A great opportunity for the junior and senior sides not playing to get behind the lads and watch some quality cricket. The weather is goodand the drinks are cold. Up the Mighty Cobras! 14.01.2022 Match Reports Second Grade. The Cobras hosted Burleigh and batted first. Unfortunately the top order apart from Sukh Singh who made a well compiled 44 failed to make much an impression on the scoresheet. Sonny 30 and Rohit 25 wagged the tail to take the score up to 9/176, which was never going to be enough on such a good track. The wickets for Burleigh were shared around with Vincent and French taking 3 wickets each and Harding taking 2 wickets. Burleigh batted and their top ...order failed as well until Kirk with 50 and Reus with 44 held the innings together to get the visitors up with an over to spare. Ram with 1/11 off 8 overs and Sukh with 1/19 off 8 bowled brilliantly to keep the run rate down in the middle of the innings. Second Grade host Queens next week in a must win game. Third Grade: Another home game with the visitors Southport Labrador batting first. The visitors were bowled out for 173 with Smith making 44 and Morgan 43. For the Cobras, it was a Singh attack, Gurial taking 3/24 and the other boys 5 wickets between them. The boys went in to bat with the confidence that they could score the necessary runs with 7 batsmen getting in to double figures, but nobody could go on with it. Loganholme were bowled out 22 runs short for 151. The boys go up the mountain next week to play Tamborine. Division 1: The Cobras played Yarrabilba at Dauth Park on another good batting track. Yarrabilba batted first and poured on the runs to be 2/312 at the end of the 40 overs. The highlight of the innings was Mitchell Le Prou with an unbeaten 177 off only 95 balls. He was well supported by Simon Love with 59 runs. All bowlers toiled hard in the hot conditions, but were unable to make any inroads. In reply, the Cobras ended up 9/218 at the end of the 40 overs. Aaron Pratten with 50 off 48 balls, Jason Appleby 34 off 29 balls were the pick of the batsmen. The wickets for Yarrabilba were shared around. Div 1 will host Beaudesert A1 next week in another hard game. Division 2: The Cobras hosted Jimboomba Bushrangers at Tudor Park and what can you say, 887 runs were scored off 80 overs in 5 hours of cricket. Loganholme batted first and were 3/440 after 40 overs. The highlight of the innings was an Australia wide highest score of the weekend by Scott Barsi, 281 runs off 118 balls. He was well supported by Michael Middis 47 off 25 balls and Corey Lloyd 46 off 30 balls. The Bushrangers set off after the huge target and were eventually bowled out for 407 runs with JC Graham scoring 182 runs off 79 balls, CJ Roberts 76 off 51 balls and R Galea 45 off 21 balls. The old fella Eric Mendo picked up 4/100 off 7 overs. Sitting on top of the table, the boys travel to Beaudesert next week to play the home side.
