25.01.2022 6s Flash Back 2014 Local Ambo is on call today in case of a repeat performance

25.01.2022 I hour until we start and the weather has been kind overnight and the radar looks ok. Free bacon and eggs for all that are here before 9am!

23.01.2022 Wyndham Vale and You Yangs Always count on these two teams being at the Loddon 6's Tournament year in, year out! These teams care more about the pub on Saturday night and the p.h level of the pool than actually winning the Tournament....Continue reading

22.01.2022 Chalkely's Tigers are the raging favorites for the 2017 Loddon 6s and it is easy to see why, with their line up including the first ever 6s player to have worn an international cap, in 25 year old Sean Terry (pictured). Five of their key players are summarised by Andrew Chalkely below, with the 6th player remaining a mystery. Michael Hill - He'd be disappointed if people didn't know who he was on arrival, our marquee player that is sure to whack a few to charlton.... Scott Edwards - Richmonds first XI kepper, will be certain to get a good nights sleep saturday night as he's well known for passing out mid beer. Andrew Chalkley - Inaugural Woosang medalist who will be an asset with his crafty offspin. Marcus Berryman - Juice as he likes to be called bowls a heavy ball and will be sure to clear a few over the rope, got a pass from the misses so expect to see his best work in Star Bar saturday night. Sean Terry - International cricketer, with a passport that looks similar to the start of a joke 'three tourists walked into a bar' claims to be Irish, english and australian. Hoping to keep his foot behind crease unlike his last game for Ireland.

22.01.2022 $650 cash up for grabs this Sunday for teams ($400 winner, $200 runner up) and 6s MVP ($50), along with this fantastic PUMA design your own bat for the best young player (17 years or under), along with $5 or a drink of your choice for every 6 that gets caught in the crowd. Last year over 100 6s were hit, so maybe you could make a good days wage just turning up to watch on Sunday?

22.01.2022 Rain of 40mm was expected, but never arrived. What arrived instead, was 2,053runs, 123 sixes and a final that would never be forgotten. The 14th edition of the Loddon 6s was one for the ages. It had Sammy J, Brayden Stepien, Michael Hill, Dolly, Chalkley, and the locals batting way above their average.... The draw at the pub went well Saturday night, but Brad Holt’s 21st at the trotting pavilion also batted well above it’s average for the whole town and it’s many visitors until after 4am. But back to the cricket. The pool games were closely contested, but three teams won both their initial games in Wedderburn, Strathdale and Chalkley’s Tigers. The fourth semi finalist would come down to the run rates of Bridgwater, the Falcons and Wyndhamvale who had all won one and lost one match. The Falcons, so impressive for a baseball club, were just .05 behind Wyndhamvale who went through. The semi final coin tosses were just the biggest hit by each team and could that have been any funnier? Once they began, Strathdale were set 61 to win by Wyndhamvale and chased that down with ease. Then Chalkley’s Tigers bashed 100 against the locals, who respectefully got close but fell short. So that meant the two favourites would fight out the final. Chalkley's Tigers batted first and former Australian Under 19 Captain Michael Hill exploded, playing an amazing innings. His 65 off 16 balls allowed the Tigers to post 90, a score that had never lost a 6s final. The tigers bowling lacked the skill level of their batting, and the brilliance of Stepien and Sammy J (42 NO each) got Strathdale home with several balls to spare. Michael Hill won the biggest 6 prize, with a lusty 122 metre blow. Brodie Ward, at just 13 years of age smacked 50 runs and bowled well, was awarded the best young player by the umps and took home an amazing Puma design your own bat. Brayden Stepien won the 2017 Loddon 6s MVP accumulating 214 runs off 73 balls, with some amazing 6s and clutch finals knocks. The Carlton premier league star pipped Hill, Dolly, Peters, Chalkley and Yeo. Ian Gould thanked the Loddon Shire, Wedderburn Hotel and Wedderburn Motel and all the Volunteers. New Loddon 6s coordinators Liam Ritchie and Jordan Hargreaves echoed Ian’s thoughts and pledged to continue this fun, unique event for many more years.

19.01.2022 Draw below. See you at 9am! GOOD LUCK ALL

18.01.2022 The Loddon 6s WILL be run and won tomorrow, despite some predicted rain. Taz assures me that we will get enough dry time to find a winner. Make sure all captains read the rules post (pinned to top of this page) before play commences soon after 9am tomorrow. If required, innings lengths can be shortened, as all that counts is your win and loss column and your run rate per ball.... Please note that there is NO BYO alcohol tomorrow, as plenty of these and other drinks along with an array of food will be on sale all day at the pavillon. The draw will take place tonight at the Wedderburn pub at 9.15pm and be on this page soon after.

18.01.2022 Unfortunately due to lack of teams available to compete this year as it has clashed with league catch up games the Loddon Super 6's has been cancelled. We're sorry for any inconvenience this has caused teams that were going to compete but we hope to see you again next year with a full competition and plenty of runs.

14.01.2022 Falcons Baseball Club. After an unsuccessful Loddon 6’s last year the FBC will return hoping that the competition has dropped in quality. This will be a good test to see if all the pre season work for the upcoming baseball season has paid off If we hit the track before the 4th of Feb. Jonny Van der Hagen - will be back for his fourth Loddon 6’s and is hoping to make it past the first round for the first time. Unfortunately he has let himself go even further and would be runn...ing the water if he had any run left in his legs Micka Peters Always reliable and may not have been dismissed in his 4 tours of Wedderburn. Marquee player and the team plan is to allow Mick to do as much as he can. The team will sneak him in for another innings if by some miracle he is dismissed this tournament. Brad Muns Captain of the A grade team and has made a return to cricket; purely based on his experience at the Loddon 6’s. Still shattered that we didn’t progress beyond stage 1 last year and is hoping that a win here will make up for another grand final loss last baseball season. Darryl Muns Eaglehawks favourite son, but not his parents Captains the C grade team for Eaglehawk and is one of 2 players in this team to not have their bodies ravaged by time. Expecting loose bowling, loose shots and loose standards. Brendan Archibald Designated keeper as he is the youngest player in the squad. Unseen since last tournament and is likely to be found in one of the classy establishments in the Bendigo CBD after hours. If we have an early start there is the potential that we will need to prop him up for the first innings. Mystery player After the shock departure of our record setting Dale Daisy Lindrea (most consecutive dot balls 9) the team is recruiting hard to fill this void. After several team meetings we have been unable to decide if we import a superstar or stick with the stocks we have at Eaglehawk. Stay tuned

13.01.2022 What is that green stuff?! Fielders will be pleased with the outfield at Wedderburn on Sunday, and with no cricket on this pitch until the 6s as the local teams have a bye Saturday, this Jordie Hargreaves manicured pitch is sure to be one of the best in 6s history.

12.01.2022 Due to unforeseen circumstances, a couple of our teams have had to pull out of this years competition. This means we are one team short of a competitive day! Therefore a spot is available for a team of 6. A fantastic opportunity for some new (or old) blood to show us their skills, and have a lot of fun and a good laugh at the same time! For any teams interested please contact Liam Ritchie or Jordan Hargreaves.

11.01.2022 Team X - our final team profile Negotiations are continuing in an effort to field Team X, to cover the late withdrawl of Lake Wendouree from the 2017 Loddon 6s. And said negotiations are likely to continue in to the wee hours of Saturday night, so our last team profile is challenging but goes something like this. ... Oppositions 6s teams will be wondering whether they want to draw Team X in their pool or not. Rumours abound that one or even two of the best cricketer/butcher all-rounders may play, along with a farmer that looks like Ned Kelly and has a great brother in law. Word also that some seriously talented but quite young lads from Darley and Wedderburn could assist, whilst the big bro of the WBCC skipper may also appear, and he does hits it like Lawford. Whatever transpires, be careful what you wish for, and get ready to be entertained by Team X (and comment below if you are keen to play with us :).

10.01.2022 Lots of history at WBCC - who will write the next chapter today?

05.01.2022 Not long till we kick off on Sunday morning and we see the return of Wyndham Vale C.C 6’s Whilst the Vales will be missing some of their regular stars, some could still expect them to factor in a finals berth with this depleted squad (personally, I wouldn’t!) Nathan ‘Smiley’ Gray... The trip captain for yet another year, Smiley will actually have to play a game for the first time in 4 years. Known for both his switch hitting and switch bowling, don’t be surprised if he sneaks a couple of left armers through and collect some poles! Ben ‘Junners’ Funnell May need to bring something to the table this year, other than his ability to destroy the Fish and Chip shop at 2pm on Sunday. Known for his finger spin, his form is worrying this season. Expect big numbers off his overs! Craig ‘Chilli’ Campbell Making his trip debut after pulling out at the 12th hour last year, Chilli is known for his wheels with the ball. Clocked at the MCG nets at 145km/h whilst being a net bowler for the Kiwis a couple of years ago. Look for his demolishing form with the bat aswell. Will drink every minute of the day if allowed by the missus! Andrew ‘Mess’ Mundey A town hero, making a return to his beloved fans! Has been known to be quite a mess on this trip, Mundey has suffered a lacerated eye in this competition, enforcing a stricter ruling on helmets and footwear for that matter (Thanks for nothing!) Look for him to be more interested in the drinking side of the tournament than the actual cricket! Adam ‘Woody’ Walls Has once or twice been known to be found in the local pool post-midnight on the Saturday night, he’ll try and tell everyone that he’s now transformed into a batsmen and is a genuine all-rounder nowadays. If he tells you this, tell him he’s dreamin! Loves a beer and getting nude!

03.01.2022 UPDATED ODDS FOR 2017 LODDON 6s (after late starts bought) $1.75 Chalkley’s Tigers $3.00 Strathdale... $3.50 Wyndhamvale $4.50 Bridgewater, $5.00 You Yangs, Darley $7.50 Falcons, Wedderburn, Team X.

03.01.2022 In 15 years of Loddon 6s the host club Wedderburn Band is yet to win one! Can 2017 be the year? In pleasing news, two of their young legends in Jordie Hargreaves and Liam RItchie (pictured) are now transitioning to take over the running of the 6s so it can continue for another 15 years beyond 2017, and they have been fantastic in this role thus far. So 6s captains should have a beer or two with them this week-end. Jordie sums up the locals to look out for: Darcy 'Doug' Jac...kson Future hall of famer at the club this kid is and it's not for his on field ability. Affectionately name Doug after Doug Bollinger, not very good to look at but a crowd favourite Louis 'Usain' Holt If you're looking for the edge on the local boys this year just feed this kid a six pack and he'll be wrecked till next week. Professional fielder Nath 'Dobby' Holt There'll be cricket history made this Sunday if this left arm leg side express plays, as it's a good chance he could send down a 20 ball over. Nicknamed Dobby due to his uncanny resemblance to the elf from Harry Potter Liam 'Greasy Pig' Ritchie Current skipper of the WBCC and has been struggling for form with the bat but is sure to fire this weekend with a return to his glory days of spin bowling to entertain the crowd. Think Brad Hogg in the body of Boony Bradley 'B-Lad' Holt If he manages to surface on Sunday after celebrating his 21st on Saturday night then the locals really will believe anything is possible Jordan 'Big Sass' Hargreaves Big lumbering medium pacer, local curator that loves to doctor the wicket. Talents include laughing when running in to bowl, man cads and sleeping standing up.

03.01.2022 The time of year is fast approaching again for the Super 6's to kick off and light up Market Square on Sunday the 4th of February. So far we have 7 teams confirmed so if you want to be one of the final two teams to enter let organisers Liam or Jordan know ASAP and please send through player profiles if you've already confirmed.

01.01.2022 The Bridgewater boys hail from the jewel of the loddon shire and are much loved in Wedderburn. They have been a dominant force in the local comp in recent years and now that they have purchased a late start, they are surely a chance to be a force on Sunday. Sam Harrison sums up their key players: Tom 'bombo' Dunham (c) A Premiership captain of our local side, loves getting himself in and making a big score with the bat but also does his best work after dark at the local w...atering hole star bar! 5am specialist! Jayden 'Jaw' Burke (vc) First year at the club, loves going out cheaply this guy! Has been known to hang around campsites at falls festival and drinks everyone's UDL cans, looking forward to seeing him put them over the road at wedderburn also seen once a week losing it in star bar Xav 'Ruby Puppins' Dunham Premiership player at the club, taken 25 wickets @9.4 this is pretty big seeing how he didn't take a wicket last year, keep bowling your off spin puppins! Also enjoy a electric pink cruiser! Codie 'CP' Price Best half back in the BFL! First year at the club, opening bowler and can hold a bat/save the day! Absolutely loves a beer and a night at the discos James 'The Dog' Smith Plays his cricket at united also! James is also a premiership play at our club though, made 199 runs out at Arnold one day (he got drop 25 times) loves playing up! reasonably bad man James! Cal 'Kelpie' Prest 4x premiership player at the local football side! Can hold a bat and bowl a nice full toss when needed! Cal has given up the beers for 2017 not too sure why must hate fun anyway! Loves saving the day for the Bridgewater Bulls Sam 'Head' Harrison (team manager) Premiership player All round nice guy. Seen under the staircase in the courtyard at the local nightclub star bar from the hours of 1.30am to 4.30am
