23.01.2022 Many of you would have heard me refer fondly to my daughter Olivia as my most demanding child. You’d have thought that over 35 Livvi’s Place inclusive playspac...es and a social enterprise Livvi’s Cafe, created in Olivia’s memory, and NSW Government Everyone Can Play Guidelines, would be enough. As wonderful as that is, our work isn’t done, and there is one more piece to her legacy that our charity Touched by Olivia has been working on for over a year now. It’s a really simple concept that will see us help deliver a social offering called The Living Room which will be supported by a Charity Collective. This offering will see us work with communities to build or repurpose spaces that will enable communities to offer cafe training and experience to those facing employment barriers whilst supporting the whole community with social programs delivered by Touched by Olivia partnering with a host of charities - all under the one roof. Even before COVID created its havoc, loneliness, anxiety, and depression were all creeping into our worlds, and now with social isolation part of our everyday lives, no one is immune. So more than ever we need to connect with and support people in our community. Well, Olivia’s endearing ways are working their magic again and last week we received the fabulous news that we’d been given the green light for our first Living Room. Ironically we are back to where we first began, thanks to City of Canada Bay approving design works for the development of The Living Room at Livvi's Cafe Five Dock, Sydney. Planktober by TBO is our launch event to help raise further funds with our dream of supporting other communities with the next chapter of our work. I’d love you to jump in on our new adventure and plank with us for the month of October.
