25.01.2022 Natural Dendrites in Quartz These superb dendrites are amongst the finest Living Fossil has ever found. Hand setting them in silver with a finely made cabochon is all they need to astonish the viewer. In The Living Fossil Gallery now and on our website http://livingfossil.com.au//crystal-and-mineral-jewellery-

24.01.2022 Sumatran blue amber. If you know how deceptively light real amber is, then you know just what a goliath of this chunk is weighing in at more than 1kg. This is tue bluest of blues, and it celebrates a new addition to the LFS family. LFS are Living Fossil Skulls - and we are crazy about them.

23.01.2022 Tri-colour amber. Shot without blacklight. I'm amazed by this amber and shocked with the startling beauty of my skulls. From 1" to 3.5"

21.01.2022 Too tempting for me to pass up, these natural agate gems and that truly stunning calcite cab will each be one off little delights.

21.01.2022 Saturn's Lost Moons - Phantom Quartz with amphibole like you've never seen

21.01.2022 Tiger Eye Bracelets - but 18mm juggernauts!!! Guys, we have finally got a bracelet that works on your wrists now too! And look at the quality - we call this gold tiger eye.

20.01.2022 Truly stupendous Watermelon tourmaline. Each heart is hand shaped and each heart graduates down in size. Rare to find such quality in a single bracelet.

19.01.2022 The highest quality Green Phantom Quartz we've ever seen - each piece hand cut of a similar high quality. This is a rare bracelet and the stones are not small - 5mm by 8mm!

19.01.2022 A small sample of a large number of gemstones being used in our new gemstone jewellery range.

19.01.2022 I've named her Lucy. That blue chunk had become the most incredibly beautiful skull. Handcarved and bluer thn you could imagine and still more blue in sun - Lucy is a mystery of changing colours - purples to orange, red to blue. Sumatran blue amber is one of three known fluorescent amber deposits in the world. It is a recognised true amber older than baltic amber by nearly 10 million years and with Mexico the Dominican Republic and Sumatra being the only deposits found so f...ar, it is also truly quite rare. Rarer than the near limitless baltic amber supplies and does what other ambers cannot - it is Pleochroic - colour changing by UV being absorbed by its surface turning it from blue to orange and purple depending on its angle. Inside is the deepest of amber colours. We have been on the hunt for big blues and this could be the biggest blue amber skull in the world and Lucy is now head of the LFS family and gallery. Below are brethren... See more

18.01.2022 Just incase anyone thought it was a yellow light colouring our citrine, here it is simply basking in the ambient light.

17.01.2022 FONZE. 8kg brother to Nelson and son of Gaia. Hand carved from solid crystal matrix with crystals of quartz in perfect shape. Druze matrix. Fonze's shows how a handsome grin (and decent hairdo) can go a long way.

17.01.2022 Welcome to the world of Dendrites. Just how impossibly beautiful they are. Fractal in nature and of course completely by the hand of nature, all these needed was the simplest of frames - as there is absolutely nothing that could make this any more stunning. This is the first of a sizable batch of pendants being made right now but photographed on Facebook a while back. In the time-warping nature of the fossil industry, it is actually hard to get jobs started, finished - as I'm continually being distracted by yet more of Nature's marvels...(see post below)

16.01.2022 Customised light box Living Fossil made! Includes warm colour LED (changeable) and lead with switch.

16.01.2022 Crystal Opal free form nuggets. No colour adjustments. Photo take with reading lamp and just unpacked tonight. I cannot wait till the morning sun to see them burn :)

15.01.2022 Paralejurus Hamlagdadicus, in superb condition with simply stunning eye detail showing hundreds of lenses. Too small to see clearly with naked eye, this macro was shot with a Samsung Note 4. Yes, I am impressed... (and I adore my trilobite too)

15.01.2022 Bush Ranger. Another amazing phantom quartz sphere in the gallery , ,

14.01.2022 Dream Phantom Quartz featuring a graduation of colours in each gemstone. These are natural gemstones also known as Amphibole quartz. There is a centrally placed super high quality (pale transulcent) Green Phantom Quartz stone. Each stone is handcut and the bracelet is then hand built evenly spacing the selected green phantom quartz pillow.

14.01.2022 PANDORA 11kg of extraordinary beauty. Phantom Quartz like never before. In gallery now

13.01.2022 Lumerian twin crystal. This is everything collectors want but seldom see. Completely natural in shape/form/colour. This means not cut not polished not treated or trimmed, not coloured nor glued. It has been created in its entirety by Nature's hand. And it could not be any more beautiful. Diamante, Minas Gerais, Brasil. 380mm in length.

13.01.2022 This 10.9 kilogram NATURAL citrine is the best piece we have ever had. It is hard to describe but the FIRE in it is phenomenal.

13.01.2022 No it's not really about the pants but I am thinking of starting a new range of urban and crystal camouflage wear..

13.01.2022 Citrine and light - what a wonderful phenomenon to witness

13.01.2022 There's something so alien about crabs and also so beautiful. These are not real but it's pretty hard to tell right!? One is carved out of Siberian Mammoth Ivory and the other naturally shed Alaskan Moose Antler. Which is which?

13.01.2022 Sale Sale Sale. With the arrival of some fantastic new stock, LF is having a sale to make room! MOST STOCK MINIMUM 10% including our newly arrived stock. 50% on some stock! Same lasts 3 weeks. :)

12.01.2022 Lucy - Queen of Skulls. 7" of the world's rarest amber. Blue amber. Check what baltic amber cannot do....

12.01.2022 The Living Fossil Gallery has acquired several styles of bracelet which feature truly rare hand crafted gemstones. Every type is a one-off and impossible to replace. We start this album with some stunning Rutilated quartz. These magnificent bracelets feature dramatic rutile in every stone. The gems in this bracelet were each hand cut and shaped. It was then hand built in a graduating size with the largest stones measuring 13mm. Double strung with a multi thread using complementary colour nylons. The quality of this bracelet is extraordinary - very hard to achieve in today's world of machine cut spheres and shallow cuts.

11.01.2022 Bicolour Watermelon Tourmaline. Graduated bracelets - hand cut hand built. Watermelon (pink & green) is perhaps the most sought after combination but tourmaline is every colour making it a stunning gemstone.

08.01.2022 Each time my mate Kev produces a knife, it's a very very difficult decision whether to buy it for...well me...or see it sold in my gallery. As you can see the collection is growing. And yes, I use them all - best knives I've ever used and it's a simple pleasure to cut a tomato as if it was butter (and no squish) and then have the same experience with a loaf of thick crust sourdough. Damascus steel is one of the finest blades when professionally made, and these are artworks also. Mounted here on mallee burl, several are inlaid with our gallery's mammoth ivory and torquise.

07.01.2022 LFS - Nelson. Brother of Fonze and son of Gaia. Over 6kg of pure quartz striated crystal covering skull handcarved from quartz matrix. Druzy matrix, superb rosette on side.

06.01.2022 SKULL ON at Living Fossil. All single pieces of the world's rarest amber. Blue amber. I call it elemental amber - amber that plays with light - absorbing it, storing it and releasing it at other wavelengths...

05.01.2022 6.6kg of gold citrine and the deepest I've ever seen. Natural gold citrine is probably the rarest of the quartz family and is often imitated by heating amethyst giving a fizured interior. This is also one of the rarest pieces to grace the gallery - so if you've ever wondered what the big deal is about citirne - come in and experience it!

01.01.2022 There's something very special about amethyst hugs :)

01.01.2022 The task - Carve a Bird's feather and make it look real. The Medium: Siberian Mammoth Ivory, 15,000 - 25,000 years old The Result - Feathers so beautifully carved that it's hard to believe they are done by hand. Yet, a lifetime of carving shows in each piece, as does the human need to communicate through art of all forms. Neanderthals did so and included mammoth ivory for many uses including jewellery, tools and shelter. We carry on this tradition and have used wing and fea...ther designs for our Summer "15 range. http://livingfossil.com.au/mammoth-ivory-pendant-1000.html
