21.01.2022 Often as parents, we worry about medication for our children, is it the right thing, the wrong thing, will we be judged, etc. We have all been those parents. But, when you stand witness to this, the question answers itself. These kids were working hard, they were not being silly or messing around and they all knew what they needed to do, they simply couldn't do it. 15 mins afterwards they did it without hesitation. https://youtu.be/VBpsIwV5FvA

16.01.2022 As many of you have experienced our childrens ability to be organised and remember instructions is subjective. However, with the onset in high school-aged children these problems increase and can impact far beyond forgetting a single thing. Children learn in 2 ways, practise and repetition. They need to do the task and then practise it, making mistakes along the way. COVID-19 made everyone realise the importance of technology yet most children only knew how to play games and... not how to use it as a tool for their learning. We believe, that given the difficulties our children have, that technology is critical to ensuring they can deliver knowledge in a way that teachers can understand. To do that we need to do the bit above - do it and practise it, over and over again. Sometimes a job we see as a task to get done is, in fact, a critical skill that needs to be learnt. Please be patient with the small people and teach them how to do what is being asked, help them when they get stuck and try and develop strategies as to how to remember what in these days is essential information: email address, passwords etc. Technology used properly can be life-changing.

14.01.2022 Have a read about how to start changing how reading is taught in schools. Teaching reading should be explicit. https://thespeechieteach.com//guidedreading-analternative/

09.01.2022 Community Support for Our Teenagers. Thank You All

09.01.2022 We've been quiet on the socials recently; getting our head around our students needs etc. This week's update, students averaging a 10WPM (Words Per Minute) increase every 2-3 weeks, it may not sound a lot, but for kids who have struggled to learn to read it's momentous.
