22.01.2022 At Livingstone, we are continuing to be committed to the health and wellbeing of our whole College community. As we being a new week tomorrow, here’s a reminder... of some of the ongoing things that we can all do during this time Avoid physical greetings, including hugs, handshakes and holding hands with others from outside your household Stay at home if you or your child is unwell If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please get tested. Call 13 HEALTH (12 43 25 84) for health advice over the phone. Cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm or a tissue (not your hands) Try to avoid touching your mouth or face as much as possible Wash your hands often with soap and water, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet Keep physical distance between yourself and others from outside your household. Parents, this especially includes you! Keep your distance from others, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. See you all tomorrow for another great week of learning and growing at Livingstone! #WeAreLivingstone

19.01.2022 This week we enjoyed participating in National Science Week! As we intentionally focussed on science this week, we invited children to think deeply about the world around them and how it works. Science provides an opportunity for children to expand their ideas and make connections. It is a process of constructing understandings and developing ideas; a natural focus in children's learning and development through quality early childhood programs.

10.01.2022 This week is National Nutrition Week. Across ELC and Pre-Prep, our children have enjoyed engaging in a variety of different experiences to support healthy eating awareness and education. Nutrition Australia encourages Australians to increase their vegetable consumption to the recommended five serves per day. National Nutrition Week aims to raise awareness around the role of food on our health. Children who eat healthy foods in their everyday lives can be more alert and i...nterested in activities, which can improve their concentration and learning. All Early Childhood Education and Care professionals are in a wonderful position to support children's development and growth, and to promote good eating habits. As professional Educators we believe it is important for us to embed healthy experiences into our daily programs, empowering children to take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing as they grow. 08.01.2022 Caring for animals provides amazing opportunities to enrich children's learning about nature, ecology and relationships. This week, we collaborated with Mr Reynolds from our college Agriculture Department to create a learning experience for our children by borrowing an incubator and some eggs! The children responded with wonderment and awe as they discovered this extension on their interest in animals and eggs! They enjoyed gazing at the eggs, spotting some "chicks" hiding in the hay, and discovering how chicks form inside the egg over 21 days. Once our little chicks hatch from their eggs, they will spend some time in a warm little chick "nursery" in our ELC office before eventually heading back to the Agriculture Centre where we can continue to visit them and watch their growth!

08.01.2022 This week our Pre-Prep children had a wonderful time collaborating with each other and their Teacher, Miss Erin, to facilitate a new project based on their current interest in farms. Together, they planned a visit to our College Agriculture Centre before creating their own small world farm. When children actively contribute to the program, they are more likely to be engaged in play that responds to their interests, abilities and strengths.

06.01.2022 Our Foundation Athletics Carnival today was a wonderful day in the sun, with our Pre-Prep to Year 2 students having so much fun. Please enjoy these photo highli...ghts. Dressed in their house colours, our students enthusiastically participated in the usual athletics sports of high jump, long jump and 100m races, but also enjoyed sack races, egg-and-spoon races, foam rocket launching (javelin for beginners), 'hopper' bounce ball races, kids step hurdles and kicking a soccer ball in miniature netted goals. Students were rewarded stickers for both winning 1st, 2nd or 3rd place or participation in races, and received cheering and encouragement from our supportive Year 6 leadership students and Secondary student volunteers. It was great to see Foundation students beaming with pride after giving each sport their best attempts and enjoying some exercise in the sun. Additional photos will be included in our last Newsletter for Term 3, published this Friday.

02.01.2022 We view children, learning, and development through a holistic and inclusive lense. Children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual development is scaffolded through providing just the right balance of support and challenge for each individual. Our practice is informed by evidence based neuroscience, making the most of the way that young children's brains develop to lay a foundation for a lifelong love of learning. https://www.edutopia.org//why-ages-2-7-matter-so-much-brai

02.01.2022 Play is the foundation of our program and underpins all pedagogical approaches to children’s development and learning. Promoting playful experiences and interactions engages children’s curiosity and promotes positive attitudes towards new and familiar experiences.
