A great article on eating organic, "the idea that going organic is all about avoiding the consumption of chemicals is like saying that skiing is all about wearing warm and puffy clothes". https://medium.com//whats-going-organic-all-about-8a57cffc

18.01.2022 What a rewarding day! Sunshine, dirt and seedlings! Oh yes and a group of budding horticulturalists! It's great to be able to support others in their journey of learning to grow food using living systems, thank you Tamara Lilly from The Ridge.

18.01.2022 There is an amazing abundance of life all around us, and a rich diversity of knowing and seeing. I find learning the Noongar names brings a deeper connection and way of seeing living beings that we share this boodja (country) with.

17.01.2022 "Slow the flow, Let all plants grow, Be careful where animals go" Stuart Andrews

16.01.2022 Getting first hand knowledge of organic broadacre farming at David McFalls farm near Kojonup as part of a workshop. We are looking to see the soil aggregates around the roots which are an indication of a good diversity of soil microbes, healthy soil!!

16.01.2022 Lots of good films appearing online for free. Time to learn something new? See some sell solutions being used everyday to create healthier communities.

16.01.2022 I was first introduced to Walters work last year at the Food For Thought Workshop on Regenerative Agriculture. Very passionate and with some beautiful simple videos about the soil acting as a sponge. This is a long read, definately a good resource with a holistic view on soil - a living entity. "Whats awe-inspiring about a cathedral are the voids and the ethereal spaces the nothingness they create not the bricks and the cement. Well-aggregated soil is like a cathedral. T...he mineral particles in the soil are like the stones of a cathedral. Soil organic matter is analogous to the cement that holds the stones together. Adding just a small amount of organic matter 1, 2 or 3 percent by weight fundamentally changes soils physical structure. That organic matter cement between the mineral component enables us to develop these massive, beautiful spaces. A healthy soil has a bulk density of about 1.2 g per cc or less. About 66 percent of a healthy soil is just space, air nothing and that creates massive capacity for the sponge to hold water. It allows water to infiltrate and be retained and made available over time. Its really the nothing that we add to soil which creates its health and viability, like a cathedral." See more

15.01.2022 Great to see the garden powering along!

13.01.2022 It's always a good time to start composting!

12.01.2022 Come and be a part of making sense, together, of the uncertain times we live in. This is what I have been working on in 2020.

10.01.2022 Feel the Greensong flow! Grace and the Great Turning by Joanna Macy When you act on behalf... of something greater than yourself, you begin to feel it acting through you with a power that is greater than your own. This is grace. Today, as we take risks for the sake of something greater than our separate, individual lives, we are feeling graced by other beings and by Earth itself. Those with whom and on whose behalf we act give us strength and eloquence and staying power we didn't know we had. We just need to practice knowing that and remembering that we are sustained by each other in the web of life. Our true power comes as a gift, like grace, because in truth it is sustained by others. If we practice drawing on the wisdom and beauty and strengths of our fellow humans and our fellow species we can go into any situation and trust that the courage and intelligence require will be supplied. 09.01.2022 Our gardens are a wonderful place for many animals and plants to live :) Is it time to go outside, find a comfy spot, relax, be still and look to see who is visiting your garden?

09.01.2022 It was wonderful to visit Miling North of Perth last week to talk Permaculture, difficult to fit in much about soil! Just a lovely way for regional people to connect and share gardening stories and tips. It was quite a an interactive talk that had everyone up and moving. Quite a feat with around 50 people!

06.01.2022 In Permaculture we talk about understanding the problem to find solutions. In Social Ecology we talk about changing the way we think. Watch this quick video (and a longer one if you want to explore further). It helps us to see things in a different way and asks questions about the worlds problems.

04.01.2022 I met Ben at the international Permaculture Conference in 2017. He has a very down to earth easy to understand way of communicating and is very knowledgeable .
