21.01.2022 Went to a great invitation-only Commercial Finance conference in Sydney last week, with some great insights into how Australia is faring. Bill Evans, who is Westpac's Economic spokesman, is adamant we will expect rate reductions, as a minimum tomorrow 0.25% and is expecting two more this year in August and November. So be mindful if banks/financial institutions are offering you fixed rates at present, be wary, because we have not hit the bottom of the market as yet, and there will be sharper rates than what are currently on offer.

05.01.2022 Just thought I would update what is occurring in the finance industry at present. 1. It is still business as usual with Financial Institutions at present - albeit processing times have slowed, but they have not changed their policies at present and are still lending money for all purposes. 2. In terms of hardship, job loss etc, the banks/non-banks are being very accommodating - so if you are having issues, don't hesitate to contact them or myself to work out a strategy. The...re are far more pressing issues, so alleviate the stress if there is any, and buy some time. Most lenders are allowing upwards of six months deferment, and are not interrogating clients as to why you are doing this. Believe it or not, they do understand! 3. There is going to be a price war at some point in the near future, as banks/non banks still jockey for market share. Don't fix your loan at present, there will be further discounts. On the back of the Royal Commission, we saw numerous changes that will have a lasting impact, including the recent introduction of comprehensive credit reporting which will definitely be the next big uproar.
