25.01.2022 Fleur wrote an article on making work in shutdown. If you want some creative prompts and exercises, have a read. If you don't feel like being creative right now, that is totally fine too! "We are all beginners at this and there is a freedom to being a beginner. When I try knitting or woodwork, no one is invested in me getting woodwork right. That is a beautiful and freeing feeling. Sometimes as artists we are unable to take risks because the grant applications we wrote month...s or year ago locked us into a particular way of thinking, thematic or stylistic choices. You don’t have that now. Embrace your inner student. Your inner beginner. Be curious about what you can and what you can’t yet do." https://www.artshub.com.au//creative-prompts-for-post-covi

18.01.2022 A big, proud shout out to Jamaica Zuanetti on her wonderful new play, Thigh Gap, which opened at La Mama last week. Such smart, quick writing that manages to be light and fluffy whilst hiding the dark and ominous belly of the work. A wonderful production. Jamaica begun this work as part of her residency with Lonely Company and it is really special to see how it has grown and the way this team of powerhouse women have brought it to fruition.

Each writer works on a new play or performance text over the course of the year. This year we will provide our writers with peer-to-peer dramaturgy sessions, an opportunity for a writing getaway in Queenscliff, as well as a small stipend (thanks to the Rodney Seaborn Playwrights' Trust). To apply: Please send us an email with your bio + answers to the following questi...ons in no more than one A4 page. (note: our criteria isn’t experience or style, rather we are looking for people we think would get the most out of our residency, and that we can work well with as dramaturgs) *What is your idea for your play or performance text? *Why do you want dramaturgical support on this idea? *What kind of theatre or live-performance interests you? Please send your application, and any related questions to [email protected] by February 15th.
