04.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: Today there are no new confirmed cases of Coronavirus in our region. In total there are 30 confirmed cases - 6 are active and 24 recovered. ...For those followers who pay attention to the numbers, you will notice that previously we've said there are 32 cases in our region. Queensland Health has amended its data reporting and the two cases removed from the total number locally were people whose residential address was listed as Cairns, but they were actually tested and treated in Brisbane (ie. the case was located in Brisbane). People who live in the Cairns region hotspot are being asked to get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms (without travel). This Cairns region is defined as including Palm Cove to the north, Mareeba to the west and Gordonvale to the south. A person from within this region will generally be tested if they have a fever (or history of fever) including night sweats or chills, or acute respiratory symptoms (eg. cough, shortness of breath, sore throat). More information on testing criteria is available at: http://ow.ly/1cdO50zchH0 Anyone who meets these criteria for testing should contact a doctor immediately or visit your local emergency department.
