20.01.2022 Happy new year! Here’s hoping 2021 brings us all good health, more joy and connection with nature and our loved ones.

17.01.2022 Our zucchini plants have officially taken off. I had no idea they would produce so much so quickly. One plant seems to produce longer and thinner fruits, while the other produces giant fruits within a week. I wonder how supermarkets manage to sell only perfectly even sizes and shapes. . . . .... . . #seedswapaustralia #seedsavingaustralia #mysmartgarden #gardeningaustralia #australiangarden #permaculture #permacultureaustralia #veggiegardenaustralia #localseedsau See more

02.01.2022 Meet Seaford Seeds Vic, one of our featured growers from Victoria: It all started with a single raised bed from Aldi's to grow some tomatoes... then one became two, then three, until I now have what I call the farm! Once my first rocket plant went to seed I was hooked on seed saving, and now everything I grow is destined to become seeds. Learning about the seed to sprout to seed process has taught me a lot about garden productivity, soil and crop rotation. As more seeds and ...plants are grown, there is more to learn! It also takes up a lot of space! I'm grateful you are sharing in this journey with me. Happy sowing! https://www.localseeds.com.au/shop/seaford-seeds-vic/ #seedswapaustralia #seedsavingaustralia #mysmartgarden #gardeningaustralia #australiangarden #permaculture #permacultureaustralia #veggiegardenaustralia #localseedsau

01.01.2022 Sadly we can’t save seeds from commercial bananas, but this is a good example of why saving and cultivating heirloom seeds is important. Genetic diversity is key to protecting cultivated varieties, such as cavendish and ladyfinger, from the adverse effects of climate change and pests and diseases, according to Dr Carpentier. "[Wild bananas] contain unique genes, since they are exposed to the natural threats of the environment and only the fittest survives."... https://www.abc.net.au//ancient-bananas-in-png-ca/12917960

01.01.2022 I’ve never had much luck with basil, which is a bit embarrassing as I always hear people say how easy it is but I think that was part of the problem as I never bothered checking how to grow it properly. So this time around I made sure to plant later in spring and put it under the sunnier part of my garden. Very happy to see it’s seems to be thriving! . . . .... . . #seedswapaustralia #seedsavingaustralia #mysmartgarden #gardeningaustralia #australiangarden #permaculture #permacultureaustralia #veggiegardenaustralia #localseedsau See more
